I liked the Spiderman movies by the way, this movie looks like it'll be good to. Well, take a look if you'd like.

its sad tho that the creators have to be about as secretive as TN is about thier next game. i mean, we know Sandman is there, but we dunno if Venom is gonna be CG or an actor. and then you throw in Hobgoblin to finish the 3rd movie with a hat trick.... and we dunno if HE will be big or not. >.< blah...... too ninjaie

ayane's boyfriend - July 2, 2006 03:13 PM (GMT)
Venom will probably show up in the fourth one, this one looks like it's setting it up for Venom, there's the symbiot in this(obviously) and Eddy Brock is in this(played by Topher Grace). There's the scene on the trailer where Peter tries to get the suit off in the bell tower like in the comic, and the scene where it attaches itself to him while he's sleeping, it looks more like the real villian in this one is the symbiot and Peter trying not to lose himself.

I think that it might be the Green Goblin because Harry actually does become him at one point, but he could also hire someone to be the Hobgoblin to kill Spiderman as well.

With Venom, I'm assuming that it'll be a mixture of CG and live action, maybe the mouth will be CG, or maybe the whole thing, we'll have to wait and see.

Sexeh Kitteh - July 3, 2006 01:25 AM (GMT)
If they like not havin' a pissed Kitteh they'll do SOMETHIN CG with Venom...I just can't see it workin for them without it ._.

Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, doesn't really matter to me that much >.>
(I never liked either of them -.-)

tis true. but they might pull a stunt from the comics. Venom could be in the movie. i see this because Sandman and Venom got into a fight in the comics and Venom bit a chunk of Sandman off and was left to die [he didnt]. They might end the movie with that, and leave spidy to deal with the incomming Hobgoblin. that is one was i see they will end this battle royale

also, Venom does have 3 different origins, so how will the symbiote come into the movie is also something.
- In Secret Wars, spidy found a new black suit. guess what happens next...
- In Marval's Ultimates, Venom came from an expirement made by Peter and Eddie's fathers. He was made to be a cure for cancer. Eddie willingly took the suit cause it could be used as a weapon [remember, the Ultimates is like a Marval AU thing. so no one flame me for that. its canon. AU canon x.X]
-In the Spidy cartoon, Jameson's son, astronaut, finds an unusual rock, Promethium X. The rock has the symbiote. you can figure the rest...
IGN gave me this. click me

my theory
I figure, V's origins in the movie is a mix of those 3, and he gets to Spidy after Sandman beats him one time. Spidy finds out about Hobgoblin and fights the Symbiote off him. The symbiote then goes to Eddie somehow and Venom and Sandman have a fight, and Sandman loses. Spidy now deals with Hobgoblin, but fails.
just an idea tho..

and here is something for the fans, cause alotta people think Spiderman 2 and new black suit -

i am sorry for the 6 day difference [well, 6 by my time zone], but i found more news. and i figured if anyone still reads threads in the movie secion, they may find this new bit of info....... informative? [god i need a publicist]

taken straight from wiki:
Former Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad has said that there are four villains in Spider-Man 3: Venom, Sandman, Green Goblin II, and a mysterious fourth. He states that the fourth will be revealed during the next Comic Con. Many have speculated that the Chameleon could be the fourth villain. Many early reports stated Dmetri Smerdyakov, the Chameleon's true name, would be portrayed as one of Peter's teachers at college.[6] Others speculate it is the Lizard, the Hobgoblin, the Black Cat, and even the Man-Wolf.
wiki, spidy 3, official announcments

now, lets get surgical in this:
- Sandman is here. that is a duh, so i will move on
- Former Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad has said that there are four villains in Spider-Man 3: Venom, Sand... He said Venon is there, implying that Ediie Brock will bond with the sybiote. That is what Venom is, the symbiote and a person. A Marvel person cant mistake this, so we now know Venom will be in Spidy 3
- Former Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad has said that there are four villains in Spider-Man 3: Venom, Sandman, Green Goblin II, and a mys... GG2? what i got from a source is is that they are alternating no story. no hobgoblin here folks
- ...and a mysterious fourth. He states that the fourth will be revealed during the next Comic Con. who is going to ComicCon??

Sexeh Kitteh - July 9, 2006 09:14 PM (GMT)
I vaguely remember all of those names >.<
(Cause I was lil when I got all into Spider-Man)
WHO HAS COMICS I CAN GEEK UP ON!?! And one of you needs to go to comic con >.>

l33t_ninja_thug - July 24, 2006 01:28 PM (GMT)
comicon has come and gone [hay, that rhymed!! wow im good ^^] and now, we have a little more info on this movie project that is sealed as tight as a pickle jar. striaght from ign...

Comic-Con 2006: Venom Revealed!
Spider-Man 3 panel packs 'em in.
by Stax

Without a doubt, the most anticipated part of Sony Pictures' presentation Saturday at Comic-Con International in San Diego was its panel for next summer's Spider-Man 3. Attending the packed presentation were director Sam Raimi and producer Laura Ziskin, along with the film's stars Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Thomas Haden Church, Bryce Dallas Howard and Topher Grace. Raimi finally (and rather anti-climatically) confirmed that the new villains in the film are indeed Sandman and Venom, and that James Franco's vengeful Harry Osborn will not be playing either the new Green Goblin or Hobgoblin in the movie.

Raimi debuted never-before-seen footage from Spider-Man 3, although a good amount of it was unfinished. CG animatics were in place of final special effects sequences in certain places but the rough nature of the footage did nothing to deter the responses from the thousands of fans that saw it. The footage, which was was cut as a trailer, begins with Peter Parker looking at his reflection in a mirror and then slowly revealing the new black Spidey costume underneath his street clothes. "All will be lost," we are told before we find Topher Grace's Eddie Brock praying in a church. And what is he asking of God? Why, to kill Peter Parker, of course!

The rest of the footage included battle sequences between Sandman and the police, as well as between Harry and Spidey. There are shots of love interests Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy, as well as shots of both Peter Parker and Eddie Brock becoming overwhelmed at different points by the black symbiote suit. The trailer ends with the "money shot": the first look at the CG-animated Venom in all his vicious glory! Fan reaction to this exclusive peek at Venom was through the roof. (Sadly, the panel only showed the new footage once.) Many of these wildly enthusiastic reactions were articulated during the Q&A session with Raimi and company that followed.

Comic-Con 2006: Spider-Man 3
The webslinger amazes with new footage and the first glimpse at Venom.
by Richard George

July 23, 2006 - Every year San Diego holds one main event for the fans. Last year we were treated to King Kong and Tenacious D. This year we got Sam Raimi and Spider-Man 3. In front of a packed house of 7,000 rabid nerds, Raimi brought out the stars of his movie: Kirsten Dunst, Bryce Dallas Howard, Thomas Hayden Church, Topher Grace and Tobey Maguire all joined the blockbuster director. Simply put, Raimi tore down the house with a sneak preview of the movie. He played a clip that took everything from the original trailer and extended those moments. We discovered who threw the pumpkin bomb. We see more of Sandman and what seems to be his motive in the movie. We see more of Peter Parker's anguish.

And we see Venom.

Venom
In many ways, a quote from Aunt May is going to frame the entire film. At the start of the teaser we saw, she says "Uncle Ben would not want us to live with revenge in our hearts." This not only applies to Peter's losses in the first two movies, but also to Eddie Brock's history and childhood. "I had been objecting to the lack of humanity [in Venom]… in studying him I gained an appreciation for him," said Raimi. "Venom has always been a character that the fans love… that's why he's in here."

While Raimi described the basic inclusion of Venom, Topher Grace provided the key element which made Venom the right villain for this third installment. Grace mentioned that Eddie Brock is a similar character to Peter Parker. He is a mirror to Parker in many ways with both of them working at the same place and having the same tastes in women. The difference between the two is that Eddie Brock has a terrible childhood. This version of Venom's alter ego seems to be an amalgamation of Venom stories. The core universe's Eddie Brock is a peer of Peter's, though not necessarily a mirror. The Ultimate version is more of a Peter but without a sense of morality. The cartoon's Eddie Brock was relatively faithful to the comic, though his origin varied, as did the core Venom from his ultimate counterpart.

The extended San Diego preview clearly established a sequence of events. Although not directly tied to the "origin of Venom" scene, we do see Eddie Brock in a church, praying to God for the death of Peter Parker. A theory here is that the "Dark Peter" steals Gwen who happens to be Eddie's love interest. Venom first appears in the trailer when Peter drives the symbiote from his body via sonics. The creature then leaks down from the tower, landing on Brock, who then turns into Venom. The facial design of Venom seemed pretty solid for such an early state. The artists clearly took inspiration from those who designed the character originally. Much of the trademark features remain, including the tongue. The trailer seemed to show a sleek Venom, though it remains to be seen if something in this movie version allows him to grow in size (mass, not height). We will see what other powers he gains or carries over from the symbiote's time with Spider-Man.

The panel that followed the trailer revealed one other semi-major plot point: at some point, Venom captures Mary Jane. We know it's absolutely the most shocking thing you've ever read, but we live for twists like this.

Sandman
We did not learn too much about Sandman save for three facts - he gets owned by Black Suit Spider-Man, he seems to be a sympathetic villain (or perhaps an anti-hero), and he looks incredible. Sony showed a promotional poster that depicted Sandman bracing himself for some sort of assault. The picture shows his back, and we can see he is pushing a child behind him. Thomas Hayden Church mentioned that his character has a wife and family, so perhaps Sandman is attempting to save his son.

It is also important to notice the timeline that is established by Peter Parker's suit. Unless he drives the suit and "regains" it (which is very possible given the comics), then we can see that Spider-Man has a huge battle in the subways and sewers prior to losing his suit. The trailer showed several battle pieces including one where Spider-Man is holding Sandman's head against a speeding subway car. As the car passes, it smashes and destroys more and more of Sandman's face. Another moment seems to show Sandman being flooded by water and being sucked into a device. And the special effects were very impressive, despite the fact that we have nearly a year to wait.

Peter Parker / Spider-Man
Peter, you are a bad, bad boy. Even in these two glimpses, we can definitely see a Spider-Man that is more vicious and willing to do what he wants and what it takes to get the job done. He begins to fall for Gwen. His tactics against Sandman are rather ruthless (despite Sandman's relatively invulnerable status).

And just who threw that pumpkin bomb at Harry's face? Peter Parker… unmasked, and in his black suit. Tobey refused to go into detail about Peter's insanity, but clearly he's going to sink to some new lows.

Revenge
If we had to choose one word to capture the essence of the first Spider-Man film, it would be "loss." "Responsibility" would seem to sum up the second. From what we've seen, "revenge" seems to be appropriate for this third installment. Eddie seeks justice against Peter for unknown crimes. We're wondering if Sandman is trying to save people from a darker Spider-Man. Peter Parker himself is seeking revenge for all the wrong done to him in his life. Likewise, Harry Osborn seeks to balance his life by seeking retribution. Sam Raimi was quick to point out, however, that Harry becomes neither the Green Goblin nor the Hobgoblin (speaking of which, you guys, Harry Osborn was never the Hobgoblin in the comics, so give it a rest). Raimi indicated that Harry straddles a line that hovers near sinking to his father's chaos, but doesn't quite get there. The guilt over his father's criminal legacy creates a balance to his desire for vengeance.

We can't wait to see where things go from here. Sony unveiled promotional posters for each character at the panel. Mary Jane's depicted her tangled in a web that was made out of some sort of barbed wire. Gwen Stacy was shown in college, studying hard. Venom was shown, tortured by his monstrous existence. The trailer was merely a teaser, showing us footage that was still in a very rudimentary form. Despite that, we saw amazing potential, and the peak at Venom demonstrated that visually Raimi's team knows what it is doing. We might be worried about the story, but again Sam and his group have a great grasp on some excellent character traits and designs. If Eddie Brock is shaped correctly, he could easily become a character that lives up to his popularity level.

May 2007 cannot come fast enough.

For those who want to know what Eddie Brock is doing at the church, at least how I rememebr in the comic, he's not praying to God to kill Peter Parker, he is however, asking forgivness from God because he's about to commit suicide which is because his life has gone downhill after being fired from the Daily Bugle, it's these dark feelings and the hatred of Spiderman/Peter Parker that draws the Symbiote to him, at least, that's how I remember it.

Well, that's cool Venom is in this one, but there is a Goblin of some sort according to the teaser, maybe Harry hires someone, well just have to see when it comes out I guess.

Okay, I read some stuff about the movie, I guess in this version Eddie asks God to kill Spiderman, kind of cheesy. But I guess the suicide stuff is too dark, although i think it would be better if they stuck with that story, fact is people do commit suicide, or come darn close to it, but I don't want to turn this into a suicide discussion.

I still think what they're possibly going with for Eddie's reason being at the church is cheesy.

I think the reason he was at the church was because he was after for a picture for spiderman, spiderman was about to through him off the ledge but he drops him and well, the church bell rings the suit falls off and falls on brock.

it is a good point. spidy did first find out the suit's weakness when the beell rang. and i believe its the same in the comics. but it would also be very bold to give venom a ndifferent weakness... so church it is
