Title: Gaia
Description: a rant

If you enjoy Gaia you might not want to read this >.<

Gaia Online -- by far one of the worst places on the internet if you ask me. Why?
Well, one, they have about 12,000 of their members all running around pretending to be global mods. As these people are playing their little pretend games, they're being really discourteous to their fellow members. It's fine that you're just educating someone about something they've done that's not right, but do you have to ALL jump on that one person at the same time?

Reason number two, it's overcrowed and overrated. When I said that there are 12,000 members pretending to be mods, I wasn't joking. There are really that many people. And more than half of them are those assholes (excuse my language) in chatrooms that nobody talks to most likely. Don't get me wrong, there are those few decent people...but its a ratio of 3 asses to 1 decent guy.

Reason number three, everything is serious. If it misses a tiny bit of the rules (which I will discuss next) about twelve different users have seisures and notify every ACTUAL global mod that exists. Really, most of the mods are nice. They're just doing their job when they warn that there's been a wrong doing. I'm not saying we should implement the "don't snitch" thing here, but don't get your panties in a bunch over simple simple things.
It doesn't make a very good impression on the new users if they have about 20 people down their throats on one topic because the new user simply missed a rule.

Reason 4: Everybody is crazy about the rules. That's no problem...but when the rules are scattered about the forum, it's hard to know what you can do and what you can't do. You may read the rules in the part of the forum labeled "sticky", but surely there is some thing else in a totally different space that says what you've done is "bannable".
You've got rules? -- Fine. Don't make it hard for people to READ them all.

(On that note about reading rules...who reads the rules and memorizes them by heart?)

Reason 5: Serious lack of things to talk about. It seems that when there is no topic that you're intrested in posting in, that's just it. Before you make a topic about something YOU actually want to discuss, be careful to comb the massive forum pages, because there is that occassional buttmunch who will recognize that your topic is the same as another posted a year ago and he'll be down your throat about it! Maybe I should say "she'll" instead of "he'll" from now on. In all honesty, the majority of the time you've got an idiot down your throat it's a bossy little hello kitty typing her slutty cyber sex giving mind away at you. (Yes, sometimes people PAY on Gaia to have cyber sex. It's not real money, but I got my point across there)

Reason 6: Servers...just that one word...servers...

Reason 7: Role Playing...it's decent...if you ignore the people ignoring your entire post as if you aren't existant

Reason 8: Idiots who misread things. In an earlier post of mines, I decided to show a few re-colors. They were simply that, re-colors. I stated for those who aren't DOA fans that I didn't create the characters they saw.
The next day, I was accused of art theft. I didn't claim that the art wasn't mines when I posted it. I just wanted an opinion or two. I put every one of those in Photoshop myself and edited it with all my time and patience making sure NOTHING was misplaced. And I'm now a "thief", talked to as if someone else spent those countless hours on it picking and choosing the best colors for certain areas. I could take being called "not creative", because the definition of creativity differs from person to person. If you don't think that my coloring is creative, that's your thought, I can't change that, but a "thief"? Let me break the word "thief" down by several definitions, so that anyone can see exactly why I'm not happy about this.

thief
: one that steals especially stealthily or secretly;
also : one who commits theft (felonious taking and removing of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful owner of it) or larceny (larceny is the unlawful taking of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful owner of it permanently)

And how may I ask, do I show that I am attempting larceny when I explain that I didn't create the characters and give LINKS to the people who did? (As well as names of companies) When in my asking for an opinion did I show any intent to "deprive" the rightful owner of it?

Yes, the words that scroll down my TV when I turn on DOA say that I can't take the images, but the law implies that I intend to sell or pass them off as my own. If it referred to every guy with an Ayane sig, every guy with a fan site, or an avatar, it would become ridiculous and the law is purposely set up so that that can't happen and every guy that posts a screenshot won't get sued because he likes the game. So why, when I post pictures that I've worked with am I suddenly a thief?

Reason 9 has been discussed throughout this whole post...the people. I won't waste your time another second about the people, because if you read this post you know what the people are like by now. I just want to conclude with the fact that the thing that makes my experience there worse are the sillyheads that hang out there! A few are nice and its fun when all of the decent ones happen to get together in one topic, but the majority of them are just...not the kind of people I find fun to spend time talking to because there's always something to be banned over somewhere and lighthearted fun doesn't exist once you click links to certain forums.

It's not really a GAME
It's more of a forum with pretty avatars that you can upgrade

Well, even though the main page and stuff say its a role playing community, its really more of a forum with pretty avatars that you can make look exactly like you want ._.

No need for so much words to explain why Gaia sucks. It sucked right from the beginning anyway if you ask me, even without those problems. XD
