okay i was just watching a episode, and umm yea im only 15 but im kind of mature for my age, i could understand almost anything, im what you say a deep thinker, but EVA confuses me! At first i thought it was fight then talk sort of thing then it just become, talk. okay, ive played a remake kind of thing of Starcraft, and the creator made the angels hella hard, while in the show they die after one thing, well what i started this for is, I DONT GET IT, help? also i just want to point out this is the most confusing anime in the world, it seemed cool at first then asuka started becomeing wierd, rei starts crying, evas become humans, rei clones everywhere EEK, okay i just had to say something and thanks u can close this but it would be nice for either a storyline or just a brief summery

make a list of all the things your confused of. BUT, before you do that, go and watch the movies. those answer some questions [but also make more] and kind of 'end' the series [>.> in a halo 2 sorta way]. bear in mind there are tons of questions left unanswered.. so some of your questions may not be answered. or, if you want to, wikipedia on EVA can answer your questions. i just advise watching the movies first before asking any questions

asuka gets wierd cause she is saddened that shinji was beating her in the sync tests.
rei cries cause the 2nd rei clone's [before EVA anime starts to the battle with the 16th angel, armisael] are in the 3rd rei clone. rei 3 cries cause she is new to stuff, yet has memories of it [upgraded deja vu, lol].
i dont get what you mean by evas becomes humans. is it that evas have human souls in them? eh.. next one
rei is cloned cause she is a shell. she can house a soul and is the core for the dummy plug system.

Ah, Evangelion. Mankind's strangest anime. I thought it was great, except Anno's a little too messed up. (obvious from the first 3 minutes of The End of Evangelion) Anyway, the Eva are supposed to be synthetic human beings, developed from research on the Angels, which came from the 2nd Angel Lilith, which is also the supposed mother of man as well. Twisted.

yea O.O, btw how many episodes are there? it doesnt seem to be many. its like FLCL, im not sure but i always say only like 5 episodes, and it made me sad, that show was well interesting haha, ahh well thanks, see i knew all this but i thought i was insane for thinking that :D

only unit 1 was made from lilith. the others are from adam, thats why gendo doesnt want anything bad to happen to unit 1

The mistake is to look for sense in Evangelion, because there is not much.
It pretents to be deep, but actually there is nothing behind it. Especially when using biblical names and references there is just little thought behind it, if even any at all.

It's just a really good atmosphere in the anime that makes you think, there are things that you don't understand in the background.

I think that people think too much about the story and plot, rather than the interactions of the characters. That's really why people like it so much, the chars. How's my new sig? Did it myself.

yeah, even Anno himself has said that the religious references were mostly cosmetic. Christianity was not (and still is not) a well-known religion in Japan, and the addition of such influences in Eva was to create a sense of mystery and a unique flavor to the series. the real focus of Eva are the personal problems faced by the main characters and they way they affect each other.

on the subject of eva, anyone else heard about the "rebuild of evangelion" project being worked on? :D

Should be interesting, although I like Sadamato's Manga rendition more by FAR. He just makes it seem better. Less sexuality(although more detail in the nudity, sadly) . Plus, his artwork is simply amazing. Best Manga style I've ever seen.

Does anyone know where to find scans, downloads, or a place to buy the Evangelion Artbooks?

Der Mond is, i think, the only artbook with Eva material officially released in the states. it's a Sadamoto artbook, so it's got stuff from other projects he's done. i've seen it in the big chain bookstores like Barnes & Noble and Borders for about $25.

your best bet for other books would be ebay or amazon, and occasionally i've seen locally-owned comic book and hobby shops that carry import books, or will order them for customers.

evamonkey has more information on art & design books and some images. and occasionally people will post download links if they have scanned a book or something, but that's not too often.

Sorry for double-posting, I need to let this out lol. I just watched the End of Evangelion on youtube. DEAR LORD, what is WRONG with Anno?! Was he beaten as a child or something?! Did his mother not love him, or is he just completely insane?! The absolute insane thing I have EVER seen. Twisted. Very, VERY messed up. I pray "Rebuild" changes the series completely.
