Title: Buying the 360

Secert[Lite - June 14, 2006 07:00 AM (GMT)
Okay i think i have enough money for the 360 and some games, The question is for those lucky 360 owners

Should i get the 360 and if so what games?
If not what should i do?(not get it?, what for lower price etc.)

Move if needed (i havent started much topics)

Hmmm...I've considered this question personally before. I have enough money for X360 and some games as well. But, I'm probably gonna wait a month or two...possibly three just to see if the X360 price will drop even a few dollars. But after hearing so many stories about people's 360's breakin and overheating...I'm not sure what to think. In my opinion, ya should hold off a month er two.

But, again, thats just my opinion :hmm:

Secert[Lite - June 14, 2006 07:40 PM (GMT)
hey any opinion is better than none and wasnt the xbox being considered to do that? ehh im not worried but lets see

Ignore the so-called issues people are having with their Xbox 360s. The cases are very rare and isolated. Concerning a price-drop, I wouldn't expect one until at least another 4-5 months. In my opinion, you should go for it.

Recommended games:

Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis
Condemned: Criminal Origins
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Call of Duty 2
Dead or Alive 4

okay sounds good Xbox/1 thanks

Dispite what you hear from Sony fanboys, the 360 is a fantastic system and is well worth your money. There's a pretty nice selection of games...but it favors FPSs much like PC does. lol

You want XBLive. Hands down.

As far as games? Hmm....Far Cry, Condemned, DoA, NFS Most Wanted...Call of Duty definately(you'll learn to hate snipers in multiplay), Hitman's pretty good...there're others as well.

Uhh..what types of games are you into?

Secert[Lite - June 14, 2006 11:12 PM (GMT)
games? any really and about XBL if u had the old XBL for reg xbox does it transfer?

Theres an option to do so on XBL's setup.

Oh yeah, people! Dont forget Perfect Dark Zero!

PDZ's okay...

I enjoy it. It's not great by any means, but it's fun. I only strictly recommend that if you are either already open-minded on FPSes, or not much into them to pick out great from not great.

Try it, though. I recommend a rental first. If you like it, then by all means buy it.

My advice is to wait until about November, the PS3 hits store shelves that month(or so I hear).

So, the price may come down a bit, if not, maybe there'll be some good packages/bundles available that give a better bang for the buck, it never hurts to wait a little.

This is my strategy anyways, I was going to buy one in August, but I'll wait until November when I have more money saved and everyone's attention is focused on the PS3, appearently, that system will boast around $700,but this is only what I've heard.

As for these flaming, melting disc Xbox360 rumors we've been hearing, as mentioned before, the incedents are very rare and most of them are horror stories made up by people loyal to Sony or Nintendo, or people who just dislike videogames for that matter.

I must ask, have you played Infection with 32 people online?
That my friend, is woth the whole $60.

I have one pre-caution to anyone with or is going to buy a 360.
Handle with care, I've already broke one by accidently droping it about 5 feet on a wood floor.

it is. it even survived the wraith of morgan webb when she did a segment on testing the machines durability. copied from WIKI

"Webb of Destruction", where Morgan tests the physical durability of three game consoles (GameCube, Xbox, PlayStation 2) to see which system(s) could still successfully function afterwards. Her tests included dropping a 20-pound weight on each of the consoles, striking the consoles with a 20-pound sledgehammer, and dropping them each off a 15-foot-high ledge. The PS2 was the first to be eliminated, failing to boot up after having the weight dropped on it. The Xbox was eliminated in the "drop off the ledge" test, it was rendered unplayable after the system's entire front side and power switch shattered. The GameCube was the only console to completely survive, successfully booting up after all three tests. Afterwards, Morgan seductively proclaims that "Ze losers must be punished", and she proceeds to destroy the Xbox and PS2 with the sledgehammer. Immediately following the segment, Morgan and Adam, sensing that some viewers would question the validity of the segment, revealed that they actually performed these tests twice, as to ensure that the results were not a fluke. On both occasions, the outcome was exactly the same as stated.

Be careful? Hell, that's with ANY system! lol

I have not played on Infection. Set it up one day, and if I'm online, send me an invite. I'm more than willing to try it if I'm not already preoccupied.

PS You shouldn't have to worry about these things falling anyway! WTF?!

What a waste to 2 perfect ps2 and xboxs

as far as games go, nearly every game on the 360 has a free demo out on the marketplace so you can try it out before you buy it.

so if there's a game you aren't sure of, you can play the demo to find out whether you'd like it or not.

Mills McDougle - June 22, 2006 12:38 AM (GMT)
I'll inform you that Far Cry doesn't get good until about 1-2 hours into it. The level right before the one where you get your Feral powers is when you'll find yourself getting sucked in.

Well...for me, anyway. PC version's still better, IMO.

Oh, and did I mention that TR Legend is fantastic? Best version.

Sexeh Kitteh - June 22, 2006 05:06 AM (GMT)
If I were you, I'd wait a little bit longer, I have a feeling that when the PS3 drops and at a @#$%load of money, if Xbox people are smart, they'll lower the price of their system to reel in some of the people too broke to afford a PS3 at that moment.

I don't know about games though. Dead or Alive 4 is one that was rated really good...there are ALOT of game demos out for the 360 now, try the demos for a little preview of the games...and if ever you get an official press source saying its GREAT but actual people who could care less about the soundtrack and all that crap say it sucks, I'd rent it first.

For example, Blade II for Xbox received a LOW LOW score on most official press reviews. However, I own the game myself and I found it fun, and definately worth playing. Remember, official sources include about nine other factors other than how fun it was playing the game and only a fraction of the review tells how fun the game itself was. (If somebody says camera angles suck, don't get it though...horrible camera angles are stupid)

it's doubtful that the xbox 360 is going to drop in price when the ps3 launches--the ps3 price is $500-$600 (depending on what version you get) so even without a price drop the 360 is still significantly cheaper.

Secert[Lite - June 22, 2006 07:35 AM (GMT)
I might not have to buy it, but i think i will even if i have to, im probably going to get it this Friday, then play it with my cousins on Sat at a big birthday party.

Does anything know how much the controllers cost? and what does the 400 360 include?

and btw thanks all for the advice,

so far im determined to get
the 360 with the hardrive
ATleast 3 controller(unless contollers are cheap enough)
DOA4
and im not sure but maybe one 4 player shooting game
gold v. just probably later

out of all the shooting multiplayer games which one do you guys think is the best?

janejana - June 22, 2006 07:48 AM (GMT)
$400 xbox comes with the hard drive, a dvd remote, wireless controller, headset, hi-def. cables and...chrome detailing. lol

wired controllers are $40, wireless controllers are $50 and a play-and-charge kit is $20. if you are getting wireless controllers, i highly recommend picking up a play-and-charge kit for it, the wireless controller sucks up batteries like a vaccuum. you'll end up paying waaaaaaay more on batteries in the long run, unless you play infrequently.

also if you're going to get XBL, wait until you can get a yearly subscription--the other pay methods--monthly & every 3 months--cost more if you keep renewing them.

out of the fps call of duty 2, g.r.a.w. and perfect dark zero are the most popular. pdz is a lot cheaper & more 'general' than the other two (by that i mean there's usually SOMETHING you'll find to like about it, even if you end up liking other games a lot more).

CoD's multiplayer is rediculously good...just kinda stressful.

But its so..... Fraggy-ish. To much death!
I'd go for G.R.A.W if you like using a brain, and PDZ if you like something that isn't totally fraggy...ish.
