Title: Instrumental Fun
Description: Anybody here play as instrument?

ayane's boyfriend - October 10, 2005 04:03 AM (GMT)
I'm starting this post up with a question:does anybody here play a musical instrument?

I play bass myself, I'm currently going to a music college and I also teach private lessons at a music store/school.
I've always been attracted to the fullness of bass, but the fact that it can sound like guitar or drums is so cool. That is just one of the reasons I love to play bass.

i play the piano, but not very well. i sing, too, but that isn't really an instrument... ^^

Janejana... I absolutely adore your sig and avatar. Like, you cannot believe.

Currently, at the moment:
Violin, Flute, Electric Guitar, and I can proudly say the recorder as well.

EDIT:

There's that, but I guess it's too old to be bumped.

@Ayane's Boyfriend: Can you recognize chords? I've been trying to find a time to take music theory, but it's just not happening... If you can, will you please help me?
Thanks a bunch.

Guitar and Bass. I've know how to play Guitar (6/12 String) Since I was about 13, now I'm catching on to bass, not my favorite, but it's fun.

thanks everyone ^^

on topic: i did play the violin for a few years in elementary school, but all of my teachers were really mean and i ended up dropping it. (i found out one of them was fired for racism a few years ago O.O )

Well so far I play only 2 instruments with experience the piano and violin. I played 4-5 years of violin still currently too ;) and about 2 years of piano with a very strict teacher, always gives me a scare. I also learned to play the recorder briefly when I was little but I forget, if that counts. :pinch:

I'm currently teaching Bass and Guitar, as for piano, I know a little, the theory and such. However, I'm not proficient enough on it to consider myself a piano player.
Yeah, some of those teachers can be intimidating, one instructor at the college told one student, who did play a decent solo on guitar by the way, and everyone was impressed. He said " I'd rather sit and watch my mother get raped than listen to you play another note on that guitar."
As for me, I feel that I may intimidate some of my students even when I don't mean to. I mean, if I get some smart cable cord people in there who don't practice and figure that he/she knows everything then I'm hard on them, usually involves breaking the ego by showing what good practice habits can do for a musician. If I get some student, any level or age, and they come in and say, teach me, I'm here to learn, I'm very nice.
Don't get me wrong, I'm strict with technique and I'll tell a student what they're doing wrong, how I do, depends on the student.

i haven't met a music teacher (well, a worthwhile one) that hasn't intimidated his or her students at some point, so i wouldn't think of it as out-of-the-ordinary or something you'd want to change...

intimidation is a pretty useful tool in breaking misconceptions, as you've noted. ^^

I wanted a guitar or drumset for a long time, but I never actually got to buy an instrument for I am a poor trees. =o
So I'm more into computer music.
Oh, but sometimes I do 'itemcore' - that's using non-instrument objects and growling along! =D

uhm... trees = bastard - damn censorship.

I play the electric guitar, and I've done so for 4 years now.

My guitar teacher is wicked. He just teaches me songs and solos, tapping all that, and hes not all tight about practicing. He also plays sweet stuff like solos and everything.
