Story revolves around, a 15 year old junior high by the name of Kurozaki Ichigo, who is gifted with the ability to see and communicate with ghosts. One day a ghostly woman dressed in black enters Ichigo's room. Unbeknowst to Ichigo, the woman is known only as a "Shirigami" or "Soul Reaper" who sends ghosts and spirits to "Soul City" (heaven). She than proceeds to tell Kurosaki about different spirits of good, evil and their roles. It is during that time an evil spirit known only as a "Hollow", attacks the home of Icihigo as well as his family. As the female Shirigami tries to attack the Hollow, she is mortally wounded and unable to fight. Desperate to save his family, Ichigo asks the "Shirigami", who introduces herself as Kuchiki Rukia, if there is any way to beat the Hollow. With her sword known only as the "Soul Slayer", she transfers her power of the "Shirigami" into Ichigo who then defeats the Hollow and saves his family. This is however is only the beginning for Kurosaki Ichigo. With Rukia as his mentor, he must now take over the role of "Shirigami" to battle the Hollow as well as learning the true meaning of friendship and trust in this comedic and action packed series. ;)
