I saw a picture of the Playstation 3 in a local newspaper, and I saw the specs of it too. It says that the PS3 is twice the power of the 360. As biased as the newspaper is, who thinks this is true? The world is full of mystery.

I believe the PS3 is more powerful, but I have to compare the specs more. If Killzone 2 is any indication, though, then Sony's got some real power on their hands.



But, the 360 will surely end up costing less, and I don't think that Sony is ready to battle Microsoft in the online arena.

I believe that both systems will be backwards compatible, which is a great thing. :D

Though the Sony is powerful, I believe the microsoft will kill it, one because Bill Gates is on their side :P

well, fans don't make the console have better graphics, its the Video card and more. It also depends on the memory chip, the ability to read fast and load at a lotted amount of time. But anyways like I said, we'll all see. I guess i'm spending around $500 for the console and DoA:4 correct? It'll be more if it is Online (I hope so). I hope DoA:4 is worth the money I am spending because thats the main game I want from 360. The main game I want from PS3 is Armored Core, thats the best Mech game ever. Dont know what it is? I don't know if this is true but I read that you can hook up an Xbox 360 and a PS3 together and game on.

Why woukld they let you do that? It is stupid.

PS3 is more powerful. No denying that.

It's a good thing I'm still a PC person. I won't have to deal with having the better console or going on any console bandwagons.

It is prerendered, yes, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it's not what the PS3 is capable of. Or we can just look at that new Need For Speed or Fight Night.

Look at the specs. Sony and Microsoft already stated the cabablities of both systems. DVD for both is different so I hear. PS3 will have a Blue Laser to read DVD's. Xbox 360 is going to have a normal DVD rom drive to play DVD's. But as far as graphics goes the both of these systems are neck and neck together. We cannot really say what is gong to be the best. Some say Xbox 360 is going to rock or going to die early. Some say PS3 is going to rock but also yet some say it's going to suck. We can't say nothing yet untill 2006. And I don't believe E32k5 is going to cover much.

If anything, this debate will boil down to one primary aspect: which console will have the larger library of games and third-party support.

Console spects mean absolutely jack-squat if there's no titles and third-party support to back it up.

My money's still on Nintendo. They've been here even before Sony and Microsoft showed up, and they're still in the business to date.

No actually that is real-time, they showed a demo of that and claimed it wasn't CG. My prof is that they said it at E3 and that G4 E3 thingy.

I saw that too. Later on they said it was CG. Right now it's a mixed-bag. I know for a fact it's CG but the question is, will games really look and play like that? I sure hope so.

From what I know, it is prerendered, but it could be very close to what the system can actually do.

Yeah, that was what I was trying to break down to my friend. He was like "I'm going for PS3. Look at it! I'm moved by gameplay and blah blah blah..." I was trying to tell him that Xbox has an overall better impression simply because they've been revealing gameplay elements to a lot more of their games than PS3. Then he was like "That's your opinion; all they've really shown for Xbox is FPSs." And then I wondered how he didn't realize all of the FPSs that Sony has been showing off...

i think the killzone 2 vid is in game cause thats waht they say, but i think the xbox 360 can do that too, anyone seen ghost recon 3-my jaw droppes its incredible and deffinattely in-game.. i think sony is trying too hard to look to be better than microsoft, because they know that microsoft is going to revolutionaze gaming first

Killzone 2 is not in-game. It's scripted, how could it be in-game? Also, you do know that an artist made that two months ago, right? Sony hired them to make it for E3. I'm not saying games won't look that good, I'm just saying Killzone 2 was not in-game.

Well for one thing, at least there won't be a Windows XP SP2-like OS running on the Xbox 360 (I hope). If it did, then I would go to the store, find a box, open it up and start beating the crap out of it.

Well one of the good things they said about Xbox 360 at the E3 thingy that you get to listen to all of your custom tracks with all games so that will be cool :dancebaby:

I've been trying to post here for a while but my comp. was krap.

Since half of my possie are XBOX fans and im a total NINTENDO loyalist i'll be playing both systems. We've always shared a common hatred for SONY and PS2, (which by the way,i have noticed that players of FINAL FANTASY always look unhealthy).


I also saw some people who said they would just buy the "more powerfull system" which is absolute bull.

Now remember that this is just my oppinion but those gamers that hold no loyal ties in such a was are consumer whores and will be utterly decimated in the times to come.

I believe he's talking about hardcore FF goers. They put every once of their life into those games, and it sucks them dry. But, I can't say that I've seen the same of the sort.

I most say that i love xbox and I will olso love the 360...... I only boying the PS3 if there is coming many tekken´s to it but the first i do is to buy the Xbox360 :)

you know the xbox got a lot of hate from many sony fans, I still don't understand why but it made me angry, also the arrogance of sony with the playstation 3 makes me angry, they are all about having the best machine, like I give a damn !! I just wanna play great games !! I don't care if the PS3 has them or xbox 360, playstation 1 had great games but PS2 was disappointing with games, so I changed to xbox, right now if I had to choose I would buy a xbox 360 and not a PS3, they let me down a bit with the PS2 :hmm:

PS3 is not in a better standing than 360. If it was, their wouldn't be so much controversy surrounding the realism of the pics, movies, etc.

There are three critical performance aspects of a console:

Central Processing Unit (CPU) performance.

The Xbox 360 CPU architecture has three times the general purpose processing power of the Cell.

Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) performance

The Xbox 360 GPU design is more flexible and it has more processing power than the PS3 GPU.

Memory System Bandwidth

The memory system bandwidth in Xbox 360 exceeds the PS3's by five times.

The Xbox 360's CPU has more general purpose processing power because it has three general purpose cores, and Cell has just one.


Cell's claimed advantage is on streaming floating point work which is done on its seven DSP processors.


The Xbox 360 GPU has more processing power than the PS3's. In addition, its innovated features contribute to overall rendering performance.


Xbox 360 has 278.4 GB/s of memory system bandwidth. The PS3 has less than one-fifth of Xbox 360's (48 GB/s) of total memory system bandwidth.

CONCLUSION
When you break down the numbers, Xbox 360 has provably more performance than PS3. Keep in mind that Sony has a track record of over promising and under delivering on technical performance. The truth is that both systems pack a lot of power for high definition games and entertainment.

However, hardware performance, while important, is only a third of the puzzle. Xbox 360 is a fusion of hardware, software and services. Without the software and services to power it, even the most powerful hardware becomes inconsequential. Xbox 360 games—by leveraging cutting-edge hardware, software, and services—will outperform the PlayStation 3.

PS3 X360 comparison this suggests the 360 is better and i beleive it, anyone seen the ff7 tech demo, that is what the ps3 can do, no one can do better graphics that square enix they have the best technology and the biggest developing company ever!! so killzone 2 must be cg there is no way they can make such graphics that kill what square can do :yes:
