Title: Kansai dialect, Tokyo dialect, yada yada yada...
Description: I need to know! lol

Heh, well, I've only JUST NOW figured out exactly what Asuka is saying in Tekken 5, and why it sounds that way, thanks much to a member of the Zaibatsu forums. :D

OK, here's the question. She says 'anta yowai wa', and the person referred to is as Kansai dialect, which is the reason why it sounds like that. So I looked it up, and now I see Tokyo dialect floating around in my searches! So, I'm curious now. What are these different dialects exactly? How many different ones are there? How do I distinguish them? To whomever knows, can you post examples as well? Thanks much. ^_^

it's impossible to explain our dialects exactly in such a thread thing. lol. i have to publish several books to do it. actually, many of japanese natives couldn't understand other's dialects.

So, in a sense, it's the same as how we use completely different accents and slang in different parts of the US?

unfortunately, i've never been to US, so i couldn't answer. :D

It can be the same, for instance someone in the southern US will say a different word that what we're used to back west. There's a fine line of similarity.
