Title: Getting Used to Countering

DarkFox101 - December 12, 2004 12:10 AM (GMT)
Usually I have the most trouble Countering than blocking. I use :left: Free.
And :diagupleft: Free, and :diagdownleft: Free. I have to get used to :right: Free....

I'm gonna arrange a game where we can practice this.

Its for the better. Its so people can't just sit there and spam mid counter over and over. It makes the game even simpler than it already is...at least there's mid mixups now. The only way i think a mid counter (for both Punches and Kicks) would be good is if the low counter didn't tech crouch. Its ok in DOA3 when counters didnt do as much, but in DOA:U, counters do waaaay too much for there to be a universal mid counter.

And dont spam counter either. You'll get thrown a lot.

DarkFox101 - December 12, 2004 12:36 AM (GMT)
Yeah I already know that. I just need to practice countering. Maybe we could have a match eh XCTU?

the only time i mid counter is for wakeup attacks and if the person is usining :zack: and acasanly :tina: and mildly :kasumi:

I'm starting to think like dan... I'm starting to get used to countering. I've won alot of rounds because of it.

"Countering always prevail"

this wont fit in my comment........

I'm pretty much used to counter attacks and I'm really good at it, I know that I have to use the high counter a lot on Jann-Lee and the mid counter on Gen-fu and the low a lot on....well everyone who isn't Bass or Tina really :)

i would if i didnt have the worst lag ever.

Dan - December 12, 2004 08:18 PM (GMT)
still having lag, eh? i thaught i remember you saying the lag was gone......

XCTU - December 13, 2004 06:41 PM (GMT)
if you read what i wrote more carefully i said that i had one day without a lot of lag, but then the next day and from then on it was still laggy.

The old "countering" dilema......that's still a noggin scratcher...even for me.

@Talim

Have you seen the advantage a "blocker" has in DoAU? It's pretty dumb....able to capitalize from various attacks and such.

Dan - December 15, 2004 02:05 AM (GMT)
i heard that doa 3.1 disables that in whish you do a move there block is weaken so you can do a move

is this true.

If your refering to "guard breaks" then yes. All the "grappler" characters have these chained to specified normal moves, i'm not sure about the other charcters though.

Certain attacks have become "guard breaks".

Also, unlike Hitomi's guard punch, many of these moves don't need to be charged at all, thus making potential "blockers" nothing more than "bait" to be squandered.

Dan - December 16, 2004 12:25 AM (GMT)
so in reality they are getting weaker.....

Not necessarily. In playing that version, your playstyle may need to be altered a bit to accomodate for the extra abilities.
Blocking remains the same as before. If you tend to block a lot, then depending on who your facing, may have the ability to break your guard instantly....leaving you HIGHLY vunerable to a hoarde of stupid throws and/or attacks.
What i do know is that Kasumi and Hayate have a few more added moves to their moveset.

I'll see if i can find this info for you.

Also like stated before, the "grapplers" of DoA3.1 have become even more dangerous than in 3. Definately forces to be feared.

Talim JP - December 18, 2004 02:34 PM (GMT)
My Leifang is afraid of no one. They may whip her butt but she still ain't afraid.

Someone who blocks too much will get thrown if they aren't careful.

SCII has guard breaks (and unblockable moves for that matter) as well.

I don't think 3.1 takes care of the multitude of problems with DOA.

To me DOA2 seems faster and I wish we had the 3.1 moves and characters.
