Title: Izuna Drop lesson
DarkFox101 - November 15, 2004 01:42 AM (GMT)
In DOAU its actually very hard to pull this little move off. I don't understand why. But here is the move for Izuma drop. Both Counter and Grab.
For Grab-
Step 1
:left: :diagdownleft:  :diagdownright: :right: Grab
Step 2 (Enemy in air)
 :diagdownright: :right: :diagupright:   :diagdownright: :right: :diagupright:  Free
Step 3 (Ryu grabs enemy in air)
:left: :diagdownleft:  :diagdownright: :right: :diagupright:  :left: :diagdownleft:  :diagdownright: :right: Free
(Ryu finishes of the move spinning towards the ground with opponent)
For counter-
Its the same thing but when Ryu counters the opponent he tosses them in the opposite direction. So make sure you combine steps 2 and 3 in the opposite direction from where Ryu is facing and he should complete the move in a flash.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Don't be rash if I am. :)
If Step 3 isn't done don't worry. Damage is still done. But not the full amount.

Tahts my favourite move. Did you ever made that move in the lost world Arena when the enemy is at the edge of a pillar? Ryu screams loude than normal!

The easiest way to pull this off is by one or two methods....
a) Use the "analog" function. Just time the "combo throw", and using the "free/throw" button makes combo throwing a joke....litteraly.
or
b) Do complete "360 degree" motions on the d-pad while accurately pressing the "throw/free" button. The game registers this as performing the move succesfully (don't ask me why, i still don't know myself).
Just a remainder that the Izuna is only "max damaging" from a "counter hold". My game with hayabusa is extremely rusty since i've placed most of my time solely on Tina and Bass. Once i'm able to accurately complete this from a counter hold without using the analog function (cheaters..... :eyebrow: ), my game with him will be on an entire new level for sure. :angel_not:

Same here. I'm kinda rusty with Ryu too. I'm just pissed because I can't pull of his Izuna Drop as much like I used to in DOA3...
kasumiluv92 - November 15, 2004 11:07 PM (GMT)
i luv that move! its just so hard 2 pull off...
Dan - November 15, 2004 11:10 PM (GMT)
set the analog feature on
but im trying to it with the analog but with out the faeture on
DarkFox101 - November 16, 2004 01:54 AM (GMT)
I had tried it with the Analog stick. Its the same as the D-Pad. I use the d-pad because I'm more used to it. I used it alot during DOA3.
Hayabusa316 - November 16, 2004 07:09 AM (GMT)
I always combine both Stick and Pad. I´m starting with the Pad and the other 2 actions are done by stick. Thats the way i masterd it.

Sorry dan, but that's not the way of the Hayabusa art. Mastering the "Izuna Drop" require's much more skill than just a mere button....
Now only if that was a real quote....lol
Analog mode's for cheaters.....plain and simple. :eyebrow:
Dan - November 17, 2004 11:16 PM (GMT)
i dont use the "mode" i use IT(analog)
Hayabusa316 - November 18, 2004 02:09 PM (GMT)
I prefer the hard way. Anyway i didnt new about that mode a few weeks ago. I always made it the hard way.
Dan - November 18, 2004 08:14 PM (GMT)
i am having a bit of trouble doing low celing izuna throw and counter. any help?
DarkFox101 - November 18, 2004 08:22 PM (GMT)
Low ceiling Izuma Drop is the same way as doing it with no ceiling. Just time it right.
Talim JP - November 19, 2004 10:47 AM (GMT)
Can this throw be broken in the air (it says combo hold in blue doesn't it?).
If the opposing player hits throw is there the possiblity of breaking it? You'll just be thrown in the air and then fall down?
Mysterious Duelist - November 22, 2004 08:47 AM (GMT)
Not a chance ^^
The Izuna Drop cannot be escaped once it connect's. Unlike most combo throw's and hold's. Which is one of the reason's it so deadly. Especially in Hi-counter status. ^^
~M_D~ :ph43r: I realy have to start posting here again lol!!
Talim JP - November 22, 2004 02:32 PM (GMT)
Unbreakable- got it- thanks!

Correct, MOST combo throws are breakable, Tina's, Lei Fangs, but as far as i know, Izuna Drop and Kasumi's 8P+F, 4P+F combo throw are the only unbreakable ones.
oh and using analog isn't gonna help you get better at it.
wirbelwind - November 25, 2004 05:46 PM (GMT)
I actually found this move quite easy to do. Now I use hayabusa whenever my friends are over. I can give some tips.
btw, I use the d-pad. The main thing to realize is you DON'T have to follow the commands EXACTLY. As long as you do more, not less, it's ok. For example, when it's "half-circle forward", I often go "over" and do 7412369. It still works.
To grab the enemy, hcf(half-circle forward). Not too hard motion.
THE HARDEST PART IS "getting up there"
23698 (half-circle up)
once u "get up there", it's dead easy.
Just mash the d-pad in the OPPOSITE direction. I mean rub it. I mash 2, sometimes 3 circles on the d-pad. You have the time while you're up there, and the throw is unescapelb.e Don't worry, doing more is always ok. This game is not as precise as other ones.

You guys ever try this move in a low ceiling place i did it at that little entrance to the bridge at the yozakura and instead of grabbing him in the air he pops out of the ground with him and spins him into the wall and if you miss the wall he arches him into the ground instead it's so awesome :D :dancebaby:

I just recorded myself doing that using battle record is there any way of putting it onto the computer?

I did this in Demon's church. Poor Ein crushed the bell and then flew to the wall with me.
Mr.Cruncher - September 1, 2005 06:14 PM (GMT)
Yeah... I've mastered that move... counter and grab wise.
I've always tried to go to the demon's church and do the Izuna drop out of the window... but it's not supposed to work...
