Title: The new OXM
Description: Great stuff

Just got it last night. They got to review Halo 2 while all of the other magazines are talkin' all of the "We have the inside scoop on the single player game but we can't tell anything!!!"(can you say 'pwned'?) They gave it a 9.7, making it it's highest rated game. Prince of Persia came in right behind it with 9.6.
Oh yeah, and their disc has Phantom Dust on it! :D

For goodness sake, are they afraid to give the game a 10?

PCGamer's the same way. They gave Half-Life 2 a 98%. They said that the AI should know better to move away from a door that you're trying to get through, so they downgraded it 2%. And with Doom 3 they gave it a 95% because they said the humor was bad and the nerdspam was stupid. I'd say that reason to downgrade a game is stupid; not the nerdspam. But I digress... :pinch:

Both these magazines use the excuse "But if we rate this a 10, and we find a better game, what do we do?" But using this theory means that no game ever made will get a 10. Silly.

That's because the reviewers fully breakdown each and every aspect down to the nitty gritty. In game design, no product is perfect....by anymeans. If a product even reaches the 90% range, then they deserve a pat on the back.
I don't know too much on the aspects of game design, but i have taken an intro course at my college, and you wouldn't believe the technical properties that must be done....just to get your idea off the ground.

Oh so very true. But the reason why Mr. Smith(of OXM) gave it a 9.7(I think) is because it still doesn't finish telling the story of Halo. Well, that and usage of fimiliar locales.
