Corey Yuen to Direct Dead or Alive Source: Variety Thursday, March 11, 2004

Hong Kong helmer Corey Yuen will direct Dead or Alive (aka "DOA") for Impact Pictures, says Variety. Based on Tecmo's best-selling video game franchise, the script was written by J.F. Lawton (Under Siege, Pretty Woman).

Production is planned for the end of the year after Yuen has wrapped Transporter 2, the sequel to 2002's The Transporter, for producer Luc Besson.

"DOA" continues Impact and Constantin's exploitation of video game properties, which began with the 2002 hit Resident Evil. The companies' follow-up, Resident Evil: Apolcalypse, is being released on October 1.

From what I've heard, it's going to be live action, but nothing has been made official yet so we'll see

lemme guess... in this movie.. none of the game characters will make an appearance.. they will create a damn whole bunch of new characters as an excuse cuz they cant copy the game character, (cuz its hard to search real women under 30 y/o w/ 34-36DD breasts and can move like a ballerina...lol)... lot of movies did this mofo trick... ie: resident evil (crap movie by the way).. ff: spirits w/in (another crud).. house of the dead (really blows), .. and many more game movie based that i cant remember due to unholy suckiness... the only game to movie that passed was the first Tomb Raider... angelina and lara are twins.....lol

I didn't like the FF movie either, but at least it was CG.

oded fehr would make a real good ryu, but its too old for ryu's age i guess, the only other person i can think of is colin farrell, but i just cant see him as ryu correctly

Ok I dont think he/she has to look 100% like the fighter they are playing as. As long as they can act, fight, and maybe have done at least one or two movies he or she should be alright.

Since DOA is pretty much fictional on the whole 'ninja' side I think anyone can play her part as long as they can kick super high ;D

Well first of all F. Prinze is a really lousy actor. So I'd hate the movie for that alone. Secondly, the name Hayabusa Ryu (or Ryu Hayabusa, whatever you want) sounds pretty Japanese to me. And Mr. Prinze isn't really Japanese nor even Asian at all now is he? And come on, Ryu in the live Action Street Fighter Movie was Asian! Even in such a bad film they use an Asian actor. No, really I mean it. I will NEVER watch this movie if they aren't consequent in that. Japanese/Chinese etc. should be played by Japanese/Chinese... or at least Asian people. So Sean Connery, (though a splendid actor) seems like a pretty bad choice to me to. And ###### who IS Tara Reid.... And Ein is actually Hayate and Hayate is Japanese so Tom Cruise is OUT. :lol:
Hulk Hogan seems as a splendid choice since there's nothing more obvious as to how Bass was completely inspired on Hogan. And if not, the resemblance is TOOOO big for comfort. I mean come on... Bass is a carbon copy!

And don't ask me who I think should play those roles, I don't care since I don't WANT a live action movie.
