Title: He's more cheaper than it seems...

Okay, we all know of Hayate and his insane yet extremely fast elbow antics. Well what's even worse is his sweep!

Hayate's Sweep:
a) command attack, which makes for easy activation
b) automatically places you in a stunned state
c) manuver can be abused continuously
d) can create "fear" in an opponent when it comes to this move, resulting in countering low almost always
e) the "setup game" is a huge plus from this move
f) from a critical hit, it instantly knocks down an opponent

I've actually found this move to be quite effective...more effective than his elbow attack. It's true that hayate's the fastest male character in the game, but it's also a given fact that most of us are knowlegeful of his "elbow game" also, which is why the sweep is more effective.

You can create a guessing game between these two moves of course, but you can also perform this move while running! This creates confusion between this and the elbow, and if your playing against someone who can effectly utilize this move, you can be placed in a bad advantage for the hayate player.

Insane speed and high/mid/low mixups are the way to success! I've watched many tourney vids and what most of them all have in common is his elbow.

Hayate's sweep is such an advategous move, it's kinda sad to see players not implementing this attack more...

Hayate's elbow is still more powerful for just statistical reasons. I mean i2 on BLOCK? Come one that is just cheap, not to mention 66(hold)P can beat 100% of the moves in DoA3 (minus rising attacks). That's just insane. What I find even more annoying is his stupid guaranteed starters like 9PP or 33KK this allows him to really bring in the pressure.

True, but you lose a lot of that momentum if you know when to counter some of those moves.

Also the "blocking" priority is a pain in the butt like you said because he has the highest recovery rate of any character in DoA3.

Which is why i rely more on his sweep than his elbow antics....highly predictable...but not from his sweep.

Ehh too me I see many Tekken-style punishers using the elbow as a fall back and primary in the future. But at least DoA has a system that will own people who use one attack too much. So Hayate is a bit cheap... but he isn't T4 Jin. :D

Thanks for the info blueboy. I hardly use the sweep that much but I get what you're saying. I may have to reevaluate my Hayate.
