Title: Hitomi Throw Setup Study

XCTU - August 8, 2004 09:11 PM (GMT)
Ok, this is a first time thing that i tried (trying to live up to my title). Basically, i went through her movelist and found all the canned strings that she has, and seeing if the move, on hit or block leaves the opponent standing normally. The thing is, i found ones that have another hit after them in order to bait the counter or keep the opponent from attacking and interrupting your throw. And i also list every possible followup to that move, here goes, it may seem basic, but i tried it and it works really well, and it shows all your different options on paper. Of course, you'll have to mixup actually hitting them with the third hit and doing the throw, but its worth it if you can outsmart your opponent. And if this doesnt work, then most likely, your opponents will fall for just simple canned string mixups and they'll get CHed a lot by whatever move you end it with.

I rate them on a scale of usefullness 1-5, 5 being most useful, 1 being like, only average. This is only my personal opinion, so some may be worse, some may be better in your opinion. And do note that if your opponent likes to counter low, use the 2P+F in place of her 33P+F.

PP (HH)
-33P+F (H)
-P (M)
-6P (H)
-P (M)
-2K (L)
-K (H)
-5/5 Easily her best one, PP into throw has got me so many HC throws, and its REALLY fast, too, plus she has a LOT of options from a simple PP, veeeery good. I abuse it like whoa.

4P (H)
-33P+F (H)
-P (H)
-33P+F (H)
-P (M)
-K (L)
-K (L)
-33P+F (H)
-P (M)
-5/5 Very similar to her PP, but a bit slower and most opponents are prolly unfamiliar with this string so you may be better off doing all three hits before you start doing throw setups.

66KK (MM)
-33P+F (H)
-K (H)
-6K (M)
-3/5 You kind of need to time it so that right when the quick stun wears off, you throw them.

6KK (MH)
-33P+F (H)
-P (M)
-2/5 Nothing special, not really a good mixup cause of the little options, but it may work.

3KP (MH)
-33P+F (H)
-P (M)
-K (H)
-2K (L)
-6P (H)
-K (M)
-2K (L)
-P (M)
-4/5 Tons of options, the P recovers fast, but sometimes 3K on hit will kind of stun the opponent, meaning that it wont work because the opponent will be stunned.

2K (L)
-33P+F (H)
-K(M)
-2K(L)
-3/5 most people wont even notice when 2K hits them, so they'll prolly just keep attacking. Give them a bit of 2K K_2K mixups first and get them to start countering or like, blocking.

1K (L)
-33P+F (H)
-K (M)
-P (M)
-6P (H)
-K (M)
-2K (L)
-4/5 Lots of options off a good low, and the 1KP puts them in a really harsh stun where deathfist/33P are guaranteed unless they counter.

66P (H)
-33P+F
-PP (MM)
-K (M)
-2K (L)
-4/5 Hella good, great options, fast recovery.

Ok thats it for Hitomi, i did it for Kasumi and Helena already, but if nobody cares about this one, then i dont really feel the need to post Kas or Hel's either. Comments? Correct me if my info is wrong at places. thx. Also, Hitomi's is the only one i actually went and tried in actual matches, so I wont have the */5 ranking for those.

Wow, great stuff.

This should come in handy for Hitomi fans out there when the game releases.

Provided everything is the same in DOA:U & DOA3. =/

I'll do Kasumi next since she seems to be a popular character. But since things are diff in DOA3 and DOA:U, i wouldn't count too much on using these for DOA:U. I might update them or something when the game comes out and i can see all the differences and stuff.

True. I'm not sure how much of a difference will be between the two games.

Her mid kick and low kick holds are better than her set up throw in my opinion. If I throw with Hitomi it's usually just 236P+K. Hitomi is more like Zack in that she is a huge SS/Wall demon. I usually find myself ending matches in front of wall with those two.

Umm...i don't quite understand what you're saying. Holds have nothing to do with setting up a throw...unless your opponents do them and you get Hi-counter throw damage...

I agree with you XFocus. Hitomi's an efficent character when it comes to her throw setups. You can pretty much play around with your opponent's actions and bait them into doing what you want them to.
