Well, like everyone here I love DOA! My favorite is Kasumi. (If she were real I'd hunt her down and marry her.) (Interesting side note I've met Kasumi's VAs Tange Sakura and Kuwashima Houko, not to mention Yui Horie.)I'm black and I speak english and Japanese. (Crazy huh? A black person who speaks fluent Japanese. Go figure.)
travel between Denver, Colorado and Fukuoka, Japan on a faily regular basis. And the latest news is that I recently turned 16.
I LOVE KASUMI!!!!!
Please regard me favorably!

For the past few years its been my luck to be in Japan at the same time as the TGS (Tokyo Game Show) It was at last years that I met Kuwashima Houko and Yui Horie. They were there to promote DOAXVB which had some out sortly before. Ms. Tange was at the 2000 TGS for DOA2. Truthfully speaking there are so many people at the TGE that I feel overwhealmed, so All my conversations seem to go:
Hello, pleasure to meet you
Same here
I just love your work, you really bring life to ...
Thank you, your Japanese is remarkable.
Thank you, it was chatting, hopefully we'll meet again.
Absolutely!

Hei, u speak fluent Japanese? Well terrific and i'm even more impressed that u know how to read and write Japanese Kanji. I am Chinese, and i'm very upset that i'm the only one in my family who can't speak or write Chinese, after all if one knows how to read and write "Han Yin Pin Yin",(Chinese writng) learning Japanese is much easier. Well enough about my problems, cause this threads about u. So many welcomes and i hope u enjoy your stay in this forum. :D

Trust me, it's better to be the only white person in a sea of "minorties" than it is to be the only minority in an ocean of white people.

I would hate to have to learn Chinese [No offence] The really nice thing about Japanese is having a way to just spell things "phoneticly" but you don't get that with Mandarin. Actually My cousin speak fluent Mandarin, he does something in Taiwan for the gov't or something, I dunno it doesn't matter, but he says the hardest thing about Chinese is that when speaking one thing can mean 4 different things depending on tonal inclination.

There have been many times when I thought about trying to learn Korean, but I've never understood how you stack the letters
oh well.

Call me stupid, but what the difference between Chinese and Japanese speaking?

Well, for example English and Japanese are non-tonal languages, regaurdless of how you say something it always has the same meaning, always. Chair will mean chair wheather you shout it or whisper it, same goes for Japanese, Tsubasa (Wing) will always mean Tsubasa no matter if you stress the last syllables or rise the end the same way you would if you were asking a question. (Which is why Japanese has the verbal question mark "Ka"). However Mandarin is spoken with five tones: high level, rising, dipping, falling, and neutral, therefore every sound in Mandarin has 5 different meanings, and what you say depends on how you say it. Am I making sense?
Aside from that there are six initial sounds found in Mandarin that do not occur in English or Japanese.
If you haven't grown up speaking Chinese or any other tonal language its really hard to get into the sing-song pattern that accompanies everyday speech.
I hope that was helpful. Actually I'm suprised I know that much about Chinese. Go Me! :china:
Shadow Raider II - July 22, 2004 05:37 PM (GMT)
Yeah that helped thanks :china:
