So tonight Randal and I are off to a theatre located quite a distance from our house in order to see The Dark Knight! It promises to be a great film, and I hope it won't disappoint (though I really don't see how it could.)
I figure when we both get home we'll post our thoughts on the film. Also we'll be upping some pics from the adventure... Yes I am dressing up as the Joker.

A bit of a close up on the makeup

After a little photoshoping it's my favourite pic of the night.

our theater had 2500 dorks in 15 different theaters. there were a lot of people dressed up, it was awesome. i didn't really go all out, i did on the makeup and hair and i have a purple jacket and shit but i just got my tattoo finished and my arm's still sore so i just wore a t-shirt and threw on a green stripey tie. i think somebody got a pic i'll see if i can get it.

there was a dude dressed up as scarecrow, he was smoking a cigarette through a hole in his bag. lol. and a dude who went all out as two-face, wearing a suit with half his hair slicked back, half of it all spiked up, and half his face painted up all gnarly like. i wish i had a camera i would have taken it. but alas my cellphone died and it was my only camera.

so many awesome people. a lot of people were looking at me funny, it was the shit.

also i'm seriously like bummed about heath ledger as if he were a family member. after seeing how awesome he was it's that much worse.

I agree with all above statements, but I was disappointed to find that nobody who went to the theater I attended even dressed up except for several 12 year old kids who dyed their hair green. Otherwise, the outing was a resounding success

Lol I was certainly debating it at the end. Yeah I have no idea where they're going to find someone as great as Heath to play the Joker again... Maybe Nicholson again? lol. Not many other people were dressed up at the theatre we went to. I had a girl say she loved me though. :wub: Anyone have any specualtion as to the next villain in the next film? I'm thinking Catwoman since there was that veiled reference to being safe from a cat... And after watching Begins again today I found a veiled comment about Two Face. When Wayne is celebrating his birthday anbd "drunk" he pauses before and after the line two-faced friends... :idk:

but i didnt think it was that great. I went to see it with feldman tonight and all i can remember is trying to not be grossed out by feldmans caressing and trying to picture heath legder without the makeup and me sitting on his face (dead or alive, i d c)

i think it could have been more graphic, like i wish it wasnt so family oriented and had like close ups of the face cutting or just like, you know NOT PG13 shit but like gross shit thats makes you wanna killyourself

yeah i normally look for more gore in movies with like less depth.... unless it's a tarantino film of course. this representation of the joker was the greatest thing ever to me, but then again i am pretty sick and gross so i was 1000x more attracted to heath ledger with the makeup smeared on and his face all fucked up.


also, never go to a movie with feldman.

i think a lot of people are bashing TDK for the sake of trolling. a lot of people i know are saying shitty things about it that i don't really see as warranted at all. for example, one person said it was corny. it's a fucking superhero movie, what the fuck do people expect?

most true batman fans have appreciated the movie though and if i was the director that would really be the only opinion that mattered.

I think a lot of people were complaining on the basis that it's a "superhero" movie, and it ends up being nihilistic and incredibly dark at the end, but those people aren't really considering that that was batman's whole thing all along. He's just as screwed up as the villains he's fighting, and he even ends up fighting his own corporation in the future.

i don't know man. i think a lot of people missed the point of all of the depth in the storyline in this particular movie. i haven't really heard people complain about the darkness, but about the lack of gore/killings and somewhat cheesiness. i guess people would rather see someone blow peoples heads off than become emotionally invested in any of the characters and their development. i thought harvey dent's story was the most compelling, although i did enjoy the joker's the most. i even heard someone say they disliked twoface because he didn't look gruesome enough, as if that has anything to do with anything. when you come down to it, it's not a gory horror thriller and people who were expecting such set themselves up for disappointment, especially considering it was pg-13.

i guess i just really identified with the two-face character in this for the first time. before i usually just saw him as a villain, in this it really stirred something in me. that he wasn't just a villain, or really a villain at all, just a soul turning to chaos after being fucked over while trying to believe in karma or justice.

as far as the joker, i don't think i've ever seen anything capture the true sociopathic spirit of the joker like this portrayal did, and i was so blown away by heath ledger i could hardly even believe it was him. the inflection of certain words, the way his eyes darted around, the facial expressions even under all that makeup and prosthesis... fucking amazing. you really got the idea that, in alfred's words, he just wanted to watch the world burn. the perfect foil to batman. not just a "bad guy" that batman was going to go beat up. just as in yin and yang, there is dark in good, and good in dark.

i need to go watch this again ASAP. i am gonna see if my dad got me a bootleg of it at the jockey lot and i will proceed to watch it daily.

Im with 4R's in that this is the first time I've seen two-face as not just a villain. Yeah I've known that he was good then got fucked and flips a coin but I never really saw him that way so much until now.

Seconded on the Joker being the highlight of the film. It helped that I haven't really seen heath ledger in any other movie, but I was completely convinced by his performance, as if he didn't exist as a person but only as the joker in the movie.

Ok now you guys have peaked my interest (YGGR). I really want to see this in the theater. I 'm gonna wait a week or two, when I can get in the fucking place. Since TDK opened the place is a serious fucking zoo. Even at times when it is normally slow. I can probably bet my life it's because of the batman movie.(no other good movies are out right now)

Also, I forsee this movie hanging around a while in the theaters.
