THE PUPPET
full name : Emmeline Rose Vance nicknames : Emmy, Em date of birth : March 15th, 1960 house : Gryffindor! age : Sixteen year : Sixth wand type : Unicorn tail hair, rosewood, twelve inches. blood line : Halfbloodpurebloodish? Her mother is a Muggleborn, but her dad's pureblood. pets : A black kitten with a white patch on the right side of his face named Phantom.
THE LOOKS
hair color : Dark brown eye color : Brown height&weight : 5'4", 123 pounds played by : Rachel Bilson full appearance : To define Emmeline Vance's appearance in one word is simply: cute. She does not pretend to be the most attractive thing to ever walk, because she knows she is not. She is, however, rather pretty in a girlish way.
Dressed almost to the nines, more like sixes, Emmeline Vance is always very neat. There is never a hair out of place, never a wrinkle in her blouse. If there is a problem with her appearence, then you know something is wrong. She dresses in knee-length skirts and Mary-Janes, as well as a crisp blouse and a silken Gryffindor tie, tied perfectly around her neck. As far as lesiure clothes go, Emmeline tends to still wear skirts, but she will occasionally wear jeans. She is a bit of a perfectionist, at least when it comes to her appearance.
Her face is like a doll's with round cheeks, arched eyebrows, and a rounded chin. Her eyes are very dark, almost a chocolate or perhaps an oak in color. When the light hits them, you can really appriciate the beauty of someone's eyes. The main problem with her face is the fact the her mouth region tends to look rather squashed when she smiles, which generally a majority of the time. Her eyes are very large, and her most striking feature. Emmeline is infamous for her completely mesmerizing eyes. Her nose is too big for her face and pointy. One would be correct in saying that Marlene detests her nose. Her ears are also not aligned correctly with her head, which proves to be rather annoying.
Her hair. Dark, and falling in waves on her shoulders, Emmeline's hair is nothing more than anyone else's hair, meaning it is dead cells. Never styled in the same way, Emmeline's hair is brushed at night and washed in the morning. She believes the supposed truths of brushing your hair before you sleep and wearing it down in bed makes it grow longer. Emmelinee had always wanted longer hair...
She's very short, which works against her, because the Slytherins take utter joy out of calling her Pipsqueak, Short Stuff, and Shrimp. Her parents were never very tall, so poor Emmeline had little shot of ever reaching a height of above 5'4".
THE INSIDES
likes : Boys, chocolate, peppermint, headbands, hoop earrings, nature, picturesque scenes, walking along the beach, her brothers, reading, flowers, writing songs, writing poems, painting her nails purple, red, silver. dislikes : Most Slytherins, any kind of bug, heights, rasins, yellow, sluts, whores, pigheaded males. strengths : Her determination and drive to do whatever she needs to. No matter how afraid she is of confrontation, she always stands up for what she believes in, even if she has a nervous breakdown afterward. weaknesses : She's not a whore or anything like that, she's actually a very pure girl, so her one weakness would be love. To quote a Chorus Line: I'll never forget what I did for love, what I did for love. habits/quirks : Emmy cracks her knuckles a lot. She also wears hoop earrings constantly and red headbands. Emmy also has a weird habit of never wearing anything besides her uniform. She always wears black tights, a black skirt, and Mary Janes. She doesn't expose her legs or anything like that. Not even a pair of high heels. boggart : A giant swarm of bugs, chasing her off a tower as she falls to her death. patronus : A bunny. Sweet, innocent, and runs away from its problems as opposed to facing them.
Emmeline's happiest memory had to be oddly enough, the day that her brothers taught her how to ride a bike. Her brothers are her lifelines, and she'd be totally lost without them. They're one of the few people in her life who can bring out a side of her that's a bit more outgoing. Emmy was about eight at the time, even more naive than ever (if that's possible) and was deathly afraid of riding a bicycle, no matter how much she wanted to. She would always remember what her brother Alex told her. "Wish it, dream it, do it." Then Emmy closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and rode her bicycle for the first time, a brother on either side of her. dream job : A psychiatric healer. overall personality : Bravery, loyalty, good sense, and courage are all the qualities of getting a girl into Gryffindor. A hatred for mean people and evil could give you brownie points. Emmeline Vance possesses all of these qualities, and that is why she landed herself in Gryffindor.
Never afraid to stick up for what she believes in, Emmeline Vance always speaks her mind. Her strong morals and good judgement help her from being intimidated by the Slytherins. Most of the time, however, Emmeline is very quiet and doesn't say much around strangers. She tends to be intimate with people she's known since first year. New people tend to scare her, and when she comes in contact with them, she'll blush or start to giggle or just look stupid and say nothing. A small smile may be issued.
Emmy is not easily angered. It takes a lot to get her mad, and when she gets mad, she's like a bomb: she explodes. Emmeline is very slow to anger, and even slower to forgive. Once you upset her, she's very limited and reserved toward you, and it may take a month for her to warm up to you again. However, this is rare, because Emmeline is very easygoing, and generally doesn't get mad often. Her other emotions are not as limited.
Emmeline is a bit naive, in the sense that she usually believes everything she hears. Emmeline is no gossip, but if you lie to her, she will believe it until someone she knows and trusts informs her otherwise. She's very loyal to her friends, as stated before. Marlene is also naive in the sense of romance, having no prior boyfriend. She doesn't really think about it. Emmeline believes that as long as she is herself, everything else will fall into place. Exercising this belief is the problem.
Emmy is a sweetheart. Honestly, you can't really put it any other way. She's the type of person who you can literally wake up at three o'clock in the morning and come to with a problem and she will help you with it three hundred percent, even if she has to blow a trumpet just to wake herself up. She's the kind of person who will sacrifice anything, absoloutely anything, for somebody else, because nothing would make her happier than to see somebody else happy. Emmeline is the type of person who does not care about herself, and would give anything to see a smile on somebody else's face.
Therefore, she's sweet. She's caring and kind and she just loves to be around people. Emmeline is very affectionate, she'll always greet her friends with a hug or a kiss on the cheek. She herself loves to be hugged and held and touched. Emmy is random and hyper and she's honestly just fun to be with. She'd make a great girlfriend if anybody actually bothered to look deep inside her, to maybe see that there's something going on in her. Emmy is actually very insecure inside, so she deals with this by making other people feel secure. This makes her happy, and she likes being happy. Once she's happy, she's honestly a joy and a pleasure to talk to, but if she's upset, she's very reserved and will not want to talk to anybody who she does not fully trust.
Trust with Emmeline is very complicated. See, she will trust people. She'll trust them not to tell her secrets, but when it comes to believeing what they say, she won't believe it. She probably wouldn't believe a guy if he told her he loved her, she'd probably take it as some joke. She wouldn't believe it if somebody who told her she was her best friend. She wouldn't, because Emmy has learned to see the good in everybody else except herself. However, sometimes, she sees a false good in people. Emmy appears to be a pushover this way, therefore, she gets walked all over a lot, which adds to her insecurities. It also adds to why she can't trust people, because she's been betrayed and destroyed by people who she thought loved her so many times. All in all, she's sweet, and she will be nice to you, but break her trust and you will come to regret it, because you will never get it back ever again.
THE BEGINNING
ethnicity : British, little bit of Welsh/Scottish hometown : Liverpool mother and father : Maria Vance, Jefferson Vance brothers and sisters : Alexander Vance, Jefferson Vance, Jr. (twins!) other relatives : Two aunts, (Amy and Jennifer), three uncles, (Erik, Laurent, and Jackson), and four cousins, (Lucy, Mina, Delilah and Christie.) overall history : The Vances, a little-known pureblood family, have deep roots in England, some parts of Scotland, and a scattering of distant relations in Wales.
Emmeline was born on the Ides of March, but her mother was in labor all through Pi Day, therefore signifying a cautious yet brilliant child. And that's what she got. A cautious yet smart child. As she grew up, Emmeline was never one to run into the mud and play around in it. She thought it was icky, so she steered clear of it. The outdoors were unknown to her, she spent a lot of her time inside, either being read to or reading. Even at night, when her mother would read her a bedtime story, she would be up until nearly nine, listening to stories, wide eyed and innocent. She grew up with older twin brothers, Alexander and Jeffrey, who tortured her beyond belief. She loves them, though. The birth went well, and the youngest Vance went home with her parents a few days later. She did everything normal babies do, had her vaccines, got tortured by her two older brothers, and had her share of scrapes and scars.
As a child, she endured more taunts from her brothers Jeffrey and Alexander, and showed signs of magic at a rather late age. She got her Hogwarts letter at age 11, just like everyone else, and was on the train with her older brothers that September.
Emmeline Vance was beyond excited to attend Hogwarts, because she always had this form of paranoia that she wouldn't be magic enough to get into Hogwarts. To her delight, she was, and proved to be a very good witch and very exceptional. Throughout her years, she'd made enemies with the Slytherins, and endured six years of wonder and magic. She strived to get good grades, chasing the childhood dream of becoming a healer once she was of legal wizarding age.
THE PUPETEER
your name : Star! contact : PM, AIM- apollosxxlyrexx other? : Nope! roleplay example : She flipped on a switch, and then everything was fine. No more words, no more sights, no more useage for her dream ears and eyes. Everything was okay. For the first time, since she was a little girl, Emmeline Vance had been caught up in a nightmare. It ws scary. She had been in a lovely field, with honeysuckles and lillies of the valley. Turns out, it was the Hogwarts Lake. Oh, it was simply a beautiful day. There wasn't any other way to describe it. The black lake was shimmering, glittering in the sun like an ebony diamond. The occasional ripple was caused by the actions of the Giant Squid, and whatever else stirred in the dark waters. The trees, out of summer, were turning crisp and fragile and the colors of the earth. It was a colorful, picturesque scene. Then all of a sudden, it got dark. Thunderclouds rolled in over her beautiful blue sky and a grey wind pushed the blue wind out.
She heard a high, cold, laugh and there was Voldemort, his eyes red slits and his snake-nostrils flaring, as hooded figures came up behind her. The grass sunk into the ground and it became barren and the ground cracked. The flowers wilted and died, crumbling into piles of deceased matter on the dry, dry earth. The lake dried up before her very eyes, as it turned into a huge basin. All the creatures were dead, and only their skeletons remained in the lake. Emmeline tried to scream but no sound came out of her mouth. Voldemort raised a hand and out of the ground rose tombstones, all of her friends and family, and she was struck behind the head, and she woke up as she hit the ground.
It's okay. It was all going to be okay. It was just light out, everything was turning out okay, it could have been worse, she could have woken up in the dark. "It was just a dream." She breathed. "All a dream. That's it." Emmy shuddered, getting out of her bed and getting dressed. Today would most definately be a good day to go into Flourish and Blott's to get a book and just lose herself for a day. Knowing Emmeline, she'd probably obsess over the stupid dream unless her mind was occupied elsewhere.
She dressed in her favorite outfit for the Muggle Underground to get into London, keeping her Wizarding Robes in her purse. (She had charmed it so that it was bigger on the inside.) Those robes were a simple black, while the collar and sleeves were lined in silver. She walked through the Leaky Cauldron, which was pretty much empty, and she sighed, wandering into Flourish and Blott's.
The managers knew her on a first-name basis, and greeted her as she walked in. Emmeline dove into a corner and began reading. She wasn't paying attention to anything, really, so her eyes wandered to a book on dream interpretations.
Well, it couldn't hurt....
