Sirius Black - September 23, 2007 01:04 AM (GMT)

Sirius' day had been a tough one. Dodging in and out of the common room, trying to avoid the bloodthirsty shroud of fanthings that follow his every move. His classes were mediocre today, the only interesting class today was Transfiguration where they had discussed animagi in depth. James, Peter and he had been excellingly good at the topic and the other students began asking if they were interested in becoming animagi once older. Smirking they all replied the same thing, "You could say that." He had also brought a new girl to his room, whom was scared away by the marks on his bedpost -- the number of girls whom had sat on his bed.

After the day of exhaustion, Sirius needed a place to relax, record his feelings in his journal. He couldn't do it in his room, James was probably lurking around somewhere with his invisibility cloak and would sneak in a read the entry without Sirius knowing. It seemed that the only place he could relax was the owlery. And only occasionally too, because James could always find him using the Marauders Map.

As Sirius walked up the stairs, his shoes clacked on the stone below him. His cloaks billowed behind him like the wings of a large bat, flapping in the wind. Rounding the corner to the owelry, he looked over the ledge and spotted a small black speck in the distance, flying unsteadily towards him. He continued the rest of the way up quickly and stood next to the window. As the animal came into view, it was a raven, black as coal. It cawed into Sirius' ear as it landed on his shoulder. Dropping a small piece of parchment in Sirius' hand, it flew to the place where all of the other owls were residing. Opening the note, Sirius read it carefully.

Dear Sirius,
You are not welcomed home for Christmas the holidays.
-Mum and Dad

Filled with a burning temper, Sirius angrily set the note on the ledge in from of him and set it on fire with his wand. Turning on it, he beckoned his raven to follow as he went and sat on the cold, stone floor.

Ariana Goldstein - September 23, 2007 06:13 PM (GMT)
today was one of those calm days, ariana noticed, where both she and the rest of her world seemed to be in sync with each other and at peace. being who she was, ria was followed by enthusiasm, surprises, excitement and noise, but today, she felt like water rather then fire. today, she had said little and done more, she had been quiet and had focused harder. the fire of her soul that lit the eyes of everyone around her had dimmed today, not in sadness, but in the sense of rest. after a long time of constant flamboyancy, anna felt beautiful in a different sense today - calm, collected and loving. she had been gentle, she had been soft and she had shown more care towards her friends then she had in a long time. it was just one of those days in which you realized you were alive and without a doubt, blessed.

she had begun her twenty four hours in the start of morning. her hair, somehow, had managed to behave itself over night and that had set off the joy she would eventually feel throughout the entire day. she showered, dressed and was ready almost in perfect time for breakfast and let's face it, that was a huge feat since she's got more tardies on her record then she's had kisses on her lips and punches through her fists. even during breakfast, she had made it in time to have warm food and had finished in time as well before her first class of the day started. somehow, she survived through her classes without feeling bored or at all disinterested. charms had been lovely and fairly easy for someone who was particularly talented in it, transfiguration was hilarious thanks to marauders, history of magic was for once interested as it included vampires and werewolves and her last few classes she barely remembered because she had lost herself in her doodles which were by far her best works of art done only by quill and ink.

the rest of the day had been fairly normal. she had skipped last period muggle studies to venture out to the lake shore. with no one to disturb her, she had taken her paint and though it had taken at least three hours, she had finished a beautiful picture of the lake during midday. she had even managed to call the powers of her imagination and throw a mermaid into her painting. of course, her mermaid was much prettier then the ones that actually lived down in the black lake, but it was a mermaid nonetheless. it was painting she would have loved to keep in her room, but it was also something she knew someone else would do better with. duplicating the original to make two copies for her brother and father, ariana had sketched her mother's name into both and prepared to take them up to the owlery. her owl deserved a few treats and a visit from her anyway.

ariana was slow to climb the stairs, taking her precious sweet time. having changed out of robes, she was dressed in a sweater and pants considering the owlery, in all it's height, got painfully chilly because of all the wind. having made no stop to her common room, she carried her paints in one hand and her pictures on the other; face, hands and clothes speckled all over in blues, yellows and reds. it was cute in a sense, but ariana had yet to even notice it, she was too excited about sending her paintings. she had tied them all and everything, all she had to do was find charlie walls. stumbling into the owlery after tripping on the last step, she just barely saved herself by throwing her left food forward and regaining balance. if she had fallen however, ariana noticed that it would have been on what looked like a pile of ashes of what she hoped wasn't a bird.

looking up in question, she immediately caught the shapes two black lumps, one small and the other ten times it's size, but identifiable either way. "sirius?" she mumbled, blinking as she set her paints down on the ledge beside the ashes and moved towards him, "what're you doing here so late? it's almost dinner time, you know. you'll miss it!" he ate twice as much as she did, certainly he wouldn't skip dinner. but at the same time, upon approaching him, ariana noted immediately that he didn't look all that happy. in fact, he looked angry and if she was correct, almost sad. she felt nearly guilty for disturbing him, but she couldn't just let him sit there. it's a crime to leave a friend in such a state, it's against the laws of humanity. he was just lucky she was feeling peaceful today, maybe she wouldn't be so much of a nuissance. sitting down beside him, she pulled up her knees and leaned her elbows on them keeping a slight distance in case not to offend him. when she spoke, she kept her voice light and soft, filled with concern, "what's wrong, sirius? you okay?"
