Last week i purchased a beautiful cavalier king charles spaniel puppy from a breeder. The puppy is superb and a great assett to our family unit. But i was a little dismayed that the breeder that i bought her from did not ask more questions about where the puppy was going to. I s this normal for breeders i have no idea i have always got my animals from rescue homes before

I don't think that breeders do homecheaks but it doesn't seam right them not asking about were he is going ect.

i qyite agree with you 'cocker spanial lover' for all the woman who sold me my puppy knows it could be living on the 15th floor of a tower block

obviously an irrisponsible breeder and if is only interested in the money but not the dog, then should be reported to the rspca (well, at least from my point of view)
thank you

most Breeders are truly concerned about the welfare of the puppies they sell and are always willing to offer any advice concerning after care or special needs for thier breed
In fact most breeders will interegate your for suitability as an owner , just as much as you scrutinise the worthiness of the puppy you plan to buy
it is not practical for breeders to do home visits although it is sometimes possible when delivering a puppy, that has been seen and booked at an earlier time.
did the breeder ask any questions regarding your life style and intentions for the puppy,
did you get any advice on feeding, new puppy at home ect,
do you feel that you sould have been interigated more, so that you were sure you are worthy of you puppy!!!
i am sure you are

Deputy Dog,
Thanks for your comments, the breeder did give me a bag of uppy food and told me what it was so that i could purchase more of the same. She did not ask what other animals i had or how many children i had, she didn't even ask if i lived in a house or had a garden.

Fortunately for my puppy (who is wonderful) we have a happy loving home with a large garden and she has lots of fun not only with my children but also with my other dog who was missing his old friend that died due to old age.

lucky you bought the pup and not some one who's lives may not be as stable has your family life sounds to be. how old was your other dog when he/she died
it is always sad when we lose them i still miss my lost friends very much :(

hello jacky

how far were the breeders from your house?? if they were far then maybe it was too far to travel just for a home check,

thank you

also, when should the allpets chat time begin or maybe there should be two chats

Dear Admin the breeders werre about and hours drive from my house, i didn;t expect a home check i just thought that had it been me i would have asked more questions. With regards to the chat times, may be 2 chat times would be a good idea, one in the afternoon and one about 8ish in the evening for people at work (like me ssshhhhh)

Deputy Dawg, my dog that had to be out down was 13 years old, he was the best dog in the whole wide world and also my best friend, we got him from battersea when he was 6 months old and he totally distroyed my house but one look into his big brown eyes and i could forgive him anything.
