Title: Burning the midnight oil... (OPEN!)
Othala - February 18, 2008 06:26 PM (GMT)
Lynne sighed and rubbed her eyes. Her watch said it was nearly ten past one in the morning and having been up since half four that morning, Lynne was in dire need of sleep.
However, all she did have was four cans of red bull and the entire occult/supernatural section of the library. She was detemined to find a way to get rid of Davey that didn't involve Jase killing himself. Too many people had been hurt and she wasn't about to let Davey have another. Rubbing her eyes once more she stared at the page:
Ghosts are often associated with hauntings, which is, according to the Parapsychological Association, "the more or less regular occurrence of paranormal phenomena associated with a particular locality (especially a building) and usually attributed to the activities of a discarnate entity; the phenomena may include apparitions, poltergeist disturbances, cold drafts, sounds of footsteps and voices, and various odours."
"What the..." God, she was way too tired to dealk with this. Every book she read had a different definition of what a ghost was, meaning a hundrd different ways o get rid of them some of which were impossoble. So far, Lynne's favorite idea was sacrificing a chinken in a stange voodoo ceremony but she wasn't sure a frozen one from the supermarket would cut it. She continued to read, her eyes growing heavier. Lynne opened the last can of energy drink and downed it in one as she turned the page:
Exorcism (from Late Latin exorcismus, from Greek exorkizein - to adjure) is the practice of evicting demons or other evil spiritual entities from a person or place which they are believed to have possessed (taken control of). The practice is quite ancient and part of the belief system of many religions.
The person performing the exorcism, known as an exorcist, is often a member of the clergy, or an individual thought to be graced with special powers or skills. The exorcist may use prayers, and religious material, such as set formulas, gestures, symbols, icons, amulets, etc.. The exorcist invokes God, Jesus and/or several different angels and archangels to intervene with the exorcism.
In general, possessed persons are not regarded as evil in themselves, nor wholly responsible for their actions. Therefore practitioners regard exorcism more as a cure than as a punishment. The mainstream rituals usually take this into account, making sure that there is no violence to the possessed, only that they be tied down if there is potential for violence
Lynne yawned and as she went to turn the page again there came the sound of footsteps...

Jessica walked curiously between the bookshelves, admiring the huge amount of strange and antique-looking books in them. She was new in Trenton, and since the moment she first stepped inside the school she had been fascinated by it.
Her intense green eyes didn't miss a detail, as she ran a finger along the book spines. She seemed to be drawing a mental map, as she read some of the titles: Hauntings and how to deal with them, What Lies Behind the Shadows, Field Diary of the Ghost Hunter, Exorcism and its Dangers, Poltergeists and Other Annoying Domestic Creatures...
Jessica had never seen a library like that before, and wondered if all those strange books were worth reading, or just a handful of lies to pass the time. Of course, how could a newcomer like her know...?
Suddenly, Jessica heard a faint squeak, but she knew perfectly where it had come from. She stroked her pet softly, a tiny squirrel that was perched on her shoulder.
She walked more silently now that her little friend had warned her of another presence in the room.
Jessica turned a corner and found herself facing a table so full with towers of books, that it was impossible for her to know if there was actually someone sitting there.
She approached with curiosity when she heard a soft yawn and the sound of turning pages.

(Ooc: do you mined if i join u 2?)
Dexter had just finished the second book of a trilogy, the trilogy was called Death of an Banshee, he had read the first book. The facts were mined blowing, all about the after life and the life in between. The second was really strong a good three hundred pages it had taken a while to get through, but the contents was gripping, all about a spirit trapped between worlds.
The author had left a brilliant cliff hanger at the end of this book, the main character a boy of fifteen who could see the spirit was going to kill himself to help the spirit fined its way into the light. However the boy dose not know that the spirit is actually his older brother who had died saving him.
Dexter could simply not wait until morning to fined out what would happen next so he decided to go and get the third book.
As he entered the library and looked for the spot where he had got the book from.
He admired the Trenton library so many books and all strange ones at that. As he approached where the the third book was he thought he hers foot steps. He quickly dashed to where the book was put the one he had all ready read away and garbed the book he wanted.
Then dashed he was just turning a corner when he her the steps again. He was running fast and silent, there was no way of getting out of this he had come from a dead end, he almost ran straight into a girl but was able to stop just in time. His natural reaction was to go into fighting stance, but he soon realized there was no threat.
"Wow, that was close,...sorry I mus have scared the hell out of you" he said with a breath of relief, embarrassment, and curiosity. It seemed he was not the only one scouting the library at the dead of night.
Othala - June 5, 2008 06:53 PM (GMT)
Lynne looked up and saw Dexter, the boy she recognised from their escapade in the dungeon.
"Hi" she smiled "Fancy seeing you here"
Matt - June 5, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
Dexter smiled back "Coincidence, perhaps?" he added with irony. "so what brings you out on another midnight walk?"
Dexter was glad to see friend, although after the dungeons, maybe this was not the best person to be meeting. Dexter was not a grate believer in coincidences.

Jessica glanced quickly from the boy that had almost run into her to the girl that had been reading, looking puzzled. They seemed to know each other already. She was obviously not used to be a newbie.
She hesitated for less than a second, then said: ''Hi...Isn't it great to enjoy a chat in the dead of night? By the way, I'm Jessica Turner.'' ''Just arrived.'', she added, with a slight move of her hand, as she always did when she said omething that was clearly obvious.
She had adressed them with a cute smile that showed self confidence, altough the truth was, she felt a bit out of place, not knowing anyone.
Matt - June 10, 2008 03:57 PM (GMT)
Dexter turned as another unfamiliar person greeted him. It seemed the library was a more popular place than he had expected, especially in the dead of night. The new comer, Jessica as she had introduced her self as, seemed a confident person, unlike himself who only seemed to meet people in strange places at strange times.
"Hi, Dexter." he said polity introducing himself and offering his hand.
sakura - June 10, 2008 06:46 PM (GMT)
''Nice to meet you, Dexter.'', said Jessica, shaking the boy's hand. He was slightly older than her and had amazing, dark green eyes, that caught her attention for a second.
''Er...is it a common thing in this school to walk around in the middle of the night? I think it's cool...'' she grinned, and her eyes sparkled. ''And did you say there is a dungeon!? No kidding?''
Jessica suddenly realized the other girl hadn't said aything.
''What's your name?'', she asked, perhaps a bit suddenly, but politely.
Othala - June 11, 2008 11:42 AM (GMT)
"Lynne Mitchells" Lynne put her books back on the table to shake Jessica's hand "And yeah it's pretty normal to go for midnight wanderngs here...at least it is for me!" she grinned.
In answer to Dexter's question she showed him her books. She felt that she could trust him and recently, her instinct was the only thing she could count on.
"Exorcism books and ones that are just generally about ghosts"
Matt - June 12, 2008 04:09 PM (GMT)
Dexter nodded to Lynne as he saw the books about exorcism and ghosts. It was clear that people really did take this Davy thing seriously, then again he didn't have a problem with the infamous ghost yet.
"So how about we fined a nice place to sit and we can tell you about the place." said Dexter with the feeling of wanting to move around.
sakura - June 12, 2008 07:59 PM (GMT)
<<Exorcism? Ghosts?>>, thought Jessica incredulously.
She stared at the books with curiosity. ''Nice to meet you too, Lynne...'', Jessica said with a smile. Lynne seemed pretty nice to her.
She looked at Dexter. ''Oh, OK, that would be nice.''
She hesitated for a second, then asked:''You coming Lynne?''
Matt - June 21, 2008 10:07 AM (GMT)
Dexter faced Lynna, "Yes, do come with us" he said with longing, he was interested in knowing more about her, and her books.
Dexter also wanted some fresh air, the library was a bit stuffy and smelt of old books. He was also interested in getting to know Jessica, she seemed like an interesting and out going person, rather unlike himself who preferred to do things by him self when possible. However when in a situation like this, he would take the chance to be sociable.
Othala - July 7, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
Lynne hesitated.
"Sure, why not, I could use a break" she replied and stuffed her things under a shelf so no one would take them before hurrying to join the others.
sakura - July 11, 2008 08:12 AM (GMT)
Jessica smiled, pleased that Lynne would join them and also that she would at last learn something new about Trenton. She gazed curiously at Lynne's books until they went out of sight under the shelf.
''Ok, you can lead the way. I wouldn't know where to find anything here. This is so big...'', she said adressing both Lynne and Dexter, her intense green eyes going from one to the other. ''By the way have you two been in Trenton for a long time?''
Matt - July 11, 2008 09:00 AM (GMT)
Dexter walked with a relaxed pace. He was glad Lynna had decided to join them. "I've been here about a month." he replied to Jessica's question.
Dexter knew his way round Trenton know, it hadn't taken him long to make a mental map of the place. He was shore that thee were things and places he did not know about and that only by spending more time at the school would he discover them.
As he exited the library he enhanced his scenes listening down the corridor, watching the shadows. He had become cautious of the school at night.
He waited one second longer then relaxed once more and continued leading the way outside.
Othala - July 14, 2008 09:19 PM (GMT)
"It's been a couple of years for me" smiled Lynne "God, that makes me feel old. Itr seems like just yesterday I was a newbie" she grinned broadly
"So what do you guys want to see?"
sakura - July 23, 2008 06:26 PM (GMT)
''Gee, I don't know...'' Jessica seemed to ponder the question as she stroked the soft fur of the tiny squirrel perched on her shoulder. But it wasn't long before a spark of child-like mischief glittered in her eyes.
<<How about a forbidden or scary place?>>, she thought. But there was no need to say it aloud, because her eyes held her answer, clear and plain in her gaze. ''Surprise me!'', she said shrugging, but with a tempting smile.
Matt - July 25, 2008 06:46 PM (GMT)
Dexter was not in the mood for another adventure and he could feel that it woul end up happening if he wasn't careful. He already knew Lynne was adventerus from his dungeon experience and judjing by the shine in Jessicas eyes she was too.
"I dont mined, so long as it is safe." He utterd the words cerfuly so that Lynne would know what they ment, not the dungeons. Her stil didn't sleep well because of that. Inside him Dexter reealy wanted to talk about the whole buisness, but he was cautious too he had not said much about it or talked to Lynne since then. It was not the right time now ether with Jessica around.
Othala - July 28, 2008 09:05 AM (GMT)
Lynne had tensed at the suggestion. She hadn't quite gotten over her experience in the dungeon yet and she had no wish for a follow up.
"There are some interesting places further up" she suggested, knowing there was little chance of any misfortune befalling them up there.
sakura - July 28, 2008 09:36 AM (GMT)
If Jessica was dissappointed she didn't show it.
She had realized at once that Dexter didn't really feel like going to look for an adventure in the dark corridors of the scholl at night, and she wondered if he'd had a bad experience doing that recently, but didn't ask. She felt he wouldn't talk about it while she was there. Perhaps Lynne knew about it too...?
''All right, up we go then...'', and saying this she followed Lynne and Dexter through the bookshelves.
Matt - July 30, 2008 12:43 PM (GMT)
Dexter didn't want an awquared silence so he cautiously thought of an easy conversation that wouln' dig up any thing painful. "So Jessica tell us a bit about your self, where you from?
He would rather focus on Jessica than himself and it seemed sutible. As the walked Dexter piked up a strange scent. There was an aroma of burning in the air. It was the smell of burnt paper, it was intimidating especialy for him.
Unwillingly but to be shour he asked. "Do you two smell any thing?" He hoped that his nose was playing up but he doubted it, the smell of smoke was in the air.
