Vanessa is physic. Her ability started showing when she was three with little glimpses of the future. Like words people were going to say or a picture of someone in her mind. Now after training she can sometimes see the future more clearly but not always. It’s very random, some days just a flash of a picture or a very vivid dream. Vanessa doesn’t always know what they mean and she doesn’t really want to. Recently, Vanessa has discovered that by touching people or their possessions it’s easier to get a vision related to them.

SHINING OH SO BRIGHTLY

Personality Traits:

- Independent
- Doesn’t trust people right away
- Sweet
- Insightful
- Clever

General Personality:

Being able to see glimpses into the future can affect a person emotionally. Ever since her parents died, Vanessa has restrained from revealing too much. The future is a powerfully thing, who knows how people will react to knowing their future. Or even what they would do to find out. She believes it’s better for people to find out in there own time. This is why she prefers to spend time alone. It’s safer that way.

Vanessa isn’t the most sociable person but she isn’t shy either. It’s more like she chooses to be silent and speaks up when she feels like it. Making friends can be harder this way but Vanessa prefers a small group of friends anyway. When it comes to talking to someone one on one though, she enjoys getting to know someone on that personal level. Without all the distractions it’s easier to truly know a person.

Being independent is important to Vanessa. It’s something about seeing stuff in her head all the time, about other people, herself, or events that seem really loud. It’s nice just to take a break and look at nature, specially sunsets or sunrises. It’s rare that Vanessa doesn’t see one every couple of days. It’s a powerfully feeling to look at the same thing people thousands of years ago watched and that it well remain the same forever. It’s a constant in Vanessa’s life that feels real.

Vanessa sees herself as very mature for her age. She had to grow up fairly quickly to leave her home at age eight and make decisions for herself. It’s almost like she was cheated out of her childhood but Vanessa would never blame her mother for that. It wasn’t her fault, it was just the way the future decided it. Despite being independent Vanessa is actually pretty sweet. She enjoys helping people and listening to them.

It’s rather hard though, for Vanessa to relate to people. She sees stuff that over people don’t and most of the time they don’t understand. For instance, she tends to zone out periodically. Not every few minutes but at least once a day. It’s when Vanessa gets a vision that she tends to dwell on it. Thinking what it means or if it relates to her herself or someone she knows. Vanessa says she doesn’t care about her visions but its hard not to. They are right there in front of her and she can’t help and think about them. It has gotten easier over the years though. But it is the being in her own little world, which tends to throw people off. She’s easily misread as being a snob for not listening or antisocial for not paying attention.

Likes:

- Taking a walk
- Italian food
- Summer weather
- Beaches
- Nature
- Water falls
- Being alone
- Museums
- The smell of Hawaiian ginger
- Eating baked goods
- Making Christmas cookies
- Watching sunrises or sunsets

- Talking one on one

Dislikes:

- Guns
- Violence
- Gossip
- People who smoke
- Being taken advantage of
- Cleaning up after people
- Picking fights

Habits:

Walking - Vanessa enjoys being alone and is known to take walks. She feels it’s refreshing to explore nature and just breathe fresh air for awhile.

Postcards – When traveling, Vanessa has been to some amazing places. She likes to find a postcard that represents her stay there and write memories on the back.

Fortune telling – This may sound bad but Vanessa enjoys coming up with outrageous funny fortunes for people. Normally when people find out she can see the future, they ask her to read their fortune. Of course she doesn’t believe in telling people about their real future, but simply saying “adventure is coming your way in form of a large man with a poodle.” is much more fun. People may look at her strangely but she enjoys it.

Pet Peeves:
- People who make messes and don’t clean them up.
- People who drum their fingers on a table.
- Not taking responsibility for your actions.

FLITTING JUST LIKE FIREFLIES

Height & Weight: 5”6 and 120 Ibs
Piercings/Tattoos:
Just one piercing on each ear. She doesn’t have many precious processions but wears her mothers sapphire earrings. She toke them after the police dropped of her mother’s belongs they found on her body. Vanessa never takes off her mother’s sapphire earrings. They are just a stud with a single jewel but are very precious to her. It’s the only procession Vanessa has from her mother. They were her mother’s favorite stone and color. In away they also represent that her mother is till with her, watching. Vanessa hopes her mother is proud of her but still feels guilty that she couldn’t have saved her mother.

Appearance:

Hair Color and Style: Her hair is a dark shade of brown, closer to an almost black than a light brown color. Its length reaches well beyond her shoulders and has layers to give a full hair look. Vanessa has bangs that are cut just above her hazel eyes. Mostly she goes for a naturally look of hair falling around her shoulders. But sometimes she gets creative putting her hair in braids, curling them, or parting her bangs to the side. Though most of the time, Vanessa is a simple girl with simple hair.

Eye Color: A light brown hazel color.

Skin-tone: A pale white color. Vanessa doesn’t tan very easy leaving her skin the same paleness all year around. She does have freckles though that multiple during the summer months.

Build: Vanessa stands at an average height 5”6. She isn’t considered tall by any means but isn’t classified as short either. Despite not working out, her build is slim. Vanessa is in no way athletic but enjoys walking. The small physical activity and good hereditary keeps her slim.

Clothing Style: Vanessa doesn’t try too hard in dressing for she has no one to impress but enjoys dressing well. She doesn’t really have a style but doesn’t want to look like she threw on whatever she could find. Someone’s first impression of you is important and looking nice shows a lot about your character. Vanessa isn’t the type to care what people think or how she dresses but instead wants to generate an impression of who Vanessa is by what she wears.

Modest is something else Vanessa likes to practice in her clothes. Of course she’s not going to go around in baggy pants and sweaters but would prefer not to wear something trashy. Wearing something more elegant or classy preferable. One doesn’t need to be classy by wearing expensive clothing but Vanessa likes to look nicely put together.

On an average day Vanessa dresses in anything from jeans, skirts, to boots. Color doesn’t really matter. Blouses can be dark, earthly, or bright shades but they should be complementary to the rest of her outfit.

SHOWING THE WAY TO HEAVEN

Family Members:
Emma Blackwood (Mother, age 32 when she died, many odd jobs)
Randy Blackwood (Father, age 35 when he died, salesmen).
Pet(s): None
Financial Status: She’s an orphan, her parents didn’t leave Vanessa much. Poor

History:
On May 13th, 1991 the Blackwood’s gave birth to a beautiful little girl. The event wasn’t equally exciting for both parents but Vanessa’s mother, Emma, was thrilled to have a baby. The Blackwood’s weren’t in the best financial state but they got by in a good sized downtown apartment. Before Vanessa was born, Emma and Randy’s marriage was going fairly smooth for a married couple. It was Randy though that didn’t care for having a baby around. He tolerated Vanessa but shared his discomfort of the child’s screaming and late night feedings. Emma was the complete opposite, if someone had to describe the perfect mother, they would be talking about her. As if filling in for an absent father role, she spoiled Vanessa the best she could.

As Vanessa grew older, the Blackwood’s financial state grew worse. Randy had been fired from several jobs that year for lack of motivation and bad work ethics. Also he’s increasing dislike of his daughter grew worse. Vanessa was three now and completely walking and taking. This phase of unemployment intrigued a plan to get away. Without talking with Emma, he toke a job as a traveling salesmen. Basically Randy left for weeks at a time and sent money every month for Emma. Now and then he would return home for a two week break. But as the years went on he would stay away longer and was less satisfied with his old home life.

Emma was furious in the beginning but realized no matter how much she begged he wouldn’t change his mind. Emma knew she was losing her husband and there was nothing she could do about it. He was staying out longing on the job and coming home less. The money he sent every month was enough for Emma to stay. She knew she couldn’t support herself and Vanessa on her own. Plus it wasn’t like Randy was hurting them, he just wasn’t around.

In her father absence Vanessa started to develop a strange ability. Emma first noticed this on more than one occasion, when Vanessa could predict when something was going to happen. It started with small things like knowing what people were going to say next on TV or that the neighbor was going to call. Then Vanessa started telling her mother about the weather and facts about people. Vanessa was too young to understand why or even care what she was saying, but Emma knew. Her daughter could predict the future and she couldn’t be prouder. Emma also didn’t want her daughter to be taken advantage of. Vanessa’s Mother explained that she was very special and she had to careful of what she said around people. Not everyone would understand her talent and some people could hurt her because of it.

Time went on and Emma encouraged Vanessa with her ability. Asking her what she saw and questioning when Vanessa interpreted something. Trouble started though on the rare occasion Randy was home. Vanessa would proudly beam with joy at her father telling him she could tell the future. Mom said she couldn’t tell anyone but he was her father. He was supposed to be proud. To Vanessa’s dismay that didn’t happen, he would shrug her off and continue on his way. It was after a few times of hearing Vanessa’s news that he got annoyed. He would look her square in the eyes and tell her shut up with her nonsense. Vanessa got upset the first time and cried to Emma. As she comforted her daughter, Randy put together the pieces of the puzzle. He knew Emma was encouraging their daughter and asked why she was putting stupid dreams in the kid’s head.

Emma was now furious and demanded how dare he question their daughter’s dreams, when he isn’t even around. This provoked a fight with an exchange of hurtful words. Randy then left the apartment and didn’t come back. Emma and Vanessa didn’t see Randy again for months. And to be truthfully Emma was glad, she got a better job and didn’t feel like she needed Randy.

It was then months later that something devastating happened and Vanessa didn’t see it coming. Emma received a call from Randy saying he was coming for the weekend. She didn’t like the idea but agreed to at least talk to him. The night before Randy came home, Emma was at a quick mart to buy milk, when the store was robbed. The cashier tried to pull a gun out from behind the counter but the robber shot him before he could. Emma then tried to reach for the cashier’s gun but was shot. And that was the day, Vanessa didn’t know why her neighbor was picking her up from school.

Everyone was surprised that Randy decided to stay with Vanessa. He was her father but his nature was to leave. And everyone knew he hated Vanessa most of all being herself. As the first month passed Randy hardly spoke to his daughter. He was obviously grieving but he offered no support to Vanessa. No words were spoken as he drove her to school, made dinner, or turned off her bedroom light. That whole month Vanessa was terrified of her father. Never before in her life had she heard a kind word from him. And she missed her mother very much, she was the one that hugged and told her everything was going to be okay. Now all she had was a tall stranger who never spoke to her.

Vanessa thought the first month was bad the second was even worse. After getting over the initial shock Randy started lashing out at Vanessa. If she was physic why hadn’t she seen her mother’s death? If Vanessa really could see the future, she could have saved Emma. All these words were painfully pushed upon Vanessa. Each time she refused to say anything back fearing what would happen. Nearing the end of the month Randy was pushed over the edge. He cried as he asked her the same questions again and said it was all Vanessa’s fault for Emma’s death. She had seen Emma’s death but had been too scared to tell anyone and now their wife and mother was gone. Vanessa burst into tears and exclaimed she hadn’t seen it coming.

It was first time Vanessa saw real emotion in her father’s eyes besides anger, annoyance, and sadness. He looked calm and peaceful as he lifted the gun from his pocket and pointed it at his head. Did you see this coming? These were his last words to her before he shot him self. Vanessa felt guilty and ashamed that this happened because of her. She hid in the basement and cried till the neighbors found her three days later.

Without a mother or a father a home was going to be found for Vanessa. Everyone was making decisions for her future but Vanessa couldn’t stand it. Couldn’t they see her family was gone and it was her fault! What good was her power if it only hurt people? For the first time Vanessa toke control of her future before her power could, she ran away. It didn’t take long for the police to find the eight year old. She barely made it down the street. The next few years Vanessa went from distant relatives to foster families before coming to Aura Academy.

Passing through the crowds, Hailey watched in amazement at the bright lights, noisy crowds, and the smell of cheap carnival food. She had just arrived and was already feeling anxious like a kid. In every direction were games, rides, prizes, and food. The very site of it all made Hailey want to do everything at once. The last time she had attended a carnival, was probably at age twelve. Previously, the pre-teen had always gone with her parents but was finally old enough to go with friends. Looking back, Hailey remembered how much fun she had had that day. Her self and two friends ran crazy through the grounds winning tons of prizes, riding every single ride, and eating far too much cotton candy. Why hadn’t she ever gone to a carnival since? Hailey wondered, surely after such an awesome experience she would have gone back. It was probably life getting in the way; Hailey was always consumed with work it seemed.

The only difference from her last visit was that Hailey was alone and of course she wasn’t twelve. She still wanted to have fun though and see everything in site. While, walking down the grassy sections, smells of flashy lights and hot food triggered old memories. Thinking back to her childhood, attending the carnival was most fun she had ever had. It was kind of sad but Hailey didn’t care. Work, stress, and parents were starting to build up. And the only way Hailey could think of to let loose was the carnival. Plus capturing pictures from her favorite childhood memory was a bonus.

Ever since Hailey could remember she was interested in art and photography. It was more of a hobby for years but know it was more of a becoming a reality hopefully. Last week, one of her pictures had won an internet contest, and Hailey was beaming with joy. Less could be said about her parents though. They never really toke into account how happy their daughter felt while taking pictures. Plus she really good at it! After the contest Hailey was even offered a job and the guy wanted samples. Attending the carnival was the perfect opportunity to get the shots she needed and have fun too.

Sneaking slowly through the crowds, the wind blew her brown skirt lazily around her legs. Lifting her head Hailey browsed her options; stalls were to the right, fast rides up ahead and food to the left. Deciding to start off her carnival adventure with cotton candy, Hailey twisted her body to the left. Headed that way she noticed the line wasn’t long. Taking her place behind someone, Hailey crossed her arms over her turquoise sweater.

As the line progressed, Hailey watched the people around her. No matter what she did, Hailey always found herself analyzing a scene for a good photo. A smile played on her lips as she spotted a man holding a cotton candy and his son as they the shared the sticky treat. Pulling her camera out of the black bag slung over her shoulders, Hailey leaned down for the shot. Soon a click and a flash of light could be seen as the picture was taken. Brushing back blonde hair behind her ear, Hailey reviewed the picture.

[NOTE: The PB Emily Browning is already taken according to the face claim. But I couldn't find a registered user with the name of Avery Taylor. Then I found her old application in the denied sections. Is it alright for me to play Emily Browning?]
