SHINING OH SO BRIGHTLY

Personality Traits:
  • Egotistical
  • Mischievous
  • Honest
  • Proctective
  • Flirty
General Personality: Too describe Zane completely would be utterly impossible. He has many different sides and angles but I’ll do my best.

The Ego;;
It’s always better to start with the most noticeable traits first and it’s quite hard to miss Zane big head. Conceited is a bit understatement when it comes to this particular Irish boy. He’s good looking to say the least and he’s pretty skilled when it comes to athletics even though he refuses to play school sports. Now I’m not saying he’s the type of guy that stares at himself in the mirror all day, that’s just creepy. He’s the type of guy that tends to relate almost anything and everything back to himself in some sort of bragging fashion. He doesn’t have to constantly stare at himself or primp himself to know he looks good but he sure does have a habit of letting everyone else know. I’m sure you’re thinking, why would anyone want to hang around with someone who talks about himself as much as he does, right? Well, he brags and boasts but it’s usually all in good fun. Some don’t realize that he often jokes about how amazing he is and that sometimes he’s just doing it for the hell of it. Not that he doesn’t have a reason to brag, however. No, Zane is almost entirely self made unlike most that attend Aura Academy. He worked hard for everything he has, except for his looks and unexplainable charm. He’s never been very book smart but he knows the value of a dollar and how to support himself and it irrates him when ‘better off’ kids complain about having no change for a hundred at work or something else just as ridiculous. If he’s being dead serious about his boasting or ranting, you’ll know it. Though he calls himself the ‘Irish Sex God’ and means it. The boy tends to get around and he’s never had a complaint. If you’re looking for a passionate night, no strings attached he’s usually the one to see about it. Not that he is desperate in the slightest. Zane is an extremely prideful and stubborn guy. Despite his laid back and carefree attitude most times challenge or question something he feels strongly about or threaten him and you’ll get his horns. Prideful and stupid he’ll defend something till the end whether it means losing something valuable in the process or not. Most times he realizes this but refuses to apologize. If he does you better feel mighty special and bask in the glory.

The Trouble-Maker;;
Zane’s one of many mischief makers in Aura Academy, perhaps the best. His mischievous nature and curiosity has kept him in constant trouble throughout his career, haha he’s probably the most seen in detention, whether it was from skipping class or pranking a teacher. Now, curiosity was mentioned. I’d say he’s about as curious as a kid in a toy store. He likes to examine and touch things, especially things with DO NOT TOUCH signs. I mean honestly who ain’t goin ta touch it? It’s practically an unwritten rule!! Touch whatever people tell you not to. Much more fun that way. he tends to examine with his fingers more so than his eyes.

Along with that Zane has a very bold and playful. He isn’t afraid to risk his neck or break a few rules. He likes to take risks and doesn’t really worry much about his well being. He’ll never back down from a dare or bet. Stupid stunts are his forte and he’ll do anything that he’s dared. Well, except deal with needles. As a child his veins were hard to find and when blood was needed, the nurses would always jab his arm in the wrong place. Having it happen over and over as a tot scarred him for life and he absolutely hates the things. Which is good in a way cause it keeps him from getting involved with shooting up.
Zane does’nt give much thought about himself, but he does try and remember his father so he does think about him first sometimes. Other than that he isn’t afraid of anything. After all the only thing to fear is fear itself right?

He’s a very friendly guy most of the time, out going and all that jazz. Zane gets along with most everyone, though he’s quite naïve about it. He is usually oblivious when he is disliked, it takes along time or extreme bluntness for him to realize. Which brings me to my next point. Zane can be very blunt a lot of the time. Often he says things before he speaks and he’s well aware he does this. He believes in honesty so he’ll tell you to your face if he likes or doesn’t like something, especially if asked. He says what he thinks without sensor most times but there’s the occasional exception, just not often.

When it comes to school, he has a habit of skipping classes or sleeping through them. It’s amazing he’s not been kicked out. Most times you’ll find the boy down at the beach or out partying. What about studying? Psct yeah right. Zane? Study? That’s definitely a good one. Where he’ll end up in life he doesn’t have a clue and right now doesn’t care. Or at least that’s what he likes for people to think and assume.

The Protector;;
What most don’t realize about Zane is that he is quite a focused and determined young lad when he wants to be. How else would he have made it this far with his mischievous tendencies? He has some self control and though he uses it sparingly, it’s there. He worked a total of three jobs to pay for not only his life style, but his father’s as well only a year ago. They weren’t all on the same day which gave him the occasional surf/party time, but he’s had to learn to juggle things and not for just himself. Not that his father refused to help, it’s just that he couldn’t. Working as a construction worker took much too much out of him and with him no longer able to work, Zane had to make ends meet for the both of them. Not that he let it be too much of a burden. The young Irish man thought the world of his father and I safely say would’ve die for him, so he did his best to not let it bother him, though he was human and was disheartened sometimes. Zane inherited his pride from his father and though it pained him, his father often tried to pretend that he was fine, which worried the younger male. He knew that his father wanted him to have a normal life so he tended to hide the fact he had to struggle so much. For his pride and his father’s Zane pretended he had a normal carefree life on a daily basis, often masking the fact. He feels he was protecting his father a lot of the time and himself.

Being a fairly protective guy, Zane can be quite an ally. He’ makes friends easily with his fun, laid back style, and though he’ll go out on a limb for someone he just met, it’s fairly hard to truly get in his inner circle. Once there you’re there for life though. He isn’t the jealous type but he can be protective of his friends and absolutely hates guys that beat on women. If wind ever gets to him that someone’s hurt any of his friends Zane will track them down and kick their ass. More of a lover than a fighter, when it comes to protecting his friends, his temper shows.

The Lover;;
For the most part, Zane is what one would call a man whore. He loves the attention of a women and is a ‘God’ in the sack. The boy does get around and he’s never had a complaint, only requests for more. Sometimes it goes to his head…ok it does a lot of the time. He flirts and hooks up but he isn’t keen on dating. For the most part he avoids love. He does believe in love, yes, but he prefers flings and no-strings attached typed things. Why? Because he knows that if he does chances are he’ll hurt her or he’ll be hurt. He avoids actual relationships in fear of falling in love too fast and too hard and having his heart broken isn’t something that sounds ideal to him.

Besides being single’s more fun. Other than that, he’s a pretty big flirt. The girls love him, though he’s not the smartest guy, he’s got a certain charm. Flirting is something he loves to do and he comes off as both charming and fun. His accent is enough to drive girls wild. Accents are always a plus. Some find his playful ways annoying but he couldn’t care less. Zane likes to party and have fun but he can be quite romantic if he really gets to know a girl. It’s almost as if he’s a whole other person. He can be quite sweet and affectionate when he’s serious about a girl. He’s never been afraid to talk to them and he respects them, despite his shameless flirting. He would never under any circumstance hit a girl. It’s cowardly of a guy to strike a girl in his opinion. But back to when he gets serious. Zane has a habit of pampering those he finds himself truly interested in and though he doesn’t have much he makes due with what he has. There might not be any expensive restaurants but expect a candle lit home made dinner or a picnic in the park (yes, he learned to cook as a kid). Sure he may not have the money for expensive jewelry or showers of roses but expect showers of kisses and simple gifts with deep and thoughtful meanings. It isn’t often Zane gets this way but when he does it’s hard not to take notice. For the most part, Zane hasn’t the time for anything serious and rather than explain his situation and hurt his family’s pride, he’d rather be thought of a hopeless manwhore. No one wants to seriously date one of those for more reasons than one. Mostly people don’t want to run the risk of getting hurt, but Zane’s never been one to cheat in a serious relationship. Not that he goes around broad casting that. It makes everything easier for him, ya know?

The Gifted;;
Unlike normal teens Zane has always had something that made him stand out, that in particular being his stunning teal eyes. They’re piercing…quite literally speaking…they can see through things. The first time he could remember his gift scarred the shit out of him. He was young maybe about eleven when he was out playing football (soccer) and kicked the ball over a fence on accident. He ran over, trying to think of where to look so he could get over quickly and just…saw through the wall causing him to run head first into it. Now a days he has more control of it, even after being in the Academy a year it’s improved and he loves to use it. I mean, what hormone enraged boy wouldn’t?? Though he controls it well there are times he can’t help but to sneak a peak, whether he’s stealthy about it or doing it just to work someone’s nerve. It comes in handy when avoiding teachers in the late hours of the night so there’s no doubt that he doesn’t always use it for saintly reasons.

But over all, he’s a very complex lad. It’s as simple as that.

Appearance: Though it depends on who you talk to, most would say that Zane is a pretty good looking fellow. He the epitome of the tall, dark and handsome gentleman in a sense that often takes a girl’s and sometimes even a guy’s breath away. Standing at a nice height of six foot one and a muscle mass of a seasoned athlete, his size can be slightly intimidating but if you stay on his good side, you have nothing to worry about. His build is anything but flabby due to his constant working out when he isn’t in school, whether it be from actual work or just plain exercising. He likes to stay in shape, just not to the point he looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger. No, his structure is lean, defined, and slightly built not a bulging mass of muscles.

Maybe even more appealing than his fit body are his teal colored eyes. Their usual shades vary from green to blue, never really settling on a specific amount of either but no one seems to mind. Actually there is something very apealing about them to most, whether it be the way the light can catch them just right to make one color appear to stand out more than the other or their natural glow in general. His seemingly care-free nature and mischievousness harnesses a sort of perminant glow in them that’s rather alluring. He’s been told several times his eyes are easy to get lost in and he believes it. Sometimes he can be wary of them though for he knows how easily he conveys emotion through them. On most occasions Zane is careless, he doesn’t give a shit what anyone thinks and being able to ‘be himself’ keeps him generally happy in the eyes of others, but he knows that there is another side of him behind those teal eyes of his and sometimes it just can’t help but show through.

Zane always tries to hide this with his infamous smile however. He doesn’t like the thought of being vulnerable or thought of as such so he often flashes a smile and bares it, convincing himself that things will be ok. The boy truly does have a smile that’s hard to forget thanks to years of practicing the art of smiling, grinning and his favorite, smirking. His large goofy grins are signature when he’s done something mischievous so not only does it hide but give way to other emotions. The only thing more signature about his looks than his smile is definitely his messy locks of hair. Dark brunette in color, there are hardly any words to describe his wild mane. His hair is a play thing to most girls and he don’t mind in the slightest. It’s semi long, but not perfectly straight. Now, he’s not one of those guys who constantly tease, primp, and preen his hair. No he could care less about how it looks and he rarely do anything with it at all. Often times it looks like it hasn’t been taken care of in ages, but it works for him. Zane washes his hair and what not but he never fools with brushing it in the mornings afterward. He lets it dry, looking like he just got out of bed and he likes it that way. He can’t help if he can just wake up in the morning and look good and oh does he know he’s hot. He does like to keep it somewhat shaggy, it’s just more his style. Cutting it is something he absolutely hates though he will trim it every now and again. Though he’s not constantly fixing it, he has a tendency to ruffle it out of boredom a lot. He boarders the line of arrogance, but he believes he’s just confident and what’s wrong with that? Zane’s always been fairly comfortable in his own skin and he holds no shame in showing it off. He prefers not wearing clothes at all and wouldn’t mind prancing about in his birthday suit all the time. Most times he keeps his boxers on, just to be somewhat curtious seeing as he still lives with his father. He probably would be weirded out if his son was a nudist.

SHOWING THE WAY TO HEAVEN

    Colton Reid– Father – Deceased
    Giselle Reid – Mother – Deceased
Pet(s): none, but hopes to get one soon
Financial Status: poor

History: Surprisingly enough, Zane’s story begins in the beautiful and Celtic lands of Ireland. There was the place he was conceived and somewhat raised, though let’s backtrack a little. Giselle and Colton Reid were quite the pairing back in their day. Colton was a strong and handsome young man, star of their school’s football team, football being the equivalent to the American sport of soccer. He was one of the most sought after guys in the school, but he was always too busy with sports to take notice of the hoards of girls that were constantly after him. Being a very focused and determined guy all he wanted to do was through himself into the game and be the best that he could be. Now, Giselle Williamson was an exchange student from Britain, but like most girls, had her eye on Colton, she just wasn’t as bold or as out with it as most girls. As a matter of fact, she resented him for the power he had over her and the fact he hadn’t a clue he had it. She was head over heels for him, but at the same time she hated his guts. The two of them never seemed to cross paths until one day in the courtyard, Giselle was rushing to get home for something and Colton, not really noticing, kicked the football he was practicing with and hit her right smack in the head. The ball knocked her out cold and startled him, but he quickly scooped her up in his arms and carried her to the nurse’s ward. When Giselle awoke she was surprised to find the very worried Colton looming above her, shouting to the nurse that she was awake. She wasn’t happy about what had happened, but the results afterward she would have no other way.

After that day, Colton felt so badly he just couldn’t seem to get her off his mind. She was fine, but he still couldn’t help for feeling guilty so he began tracking her down to apologize, this time making it more personal. It took forever to find her and instead of finding an ecstatic girl he found a rather indifferent one. He was so used to the bellas fawning over him, it intrigued him that Giselle seemed to hate his guts. It was weird to him to like someone that hated him, but he began to ‘bump’ into her more often and eventually the two became friends. Giselle though secretly in ecstasy about her new found friendship, kept her feelings under wraps until one night while hanging out, Colton confessed that he loved her. Those simple words took her breath away and not two seconds they were dating. The two lasted until after graduation and Colton got a football offer to play in the leagues. Giselle was iffy about him traveling so much, but didn’t want to keep him from his dreams so off he went.

Colton played in the leagues for quite some time but him and Giselle spent time together as often as possible and married when they turned twenty. They stayed extremely close but something always bothered them. The two of them wanted children…but after trying and having a visit to the doctor two years later it was determined she wasn’t able to have children. It broke their hearts, but they thought about adopting sometime. Colton could tell that Giselle was highly upset about not being able to bare, but they got over it eventually and went about their lives until one fateful night three years after the diagnosis. For weeks Giselle had been ill. She was vomiting and having mood swings, all sorts of things and it was troubling Colton. Opted to take a break from football and take care of her but after a month she wasn’t getting better. Taking her to the hospital, they checked her out and to their surprise…she was two months pregnant. The two of them were stunned…but completely ecstatic about it. Colton wouldn’t let her lift a finger afterward, worried that she might tire herself too much. He was so excited to be a father and she to be a mother. This baby was to be their miracle child…their angel.

On a warm spring’s day in May, that angel finally graced the earth with his presence. The two already had names picked out for each sex, not wanting to know which until the actual birth. Though like his conception…his arrival was just as much of a surprise. When the young woman began to have contractions almost a month too soon, Colton freaked. He ran about the house grabbing this and that, cursing in his Irish accent as he tried to remember everything he was supposed to do, almost forgetting Giselle in the process. When he eventually reached the hospital they ran into even more trouble…the baby’s umbilical chord was caught around its neck. After hours of labor they finally managed to cut it and get him out safely. Giselle didn’t look to be in good shape though she put on her poker face as they handed her their bundle. Colton was right by her side the whole time. Quite lucky for the couple the fact he was premature didn’t affect him at all. He was a small child but he was healthy.

Once Giselle finally was able to hold her little one, he was dubbed Zane Sebastian. The two of them new he was going to be a handful from the minute she passed him to Colton and he took him into his arms. Zane reached up and yanked his hair before spitting up all over him. He was a pretty good baby, but his tiny size made it incredibly hard to find his veins as a child so he had problems with that later on in his life. It was often to hard to find his veins so he was stuck over and over, causing him to develop a slight fear of them. For the most part he was a very happy infant though, always smiling and cooing and most important healthy. But Colton soon found his mind on other things as the baby was taken to be put into the infantry. Giselle’s body began to fail, to tired and frail from the labor of the baby she was never supposed to have. She died that night…cradled lightly in Colton’s arms, telling him that she would be fine and was happy to have gotten to look into their child’s big teal eyes even just one time before whispering a soft I love you. Colton was heart broken, but he knew he had a child to care for. Playing football was the only way he knew how to make money that and building things, and he knew he couldn’t take a new born on so much travel. He retired that year and began working odd jobs while caring for little Zane.

Zane was a handful from the beginning. As a baby he was somewhat hard to handle, but Colton loved him all the same. The minute he began to crawl, he was into anything and everything. His father had a hard time keeping things away and out of his mouth. Upon hitting age two, he learned to talk in complete understandable sentences (in an Irish accent of course), and though proud of his son he couldn’t ever get him to shut up. Bastian was the child who rattled off everything his little mind contained to random people which meant everyone he met learned his address, his name, his age, everything. Colton was struggling to spend time with him. As the boy slept through the night so Colton worked night shifts and spent the days with him in a small apartment. They didn’t have much, but they loved each other. Zane was a pretty clumsy child as well, always running into this and that. Not one tear was ever shed though. He’d get up and dust himself off before doing it again. Sometimes he had bruises and scratches all over him. So much some thought he was getting beaten, until they saw how rough he played. Yep Zane was definitely a little boy and the two were almost inseparable in the day. Then school began. The little Irish man was friendly and outgoing that’s to his father’s influence so it was easy enough for him to make friends. With him in a classroom, Colton felt lonesome, but it gave him more of an opportunity to work and save up money for later. Zane was growing and he felt they needed all the money they could get. As he got older he loved to play outdoors and goof around. He was the type of boy who about broke his neck everyday and always came home scrapped up from playing to rough with his friends or doing something stupid. Zane was what anyone would imagine a boy to be. Loud, hyper, clumsy, sweet yet annoying. He wasn’t the brightest in the class but he served as a comic relief, you know the kid that ate bugs just to get everyone to say ew or farting to cause the class to burst out in giggles.

He was a special child though neither truly realized until he was about eleven. One day while playing football he managed to kick the ball over a fence with a dog in it. Now, this dog had always scared him but he ran over, already picking places to look before hopping over. By the time he found it, the dog was after him. All he could think about was getting past that wall and what was on the other side. He could practically see right through it…and before he knew it smacked right into it. Luckily the neighbor had come out and got to dog before it could rip his handsome face to shreds. That night Zane told his father about seeing through it, but he didn’t believe him. That’s when Zane began trying to develop his ‘power’ and it was working slowly but surely.

Upon hitting his thirteenth birthday, Colton announced that they were moving somewhere better with the money he’d been saving up. Not just out of their small apartment but out of the country too. Zane was stunned. He loved Ireland. He loved the food, the girls, the smell, the girls. Ok, he’d gotten a bit girl crazy once puberty hit and he’d grown up so to speak. He’d gotten taller and playing football had sculpted his body a bit more. He was definitely a cute kid and he got all the attention his father once had. Zane felt his small poor world scattering but he didn’t let on to his father. No, he wanted his dad to be happy so they moved to New York, New York a little less than a year later. By the time they got settled in their small quaint house it was time for Zane to enter his freshman year at Estabrooke. His English was still very much broken and though he quickly became the ‘hot foreign exchange student’ and made friends, he found himself in the wrong set. He began to drink a little, party a little, because by the time he was fourteen, he was about five foot ten and still growing. He was the class clown still and quite the ladies man at school, he even played on the football team…err soccer team and still managed to keep his hot Irish accent. Colton had got a job doing construction and things were going well for almost a year. At the end of Zane’s freshman year, Colton was hurt on the construction site badly. He wasn’t critical…but it was so bad he had to be put on disability and he was constantly sick. Something hit his spinal and it made it hard for him to do much of anything himself, let alone construction.

Zane had to put his party an surfing life on the back burners and start working to help pay for the house and all their essentials. Colton got workman’s comp, but it just wasn’t enough. Though it was hard, Zane tried not to let it bother him, knowing how hard it was for his father, a once strong and talented and not to forget prideful man to be reduced to sitting about the house all day by his lonesome. Zane had planned on living in the dorms that year, but opted against it, staying with his father and taking on three different jobs to help out. That year went from bad to worse when Colton passed away three quarters of the way into the year. It devastated Zane, so much so he dropped out of school and lost himself for a while. With his now more developed powers he began to survive by pick pocketing people and other things…until he was found by an Aura scout. He was reluctant but decided to try and let go and move on. Now in his Junior year, Zane is still working on turning his life back around, but he hasn’t stopped his mischievousness behavior. He doesn’t mention his parents or past, he keeps that separate from his current life, not not wanting to remember but not wanting to regress into the pain.

OH, AND FOR JUST YOU AND I

QUOTE
Honestly Zane wanted nothing more than to break his alarm clock into a thousand itty bitty pieces of shrapnel and feed them to whatever dog was barking outside so loudly. Maybe it would kill the damn thing. Rolling over, the young man squinted to look at the red blinking numbers that were situated across the room just to keep him from pounding the rectangular beeping machine into oblivion. After replacing at least six of them, he'd finally thought of a plan that worked better than busting it up once it woke him early in the morning in the weekends. It was such a simple idea but it worked perfectly, Zane got out his aggression and got up. Griping, the brunette slipped out of bed, tugging on his green and red Italy boxers to make sure they weren't around his knees again. What? It got hot sometimes! Shuffling his bare feet across the shag carpet of the room, Zane reached the clock and picked it up.

The object was slightly heavier than it looked at first and as he held it, the boy squeezed, feeling some pressure yet something give way. There was something taped around the ringing object but not muffling the sound at all, though it did keep it from shattering as Zane threw it at the floor in agitation. The item merely hit the floor with a soft thud, but then again, that's what happens when you wrap about three layers of bubblewrap around something. Yea, genius idea right? Looking at the metal contraption the young man sighed and made his way toward the shower. Getting up early had never been a problem for him in the past, well when he didn't have a mad hang over it wasn't one, but he was perfectly sober and pissed. Maybe it was because he knew he had work this early. What time was it? About seven and he had to be there at eight. It never took him too long in the shower so he was pretty much out and dressed in less than a half hour so he could check in on his father.

Dressed in a nice pair of slacks and a forest green long sleeved shirt, Zane felt like he wanted to shoot himself but it was almost Christmas and their outfits had to be Christmas colors. Besides it was better than the other choice, the one with the picture of Frosty the Snowman on it. Stepping into his father's room, the young man frowned slightly seeing the older man lying in the bed, partly unconvered. There house had poor circulation in the first place, so he knew he had to be cold as he silently padded over to him and pulled up the blankets around him, whispering that he was off to work. No answer was heard right away, but Zane hadn't expected any at all and was surprised to hear a soft thank you and hurr back.

Usually Zane worked evenings on Sunday despite the school he had in the morning, but today they asked him to come for the morning shift and help prepare for Santa. Yes, the young Italian worked in the mall on Sunday's and whatever day he could fit into his busy schedule. He helped with random things like Arcade duty or the guy behind the information desk. One time he ended up selling cellphones at a roll around cart. That day he got more numbers than he sold phones. Today was going to be hell and he knew it the minute he stepped inside the mall doors, watching everyone scurrying about to set up the Christmas scene the exact way the mall manager wanted it. Zane moved this and that around, the large center of the mall starting out with three helpers and then dwindling down to him. It was slightly frustrating but hey, he was getting paid so he hummed a Christmas tune as he worked. It was a few hours later they finally finishedand around the time people would begin bringing their kids...but where was Santa?? A few kids and their parents began to show up, standing in the line disignated as the lane to see Santa and a fewbegan to grow impatient after standing for five minutes without a sign of the man in the big red suit. Zane was off to the side watching casually anxious to get home when he felt someone grab his shoulder.

"You've got to be shittin me!? I can't James, I've got a fucking accent!" he whispered truly shocked. They had to joking...they had to. His manager shook his head as he pushed the young man toward the back room. "No I'm not. Santa's a no show and there's no one else. You have to you're the only one tall enough and skinny enough to fit into the Santa suit. And as for the accent, none of the kids will notice. Besides, you don't wanna ruin Christmas do ya? Please and thanks, here's the suit," Before Zane could get a word out, James disappeared leaving him with a fat suit and a Santa outfit. In years past all the people playing Santa had actually been skinny so they made a suit that made them look and feel 'fluffy'. Pulling on the first piece of the suit he groaned, it felt weird as hell bein fat. I better be getting extra for this, he told himself after slipping on the big red suit, beard and hat, making sure to hide his brown crop of hair.

Walking about in the suit was hard, but he knew he had to get out there. Zane made his way around the site, hearing squeals of children as they pointed and squirmed about at the sight of him. It made him smile a little, giving them a Ho,Ho,Ho as he sat down on the large chair. It felt even weirder as he did so and the first child made their way up and sat in his lap askin for several things, including a toy fire truck and a tee-ball set. It was going to be a long day and though he wanted to be pissed, he couldn't as he saw the smiling faces of the kids and some of their hot moms. What? Santa had to have his fun too, well this one anyway!
