It was cold out, that’s all Seth was thinking as he walked around the Oasis, he should have brought a jacket instead of just wearing the sweater. He needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of the school campus, and this was where he normally went. The Oasis was quiet and calming, and when they snow was on the ground it was beautiful. He remembered in freshman year it was the first place he visited, now ultimately he was thrown into the pond by Tristian, his step brother, but still it was a nice memory. There was also the one where Sebi and he just hung out under the stars last spring; he liked memories like that, being a romantic at heart. He felt some snowflakes land on his face, the simplicity of the moment was refreshing, no cliques, no rules, and no stress. He loved it

He made his way over to the bench where Sebi and he sat that night. She was one of his best friends, and ironically his ex. He was always a little ashamed that their relationship ended, mainly because it was a little after she said she was bi, he was okay with that, fine actually, he even supported her. He just couldn’t help but feel that he didn’t show it enough, and that she thought they broke up because of that. He sat down and sighed, there was a lot on his plate, he was still trying to fully master his power, plus he had tests coming up and on top of that the Masquerade Ball was coming up. He didn’t have a date to it, not that he needed one, or would have the nerve to ask anyone. Scout asked him out, yea non traditional, he knows.

He was getting a bit colder, still bearable but he was regretting not wearing a jacket. He was contemplating going back to his room, or going somewhere warm. Yet the fact that no one was around was keeping him where he was. He took out his notebook and started to write, random observations, something he did when he was alone and thinking, he noticed that a rabbit was pawing through the snow; he also noticed that there was more snow under the tree than out in the open due to it falling off the tree. It was actually kind of sad he did this, but it passed the time and calmed him down. He looked up and saw someone walking towards him, he thought he recognized them but he wasn’t sure. “Hey” He said, kind of hoping it was someone he knew.

Snow. Snow, snow, snow. Scout loved the snow, and she was thrilled that everything had snowed over at the Oasis. It wasn't, she noticed dismally, in her hometown (though yesterday had been a practical blizzard), and as she pulled her mind back out of her house, where her sister Max had just fallen asleep over math homework, she was grateful for the weather.

One thing she didn't like about snow: it was most definitely not motorcycle weather. She usually just put on her heated riding gear and went out if the roads were alright, but when they were as icy as this, it was difficult to ride without worrying about dumping her Sportster. So she had to bum rides off of other students, or ride the bus, which is what she had done today.

She gazed aorund the Oasis with a smile. Here was a place full of memories for Scout--she had come here often with Seth, when the two of them were together. She chuckled softly, remembering the day she had asked him to the Masquerade Ball (non-traditional, but that was the best part about the girl asking the guy). And then when they had broken up. It had just gotten a bit awkward with their relationship, having told him she was bi, but Scout didn't regret anything. Now she had a supportive best friend that she loved to spend time with.

Scout lifted her eyes up off the ground and scanned the area to see if there was anything nearby. To her surprise, she saw a shock of red hair and a person she would have recognized a mile away. She jogged towards the young man, her breath coming out in white puffs in front of her. "Hey, Seth!" she called, coming up to him. She noted, a bit ironically, that he was sitting on that same bench: the one they had sat on together. She half-rolled her eyes and sat down next to him.

"So what's up?" she asked, tilting her head to the side and half-smiling at him.
