SHINING OH SO BRIGHTLY

Personality Traits:
Confident: Madison doesn't look like the type of girl one would imagine to be so confident, though that in fact is what makes her so confident. Madison knows she's not the prettiest or most popular girl, and she's okay with that. She knows she's not perfect, and embraces her flaws. She's secure enough with herself that she doesn't let public opinion sway her.
Open-minded: Madison doesn't judge people or situations based on superficial reasons, or shun someone for making mistakes. She likes to give everyone a chance. She also believes that just because people say something's bad or societally unacceptable doesn't mean it is. That doesn't mean she does everything she accepts in others, she just goes by the saying "to each his own" and tries to see the good in everyone.
Naive: Don't get things wrong, Madison's not stupid. In fact, she's very smart. But she's innocent and can be overly trusting. It's the downside of her being able to see the good in others, and sometimes gets her hurt.
Eccentric: Madison has some offbeat interests. She likes watching anime and reading manga, loves reading about the paranormal, and despite her wealthy background, prefers thrift-shop clothes and her own her own homemade jewelry to trendier stuff. She feels thrift store clothes have a history and likes to imagine what the previous owner of her clothes was like. She also likes homemade jewelry, because it's more interesting than conventional jewelry, and is proud of her own art, so why shouldn't she wear it?
Intuitive: Madison is able to pick up on and notice certain things others don't see, especially regarding people. Sometimes, it's merely observation, but others, it's just a gut feeling, something she can "just tell".
General Personality: Madison isn't exactly your average girl. For one thing, she's confident without being full of herself. It's a rare quality, especially in fifteen-year-old girls. She knows who she is, and knows that what other people think doesn't make her any more or less of a person. In her mind, worrying about what other people think is a waste of time that could be put to use doing something more productive or enjoyable. If she wants to wear that skirt from the thrift shop that no other girl at school would be caught dead in, she doesn't care- she'll wear it. If she's interested in something others find weird, it won't stop her from getting into it. Why should she let others stop her from doing what she wants?

While this attitude may gain admiration from others who wish they were as bold, it often gains disdain from those that feel that if they have to conform to societal standards in order to be happy, so should everyone else. But Madison would rather unabashedly be herself and get flack for it than be someone she isn't. She figures no matter what you do, someone's bound to have an issue with it, anyway, so you might as well do what you like.

Madison is bright, optimistic, and interesting. She tends to live by the phrase "If life hands you lemons, make lemonade." She'll try to make the best out of any situation, and see the good in others. Even when she doesn't like a person, she doesn't try to aggravate them, but instead, chooses not to acknowledge their existence unless prompted to. She feels that if she doesn't like someone, she shouldn't bother paying them any attention. As for the people she does like, she's a loyal and caring friend, and a great listener. She's also very honest, although sometimes too honest, which occasionally gets her in trouble. But most of the time she doesn't mean to offend anyone or make them uncomfortable, she just doesn't always bother to think before she speaks.

Likes:
    Her camera
Sour Patch Kids (especially the red ones)
    thrift shops

Appearance: Madison is not your typical all-American beauty. Instead, she has an ethereal look to her that is unconventionally pretty to some, and entirely unattractive to others. She's short, and while her figure is in proportion, it's not particularly eye-catching. It's her eyes and hair that catch most people's eyes. Her most notable physical feature is her hair. Pale blonde, wavy, and almost long enough to sit on. Sometimes she'll straighten it for a special occasion, and then it really is long enough to sit on, though such a large quantity of hair is usually too much of a pain to straighten, and requires another person to help, so she rarely bothers.

Her eyes are her second most notable feature, and arguably her most attractive. Huge and bright blue, they're expressive as they are beautiful. She has a porcelain complexion, despite her love of the outdoors. As she sunburns easily, she's always sure to vigorously apply sunscreen often. Most girls would hate to have skin that white, but Madison likes it, except when it burns, of course. Madison usually doesn't wear a lot of makeup, but due to her blonde lashes, almost always makes sure to wear mascara. It's her only consistent concession to vanity.

History:
Madison Elizabeth Black was born on April 9th, 1992 to James and Ellen Black. Ten minutes later, her twin sister [???] arrived. The twins had been inseparable as young children. Even now, they're still very close, though they've discovered their own (albeit similar) identities. And despite differing personalities, Madison is also very close to her other siblings, [???] and Alice. Despite her parents fame, she and her siblings weren't the typical Hollywood kids. The Blacks are a very close-knit family, and James and Ellen knew what could happen to children of famous parents. They didn't want their kids in rehab before they hit their twenties, or in rehab at all, for that matter. Though the children were indulged and spoiled, they were also taught to do the right things and their parents made sure to spend time with them. The twins had to wear ID bracelets with their names engraved in them at all times to tell them apart. As they got older, they switched bracelets to trick others, particularly in school. When it got to be a problem, they were required to wear necklaces with their names as pendants, as they were more difficult to remove than bracelets.

At a young age, despite having as many toys as she wanted, there was nothing Madison liked more than coloring, drawing, painting, or "sculpting" Play-Doh. As she got older, she graduated from Play-Doh to real clay and began making her own jewelry. She also followed in her father's footsteps by taking up photography. She still has her first camera displayed in her bedroom at home. One of her other favorite childhood pastimes was playing tag, as she could always run faster than anyone else, literally running like the wind. As she grew older, she got even faster, to the point where it appeared as if her feet weren't even on the ground. And maybe they weren't.

Even as a small child, Madison challenged conventions. She started by wearing mismatched socks as a kid, because who said her socks had to match? She's always been drawn to the strange and offbeat. Usually, she was allowed to do these kinds of things, and was never forced by her parents to conform, as long as she usually behaved herself. Her father, being a nonconformist himself, encouraged it. This got her branded a weirdo in school, but as long as she had [insert twin's name here], she didn't need any other friends. She felt if they didn't want to be her friend, she didn't want to be their friend. Sometimes the insults hurt, but it always helped to have [insert twin's name] sticking together with her, and as she got older, the insults bothered her less.

At ten, while suffering from a bad cold, she was struck with a sneezing and coughing fit. When the fit was over, the contents of her room were strewn everywhere. Her bookshelf and dressers had been knocked over by the force of her coughs and sneezes. For a while, her powers didn't affect her daily life unless she had particularly bad sneezing and/or coughing fits, but by the age of twelve, things got so bad that she had to be privately tutored at home so her powers wouldn't be discovered by anyone at school. She calls herself an Airbender, in reference to her favorite TV show, Avatar: The Last Airbender. About a year ago, she and her twin started at Aura Academy, and despite [insert brother's name] being a rebel and Alice being a majestic, it was practically inevitable Madison would be a unique. Her twin ended up as a unique, too, which was not a surprise, as the two have always stuck together.

QUOTE
Elise hated geometry. She wasn't especially bad at it. Even with minimal effort, she could still pull a C minus. With the effort she put in, she managed B plusses. Still, she managed to tolerate it on most days. Today, however, it was her last class of the day, which made it unbearable. She stared at the clock, ticking at the pace of a snail. She knew staring at the clock didn't make class go faster, but she couldn't help it. It was like an instinct or something. Just as Elise was beginning to think she couldn't take it anymore, the bell rang.

Elise happily shoved her things in her bag and leaped up, hurrying out the door to her locker to get her gymnastics bag. On her way to her locker, Elise's cell phone rang. She looked at it, to see she had a text message from her coach. The text said "Personal emergency. Practice is canceled today. Sorry." Elise's curiosity was briefly piqued, wondering what kind of emergency her coach had, but the thought was brushed away by more important matters- how was she going to spend her afternoon now?

She didn't feel like going home. That wasn't an option at all. Maybe chill out in central park. Or go to an arcade. Or put her new debit card to use. Yes, that was always a good option. She decided to call Jenny and see if she wanted to meet at Bendel's. She dialed Jenny's number. Jenny didn't pick up, so she left her a voicemail. "Hey, it's me, Elise. Practice got canceled, so I'm going to Bendel's instead. Wanna meet me there?"

A little while later, Elise arrived in Bendel's. Jenny hadn't called yet, but it hadn't been long, anyway. She might as well get started while she waited for Jenny's response. She already had several great pairs of jeans- those were the only fashionable items of clothing her mom had purchased for her before she was allowed to shop for herself. Tops, skirts, dresses, where to begin? She decided to just take in the clothes first, looking around and deciding what she wanted to try on.

Her eye was caught by a strapless fitted black Diane von Furstenburg tube dress with a funky print that included big flowers in different colors, a black sash that tied in a bow in front just under the bust, and had a sweetheart neckline. She couldn't resist heading right to the dressing room to try it on. On her way, she grabbed a pair of strappy black heels to try on with them- after all, she'd be wearing heels if she wore that dress, and wanted to see how it would all appear on her. After she had the dress on, she admired her reflection in the mirror. She felt so grown-up in that dress and those heels. She stepped outside the dressing room stall and looked at the larger mirror outside. She had to get that dress. But there were two reasons not to. One, where was she going to wear it? Jenny was her only friend, so it's not like she went to a lot of parties, unless it was one of those functions that the entire family went to, and she couldn't ever let her mom see her in that dress. That was the second reason- her mother wouldn't let her out of the house in it. Oh, but it was so perfect. She bit her lip, mentally debating whether to buy the dress or not.
