Jordan Smarte - December 15, 2007 11:23 PM (GMT)
Her hazel eyes were closed as the wind rushed at her face. Her dark hair whipped behind her without stop, which made Jordan look up at the sky. The wind died slowly. Jordan had slipped away from her friends for the time being, out to just think of things without real meaning. Her hooded jacket hung over her head, and into her eyes; and she had a pair of jeans on her thin frame. A tank top, as well, was worn by the young girl. The day was just saying hello, and with it the gift, as usual, was a fresh blanket of snow. It was normally this way, and had been all week. But, the day was brand new So, the snow was, for the time being a light fluffy thing.

Of course, this was the normal weather, at least. If Jordan was in a bad mood, from time to time, she'd Make a hail storm. But, she'd slept well over night. A nice, dreamless sleep. Jordan felt the cold begin to worsen, and sighed, standing up easily and walking towards her car to pull out a bathing suit and a small tote bag to carry her clothing in afterward. Maybe she would swim a little. That always calmed her down a bit. She blinked some snowflakes from her eyes, and walked toward the pool hall.

She went straight to the bathroom as she walked into the warm building. She changed from her outfit into a small red-and-green bikini she'd bought in light of the holidays. Jordan allowed her long hair to lie down her back gracefully and felt comfortable for once. Rounding up her items, she stowed them into a bag, and walked out into the main room. Jordan placed her items onto a chair, and turned to one of the pools. She grinned at it, walking to it, and climbing down the front steps. The water felt so nice compared to the freezing temperatures outside. The heated water was enough for Jordan to automatically relax. Warm. She smiled, and dipped her head back into the water, plastering it to her back gracefully. Jordan loved the pool.

The hall was very nearly empty this early saturday. Jordan supposed it was because of the sheer time. Possibly the temperature. No, that couldn't be it. People would come here for warmth, normally. So... the time would be a good guess. Jordan always woke up early. She got to sleep around nine, most of the time, and just didn't see the need in sleeping in that much. Too much sleep was just, unappealing to Miss Smarte. Caught up in her thoughts, Jordan didn't notice somebody join her in the hall. She had just gone underneath the surface, and was swimming once more by the time they'd entered, so she didn't know that she wasn't really alone anymore. Another student had joined her presence.

Gavin Falls - December 16, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)
Gavin woke with a start. His cell phone had been going off for a couple minutes now. He glanced at the alarm clock next to him. 3:00 AM. Who the heck would call him this early? Hoping not to disturb his roommate, Gavin turned the volume off on his cell. Silently he rubbed his eyes. It had been a late night. And now he was up hours before that crack of dawn. It just didn't seem fair. He swung his legs over the side of them bed and stood up. Grabbing his phone, he headed into the hall. There were two messages from his mom.

After listening to them Gavin sat down will his back up against his door. His sister was in the hospital again. For a minute he sat there with his eyes closed. Then he called his mom back and got the details. By the time he got of the phone it was past four thirty. Since he was at school there wasn't much he could do to comfort his family. He just had to wait until this problem was solved.

Deciding he needed to clear his head, Gavin went into his room. He grabbed his clothes and out them on. Then he just put random things into the bag. His mind wasn't really focused on his action. As he walked out of the room he looked back at how peacefully his roommate slept. How lucky,,,

Once Gavin walked outside a blast of cold hit him. The thin jacket he was wearing wasn't the best choice. But he kept going. His feet led him around. Finally he hit the parking garage. Gavin climbed into the front seat and started the engine. It could have been hours or just minutes before he arrived at the pool hall. Not his first choice, but warmth awaited him inside. And he wanted to escape the confines of his car. The bathrooms were near the front so he headed in. Faintly he remembered stuffing a bathing suit into the bag on his back. Gavin changed slowly and made his way to one of the pools. The early hour didn't seem to attract many people to swimming. But there was one girl, a blond, that Gavin woul recognize anywhere. Jordan was underneath the water when he walked over.

Smiling his crooked smile, Gavin sat on the edge of the pool and waited for her to notice him. He was happy to have run into her. Who better to take his mind off of everything else happening?

Diving underneath the surface, Jordan loved the feel of the warm water on her skin. She couldn't help but smile to herself. It was just so refreshing compared to the icy snow outside. Jordan wished New York wasn't so cold.. she was more used to the warmth back home, though. Seriously, she didn't care for the cold. It was bothersome. She could make it warmer, if she pleased, but why bother? People liked the cold, so, why deprive it of them?

Once Jordan surfaced, she squeaked slightly, surprised to see another person. Especially Gavin. Didn't he sleep more than this, normally? Ah, well, why question this. Jordan smiled and swam toward where he was sitting on the edge. She stayed with her body underwater, putting her arms on the edge of the pool, smiling up at him where he sat. "Gavin! How's it going?" she was ecstatic to see this boy. Gavin was her best friend. But, that's not the only reason she was so happy to see him.

Lately, she's had an inner conflict. While that night they spent together was a drunken accident, Jordan couldn't help but feel something more than friendship for him. While she wasn't about to tell him about this, she compromised with herself. After the accident, she didn't speak with him for a few days. Until she told herself that she could just hang out with him, without telling him how she now felt. It made her automatically just bright when she was around him. Even if she was in a horrid mood. She was sure he noticed, but she hadn't dropped many hints as to explain her strange behavior.

"So.." Jordan began, grinning still as she remained in the water, "Whata're you doing up so early?" she asked lightly, a playful smile on her lips. She couldn't help but be playful around him. He was Gavin, for god's sake.

His legs were immersed in the warm water. It felt good. Much better than the biting cold outside.

Gavin smiled as Jordan swam over. She was his best friend. The one person he could count on for anything. And so much more. Recently his feelings toward her were mixed. After their night together things had bee a bit off. Not in a bad way really. But Gavin had noticed some differences. Like how he admired Jordan's looks. Or the way she talked. Even some things that had annoyed him didn't cause Gavin frustration anymore. There is a word that can sum up all of these feelings. A crush. A major one. And shy little Gavin wouldrather keep it to himself than ever admit it.

Because Jordan had ben acting a little odd too. Some settle things had changed. Sort of like the smile she had on now. What the heck was that about? Gavin had never been one for flirting. It was something that would never interest him. So how was he to know if anything would ever happen between them? Friendship was best. It had to be.

"Benji's snoring. The guy sounds like a bear." Gavin smiled. This wasn't a complete lie. His roommate did snore sometimes. It was wasn't the full truth. "What about you? This place your secret hideout before dawn?" He pushed dark hair from his face. It was then that he noticed he was wearing nothing but a bathing suit. Same with Jordan...Gavin snapped quickly away from looking at her. Goodness, being a teenage did have embarrassing moments.

His momentary slip had caused him to blush. Please don't notice... To cover this up, he splashed her playfully. Just enough to distract her from his mistake. Slowly heslipped in to the water next to her. It was warm and comforting. Gavin's mind was completely gone from his family. They were a world away. All he cared about was being here with Jordan.

"Benji's snoring. The guy sounds like a bear."
"What about you? This place your secret hideout before dawn?"

Jordan giggled slightly to herself, "Well, I guess you could call it that. I wake up early, and can't stand the cold, so, yeah." she shrugged. Her eyes followed him as he looked away quickly from her, after his eyes rested on her bathing suit for a split moment. She wrote it off as a mistake, the ignored how he was blushing afterward the best she could. It made her flush slightly pink, but she ignored the heat now filling her face and grinned once more when he splashed her, giggling once again.

Jordan was face to face with him, her smile faded slightly as she looked at him, not saying anything. She hadn't actually been this close to Gavin in a while, so didn't know what to say. But, quickly, she splashed him back, and laughed. Awkward silences weren't her things, and she always broke the silence with something silly. She made a funny face, and grinned. "I bet you can't catch me, Gavy." she giggled, swimming backwards, waiting for him to take the bait. Her eyes looked as playful as her grin did, and she waited for him to come after her-- if he did. She didn't like the quiet between the two of them-- she might end up saying something she'd regret. Like.. how she felt toward him. "Come on." she urged, giggling again.

Gavin Falls - January 1, 2008 11:05 PM (GMT)
Gavin laughed as Jordan got splashed. It wasn't a rude laugh, just two friends sharing a joke together. When things calmed own to complete silence Gavin noiced how close they were. The two hadn't been this close since...that night. But these thoughts flew from his head as she splashed him.

"I bet you can't catch me, Gavy."

He grinned. If he did follow her what would he do if he caught up?

"Come on."

Not even Gavin could resist her charm. He started after, swimming slowly, a mock devilish grin on hi face. It was fun to just goof off. These occasions were rare. Especially with him and Jordan. Why does growing up have to complicate things? A question to ponder at a later date. For now Gavin swam after his friend. Quietly he started making the sound from Jaws. Du-dum, du-um... Fighting the urge to laugh at the stupidity of it, he swam after Jordan. Pushing off of the wall, he made after her.

Sticking his head inder the water, Gavin reached out his arms. Jordan was only feet away. When he found his target he pulled his head up. "Aha! Got you!" Grinning, he started to tickle her. It was something totally unlike him. But Jordan brought things like this out in him. Even alone in the pool center he felt a bit of unease. He let go. A faint smile played on his lips.

[Sorry for the crappy post. Had to write it fast.]

Jordan Smarte - January 2, 2008 12:26 PM (GMT)
As Gavin came after her, humming the "jaws" theme, she giggled, swimming backwards in a mock-scared manner. "Aha! Got you!" As he reached her, she giggled at being tickled. "Stop!" she giggled, smiling as he did stop. She moved some of the wet, blond hair from her eyes, and grinned.

Her eyes fell to his lips, and she frowned, but smiled again moments later. She swam closer, biting her lip as she looked at him, quirking her head to the side. "Gavsy?" she asked, less than inches from him. Once they met eyes, she did it. She ruined her carefully placed masquerade. All her cards were laid out on the table once her lips met his, and she kissed him.

Her eyes were closed, and after a moment, (though it felt like longer to her) she finally detached her lips from his. "Sorry, Gav." she said, her face still inches from his. She awaited his response, but never broke eye contact. So many thoughts were running through young Jordan's mind. Why did she do that? What was her major malfunction? He probably didn't even like her, yet she was being an ass and just taking a chance. How wonderful! She couldn't even hardly breath as she waited for his response-- what would happen?
