Daničlle Larocque - December 8, 2007 12:42 AM (GMT)
Okay, so it wasn't the norm for Daničlle to be in the cafeteria. It was quite well known that she had a habit for binge eating, especially when she saw foods she liked, so she tended to stay away from food altogether as much as she could. She didn't like feeling fat, and despite the fact that she had a fast metabolism and therefore had a hard time putting on weight, she didn't want to put herself in the risk of feeling like a big blob, as she did at least once a week. You know, hormones.

But today was just one of those days. She was feeling a little moody, and was in need of a little lightening up. Coke was the first thing that came to mind, and even though she knew she should stay away from it (it was extremely bad for her teeth, which already had a bad history) she just couldn't help herself. She loved the feeling of refreshment. She craved it, and even though she could just have water, she wanted something sweeter. She would regret it later, but right now she was enjoying the moment.

She sighed and placed the half empty bottle back onto the clean table. The cafeteria was slightly deserted, as it was only ten o'clock and most people would usually be in bed. Daničlle had never been one for sleeping in. She had tried and tried, but it was another hereditary curse. She couldn't ever seem to sleep past seven o'clock, and even that was pushing it. Late to bed and early to rise. That was her. It always catch up on her too. She hated feeling tired and weighed down. But it was just part of being a Larocque.

She rested her chin upon her elbow. She still had the whole Saturday ahead of her. What was she going to do? It was only morning and she was already bored. Oh how she hated having nothing to do. She rubbed her tired eyes, thinking that maybe it was time to break into the chocolate.

Gabriel Eads - December 10, 2007 02:10 AM (GMT)
It wasn't a very pleasant way to wake up in the morning.

Waking up to find that you had fallen out of bed was never a wonderful thing. No one enjoyed waking up to find they had been stepped on, bruised their head falling off the bed and hitting the ground, and then figuring out someone had kicked them twice before they woke up. It was a good thing, then, that it had not happened to Gabriel Eads. Gabriel was always an early riser, and he had never fallen out of bed. He left that to those that rolled around in their sleep. He mumbled in his sleep, which was different from sleepwalking and kicking. What he said someone could only understand if they leaned in close and had their ear a few inches from his mouth. If he woke up to find you hovering about his face, he'd have your pants dancing around the room in a moment's notice. And he wouldn't reverse it. No.

Gabriel had woken up at four fifty eight that morning. He had always believed he didn't need sleep, or very much of it. He had always woken up at five o'clock in the morning, every morning, for as long as he could remember. Sleeping in to him was sleeping until six o'clock. He didn't like to waste the day, and sleeping in was doing exactly that. He had woken up at about six, and had quickly rose from his bed to leave his dormitory. He didn't have much to do at six in the morning besides eat breakfast. So that was exactly what he did. He headed to the cafeteria. For breakfast, he sat by himself, eating his waffles. He rather liked waffles. With some butter and syrup, they were excellent. With just the waffles, they were pretty damn good.

At around ten o'clock he headed for the cafeteria again, this time to eat lunch. He didn't expect to find anyone he wanted to sit with, and if he did, he doubted he'd sit with them. He was more shy than anything else, and even his friends sometimes had a difficult time getting things out of him. But he had fun around his friends, and talked when they wanted him to talk. Otherwise he would sit and listen. He was an excellent listener. That was how he made friends with Dani Larocque. Or how he thought he had become friends with her. She had taken the time out of her day to find him in the courtyard, sit down and talk with him. It had been a one-sided conversation, but Gabriel had paid attention to almost everything she had said. Some of things she talked about were just completely random. That was something he liked about Dani. A bit of random now and then.

He finally reached the cafeteria, and found it was occupied by several people. Not completely full, but far from empty. He got a tray and picked up a bowl of noodles on his way to a table. Noodles were always good. As he made his way to an empty table near the door, he spotted Ms. Laroque. Strange, as he had just been thinking about her. A small smile appeared on his face as he moved to sit with her. He placed his tray down on the table, and sat down in front of her. "Hey, Dani." Nothing more than what he needed to say. And as of now, all he needed to say was hello.

ooc; sorry this took so long to reply...

Daničlle deliberated. She wanted Toastie Pops, but knew that if she even had a bite she would feel guilty. It wasn't as though she was obsessed with what she ate. No, Daničlle was far from fussy with what she ate, but she still felt bad with feeding her body things it didn't need, and, quite possibly, would damage her later down the track. She was not one to check the nutritional information on every single food product before she ate it. No, she hated the people that did. That was called obsession. But she blamed her father on the fact that she was quite - infatuated was the only word that came to mind - with healthy foods. Being a health nut himself, her father had encouraged her to eat a decent diet of fruit, vegetables and nuts. She didn't usually get sick of it, but here at Aura there was just so much temptation. She sighed.

"Hey, Dani."

Daničlle's head snapped up, and she feigned a shocked expression. "He speaks!" She grinned then and pulled her tray back, making room for Gabriel's tray as he sat opposite her.

Gabriel Eads. What could she say about him. He didn't talk much. Actually, he didn't talk at all. It was always a one-sided conversation whenever she spoke to him. But she didn't mind, because she knew he always listened to her. Despite the fact that he never shared what was on his mind, Gabriel was a guy that was extremely hard to come across. She felt like she could tell him anything and he wouldn't judge her. Mostly, he was good company. And somehow she knew most of his life story, even though he had never really told her much about it. She was good at psychoanalysing people, and she loved a challenge, which is exactly what Gabriel was. The fact that he didn't speak much made her more intrigued to figure him out.

Daničlle shoved the lid back onto her Coke bottle. "It's good to see you, Gabriel," she spoke with a thick French accent. It was actually a wonder anybody understood her, but she tried to make herself as coherent as possible. "I was beginning to think I would be dining alone this morning. People aren't usually up by this time. I just don't understand how they can sleep in when there's so much day ahead of them, so much to do. They are nuts, the lot of them." As was in her nature, she continued to ramble on. She was beyond the point of feeling embarrassed every time she did this. She was aware that Gabriel didn't mind. Otherwise he wouldn't have sat next to her at this moment, right? She smiled.

Well, that got a laugh out of him.

He could admit that he was a very quiet person. He had never been much of a talker, not at all, and he rarely talked with many people unless he needed to. This was not one of those occasions. This was an instance where Gabriel had simply wanted to talk. Not need to, but he had wanted to. Daničlle was a close friend, and it would be rather rude to ignore her when he had the chance to have a conversation. And Gabriel Eads was not a rude person. He tried to be a good guy whenever he could, and his high level of patience probably helped him out. It helped him out with most relationships, at least when it came to the female friends. They always wanted to talk. About what, it didn't matter, they always started talking. Why? None of his male friends talked for no purpose whatsoever, at least none he could think of. That may have been why Gabriel enjoyed sitting with Dani. She always had something to say, regardless of how off topic it was.

So her surprise didn't surprise him, or upset him. Some people just did that. Sarcasm, jokes, all of that. Gabe could put up with it. He enjoyed putting up with it. Her comment did get a laugh out of him, and he stopped his attempt to shove a forkful of noodles into his mouth while he laughed. He managed to stop laughing rather quickly, and shoved the noodles in his mouth. As Daničlle continued talking, his thoughts wandered over to dogs. No, they didn't wander off to thoughts of Dani, or anything else people may suspect them to. Dogs. He had wanted a dog, for a while, but never wanted it enough to actually bug his parents. What would he name it? Well, knowing his sisters they'd name it before he even thought of something. Something stupid too. Some name from some sort of mythology. Gabe loved mythology, but he didn't like the names being used outside of it. It was two thousand and seven. A thousand and some years ago, those names would have been fine. Today... well, the names were different at least. Breaking from the norm. John, Jacob, Bob, those were rather boring overused names. Names like 'Adrastos' or 'Eunomia' were a bit out of date, but much more interesting.

Gabriel still paid attention to what she was saying, about dining alone and people not being up at this time. It was ten o'clock in the morning. Everyone should have been up. Over time Gabriel had gotten used to Dani's accent, which was wonderful when she was talking with someone else who couldn't understand what she was saying while he could. It was rather thick. Well, you knew she was French. And if you didn't... poor you. He shoved another forkful of noodles into his mouth, chewing slowly. He liked to enjoy the taste of the food in large quantities. In other words, shove a bit too much in his mouth, chew slowly, and then swallow. Not shove some in his mouth and swallow. You don't skip that second step. If you do, you miss the entire point of eating and tasting food. If you just shove it in so you don't die of hunger, why have taste buds? "I've never managed to sleep past six in the morning." Add a little more to that, Gabe? Would you kindly? "Woke up at about five this morning."
