Title: A Typical, Unwanted Disaster
Description: for romeo;

Alice Black - December 3, 2007 02:02 AM (GMT)
Alice rushed through the hallways, her outfit ruffled and hanging some on her frame. She was late to class, again. Well, it wasn't her fault. Students could sometimes get a bit... overexcited. Of course, by now, word had gotten out that Alice was in charge of the Winter Ball. And, of course, as always, the person in charge was expected to meet the demands of the students. However, it was quite tough fulfilling hundreds of wishes, and most of them were actually irrelevant. So, when Alice had left class, she had been overwhelmed with dozens of students crowding around her, asking her about the activities that would be held and if she could add this or that. Sighing to herself, Alice brought out a notepad and took a pencil, which was hiding away behind her ear. 'Note to self: Avoid questions about the ball at all costs. Start planning tonight.' Alice wrote quickly in her neat, cursive-like handwriting. After writing a few more things down, Alice slipped the pencil back to its hiding place and threw the notebook into her backpack.

Walking down the hallways was really awkward for her. At least at this moment it was. Because, well, there was no one besides her here, and it truly felt like a ghost town. Kind of creepy, actually. But Alice knew that she could not; no, was not alone. You were never alone at Aura. Rebels often skipped classes, and if you, too, had decided to skip a class, you would usually find a rebel wandering the hallways. Or a group of them. Or, even worse, a rebel running away from trouble. And if you looked guilty, you were charged guilty. Often times, before Alice had become a majestic, in her first part of the year, she was caught skipping. And she was the one blamed for some crimes that she had not even committed. But, she didn't really care. That had happened two years ago. To her, that was a very, very long time ago. Two years ago, she was almost a whole different person. Wait, she was...

Alice hoped; wished hard, that she wouldn't see one particular person wandering, or doing whatever, in the hallways that she was walking in now. That person was none other than Romeo Fuller. She had avoided him for a while now, but how long till her luck would run out? Surely, not long. Hopefully, though, it would last. Alice remembered the moment when she had met Romeo. He had kissed her. And she had been so annoyed. Of course, that hadn't been her first kiss or whatever, (and there was no tongue, thank goodness), but it had still aggravated her a bunch. She had been so surprised, the situation turned out to be a run and hide type of problem. And from then on, that's how it had continued. Hide and run. Actually, Alice had seen Romeo a couple times in the hallways. Wandering, seeking, or in a group of friends. Or just chatting with someone. And each time she had escaped. Wholly, safely. Could that last? Alice wished it could.

What did she have now? Oh, yes, it was... science. Chemicals, oh fun, how fun. The teacher she had barely did anything but talk about things she half-understood. In elementary, she remembered, science had been experiments and fun trials. Now all it was was a complication to her schedule. No fun whatsoever. Just made her day more miserable than in was. But, she would show up anyways. She didn't have a bad grade in science, (it was actually an A), but she still wouldn't skip. Not today, at least. She just didn't want to bump into something. Or someone. Luckily, though, before entering the confusion of her science class, Alice had a few more peaceful minutes to herself. Her science classroom was a couple hallways to the left, two staircases up and a turn to the right. Too bad that her peace wasn't going to last long.

Romeo Fuller - December 3, 2007 05:00 AM (GMT)

Some kid with a Mohawk – most likely a rebel or a nobody – slid a pack of unlabeled cigarettes into Romeo’s hand. The two exchanged a few words, and the kid was off towards some random direction. Stretched up against the support of a handrail that guided up the side of a stairwell, Romeo’s eyes traced after the figures of fellow students and peers as they hurried their ways to their classes. An amused expression etched over his features – a smirk, entertained in detail. Some clumsily made their way through doors; it was loud, friends shouting farewells over the chatter of several dozen girls and boys, the sound of scuffing shoes against the linoleum tiling of the hallway. Slipping the cigarette pack into his right bum pocket, Romeo sighed, not remembering what his next class was – it didn’t matter, anyway. He gave up attending them some time ago. School meant little to him – as long as his parents were paying off the debts on his plastic cards and as long as they were throwing their money towards his direction, he was a content young man – not exactly satisfied; nothing truly seemed to be ‘enough’ for Romeo Alexander Fuller.

The hallway grew quiet quickly. Romeo was just about to leave when he heard someone approaching his direction; at first, he did not recognize her... after a momentary squinting of the eyes, the lines of her body and the color of her hair became familiar enough.

“Well, hell-low there, angel eyes,” he grinned, slowly pushing himself off the weight of one leg and making a casual, unhurried approach towards her direction – he figured if she was going to ‘run’ again, she’d have to turn around and go the other way... in which, he would end up responding with a hysterical laugh. His movements were lazy and liquid – languid, much like a panther slowly coming up onto its prey... Alice would be safe though; Romeo wasn’t going to bite... not unless she wanted him to, of course. The sophomore doubted that was going to happen any time soon, Alice didn’t seem the type to like biting. Regardless, he continued to step forward, a thumb casually tucked into each of his front pockets. She had been avoiding him; he could tell by the way she’d glance his way in the hall sometime over the past few days and pretend to not see him. She was careful not to be alone, not to wander where he was found most often... of course, it was inevitable that they would make some encounter once more. He knew exactly what was crossing her mind as she registered who exactly was coming her way.

“Miss Black, I’m afraid you left rather abruptly our last encounter; I didn’t have a chance to apologize – you see, I happened to fall on your beautiful lips.”

The sophomore spoke with a graceful ease, almost as if each word had been practiced to such an extent that it was natural to him. A ‘smooth talker,’ the words seemed to roll effortlessly off his tongue and hold a teasing, playful tone. Of course, if he had been oblivious to Alice’s attempts of avoiding him, he could have been perceived as flirting; he knew, however, that Alice would only grow more irritated. After all, he could literally feel her burning loathing towards him. People had said she wasn’t too happy about their first ‘encounter.’ Romeo himself didn’t even completely remember what drove him to kiss Alice Black – maybe it was a spur-of-the-moment sort of thing. Maybe he was just fucking insane that day. Whatever the reason, word of it had spread through the school amongst his friends... as a sort of accomplishment, one could say. Rumors were difficult to depend on; Romeo could tell she wasn’t the sort to sleep around and distribute herself freely. He had a wild guess in his mind that she was still a virgin – just a thought, anyway. It made him feel somewhat special to kiss the unobtainable Miss Alice Black.

“Aw, c’mon, you don’t have to keep lying to me, princess. I know that you liked it. Just say ittttttttt. Please?”

His grin did not fade the slightest.

Alice Black - December 3, 2007 10:29 AM (GMT)
Alice froze, her movements ceasing to exist. "Damn," She muttered, staring straight at Romeo, but still trying to divert her gaze at the same time. Why today, of all days? God, she must have jinxed herself by thinking of him. She should have transformed into someone else temporarily - at least that would've kept her from meeting him. But maybe he would've recognized her. No, nobody, except her friends, could recognize Alice when she was transformed. And in no way was Romeo Fuller ever going to be her friend. At least, not as long as he had that cocky attitude and went around kissing girls for whatever reason see fit. Alice, despite herself, wondered if he was dating. She stifled a cold laugh. Yeah right. Like this guy could ever settle on one girl alone. And if he did date - wouldn't he just see that as a fling and go around having sex with other girls, despite dating? Well, a lot of people did that, but still... Romeo saw girls as eyecandy, and that's pretty much it. Nothing more, nothing less. And Alice, thinking this, was not at all disturbed. Which was actually pretty weird.

Alice rolled her eyes at his greeting, her grip stiffening on her backpack. She listened to his slow, languid tone of voice, as he slowly approached her. Oh, right, so now he had "fallen" on top of her and just happened to kiss her? God, what a fucked up lie. She stared at him with hatred in her gaze. "Listen to yourself. Why bother with me? There's hundreds of girls in this school; plenty of eyecandy for you. And they'd all probably fall head over heels for you, only to have a broken heart one week later," Alice paused, giving a thought. "Of course, that's high school for you. Endless piles of drama and sex. Do you think I'm really that oblivious to it all?" Alice was not oblivious in any way whatsoever. She knew everything about Aura, she knew everybody, too. Not by heart, but she did know the majority of the student body by face alone. Of course, other people she knew more about. For example, Romeo and Evander. And her friends, too, which was to be expected. But who would ever think that you would also pay close attention to you enemies? Well, it's as the phrase said, "Keep your friends close but keep your enemies even closer." Is that how it went? Well, no matter, Romeo and Evander weren't really her enemies, but Evander had something against her and Alice, (not knowing if Romeo felt the same way), had felt something against him.

Anyway, getting back on topic, Alice was not oblivious in any which way. She knew the hidden war and the hate that passed around in the cliques pretty well. Hell, she was apart of it. She knew the drama, the break-ups, the crying: she saw it all. It was sad, but every single day, you could see at least one girl crying from a break-up in the bathroom stalls. Of course, Alice had never been rejected by a boy, but it's not that she had dated that many. Well, at least at the moment she didn't date at all. She had two, (or was it three?), boyfriends before she had come to Aura, and a couple others throughout her years at Aura. However, she had been free so far in her junior year. Of course, guys had asked her out, but why would she say yes to someone she barely knew? Back on topic: sex. Yeah, Allie was a virgin. Why was that so wrong? So, yeah, she had gotten into a few close encounters, but it had always been a rejection from her. She just, well, didn't want to have sex yet.

Alice smiled, trying to fake happiness. For the first, she had to fake it. And it came with difficulty, too, because her smile did not reach her eyes. And her smile was cold, more of the loathing type. "Dream on," She simply stated, looking down at her watch. Oh, well. She was late already. And, anyway, this could get interesting. But, Alice knew that she had felt some type of attraction towards Romeo. She didn't want to, but then again, she couldn't control who she was and was not attracted to. But it was stupid. Even if she did like Romeo, he would only see her as fling, and nothing more. So what was the point of getting your heart broken, when you already knew it beforehand? But, the good thing, her attraction was merely an attraction, and nothing more. Hopefully.

Romeo Fuller - December 6, 2007 12:50 AM (GMT)

He didn’t seem to care the least for her reaction – as he felt her blistering with foul hate, Romeo’s smirk only proceeded to widen. “Oh, and I will,” he grinned, now walking in sync beside Alice. ”How could I not dream of that silk-light hair and penetrating gaze?” He fought the urge to pick her up about the knees and sit her on his shoulder; Romeo figured actually touching her again would bring about unwanted conflict. The sophomore decided to leave the teasing and amusement to a harmless, verbal level. Those that were comfortable around him, he found himself at ease with – he never hesitated playing with girls' hair, biting necks, slapping firm asses, grazing his fingers along round breasts... though he was never really serious in his advances, Romeo could easily see where people would assume he was not a reliable choice for a ‘significant other.’ Romeo's reputation often preceded him; as a boy of much trouble and drama, he was often in the thick of the stuff high school was made of. Sex, parties, and relationships – in fact, he vaguely remembered the last girl he had dated. She had been some cheerleader, most likely a blonde (for some reason he preferred longer, lighter hair on women). Oftentimes, he would find himself growing bored or an interest would spark with another girl.

Romeo was simply careless. His shoulder bumped hers as a misplaced step brought him slightly closer; he didn’t seem to notice it and he resumed to walk with some distance between them. “Oh, no, baby, I don’t believe you’re oblivious whatsoever,” he answered her question from before. “I really do honestly believe you know what you’re doing.” He took a larger step and suddenly swung in front of her, cutting her line of path. Romeo stood before her, his chin tilted slightly so his blue eyes fell onto her shorter frame, onto the soft curves of her face. “You do know what you’re doing, don’t you?” Calloused fingertips gently closed about her elbow; she could pull away effortlessly whenever she so desired. Romeo leaned forward, ever slightly, his mouth falling closer to her own –

He paused for a moment.

“Perhaps,” the word was a soft breath of a whisper and warmth on her face; it was flavorless, save for the faintest hint of mint. Romeo’s voice was low, husky and golden in quality with a masculinity that tinted his words with a subtle trace of seriousness... however, it was always difficult to tell what exactly was his intent. “Perhaps, since you are the Queen of Aura, after all. It is your job to know what you’re doing, to know everything. It’s what keeps you on top. It’s what makes you different from all of the other girls.” His grin faded into a more sincere line; a smile, stretched across his thin lips. “But perhaps, there is the slightest chance that you do not know.” The spell of the moment was quickly broken; he took a daring step away and tucked each of his thumbs into both front pockets. He shrugged, and it was as if in that sudden moment Romeo had resumed to his former, flirtatious, vivacious self. He continued walking, assuming that Alice would do the same since this was the direction she was heading in the first place.

“Endless piles of sex, eh?” He chuckled, glancing towards her in the corner of his eyes, to see if she would grow uncomfortable by the sudden change of subject. “Now what does Miss Alice Black know of sex?” Romeo’s mouth cocked into a sideward grin – he decided to take a stab at his curiosities and questions... for some clarification. “Last I heard, you were a virgin – last I heard, Miss Alice Black was not interested the least in sexual intercourse...” Though his words to follow seemed so, his tone did not become defensive. “And on what ground do you assume the subject on me? You believe I am a player, I’m guessing. Rumors? Then, you must have heard of how amazing I am at pleasuring a woman.”

Alice Black - December 6, 2007 01:17 AM (GMT)
Alice's breath caught. She couldn't help it. God, she couldn't deny it, either. She did feel attraction t-to this player... No, no, no. She couldn't. Alice gather her emotions and resumed her calm composure, ready to push Romeo away at any moment. And then he hesitated. And then the moment was gone. As fast as it had come, it had gone. And Alice felt a bit of regret. Perhaps, she would've liked him to have taken that step forward and have kissed her. Perhaps she would've allowed him. Perhaps she would have let him even go farther than just kissing. But those sentences and phrases of thought all started with perhaps, and they would probably never come to life. After all, the moment had been broken. It had disappeared into thin air, as a rainbow appeared on a sunny day with rainfall. And Alice couldn't help but imagine the previous encounter; his lips colliding against hers... No, no, no. She wouldn't think about that moment. She wouldn't think about her hesitation, both this time and the last time. She wouldn't think about her desire to do the opposite of what she had acted out. Oops, too late.

After their moment was over, he seemed to contemplate whether she did or did not know what she was doing. She simply smirked and said, "I'm not as innocent as I appear to be." It was true. Alice Black, no matter how peppy and positive, was not in the least bit innocent. She might have appeared to be, but in truth, she wasn't. She smiled, remembering back to the April nearing her fourteenth birthday. She had been caught making out with a boyfriend of hers, oh, how her father had gotten pissed. At the time she thought it was a bit amusing. Alice suddenly realized that the skin she wore was completely different from who she really was. For example, on the outside she appeared to be a cute, peppy, innocent girl. But on the inside... what really was on the inside? The same girl, yet more mature and experienced, and even more... aggressive? Perhaps. Alice didn't really know; nor did she care. She was both like a child and an adult, combined in one person. Both inside and outside. That's what she would settle on. She was not yet an adult, yet she was not a child anymore. Far from it, actually.

Alice sighed. "Sex. Well, yeah, I'm not interested in it. And not that you need to know, but I do happen to be a virgin," Alice paused, thinking about her previous encounters. "Of course, that doesn't mean I haven't had plenty of chances to loose my virginity. Ha, more than plenty. Close encounters seem to happen... quite a lot. At least to me." Alice paused once more, and as she did, if one observed her eyes lightly, they would be able to tell that a mischievous spark had appeared in her eye. "Oh, and I've heard plenty about you. Although, sometimes it hard to tell what's fact and what's fiction. That's true, though, I have heard plenty about you being a player." Alice stopped abruptly, suddenly realizing that she was matching his pace perfectly, walking alongside him as if she was his partner or something. When had she started walking? And was that her classroom door she had just passed? Ah, well. She was hath an hour late anyway. And it was a regular class. Regular classes didn't really matter.

"Ha, don't think too highly of yourself. You're a sophomore; sixteen... yet you act like you've experienced it all. Just watch out, because you haven't. Trust me," She paused, thinking for a second. "Of course, because of my wanting to not give up my virginity, I don't much on that subject. Well, not from myself, anyways. But, I know a lot of things about the subject, anyway. And, just wait for it, even if you are a player, and I'm saying are because you probably are but you still can't trust rumors, you'll still fall in love one day. Truly in love. And that girl just might... end up breaking you heart. And then you'll be the one in the dumps." Alice, herself, had never been dumped, as mentioned previously. But she still felt sympathy for those who did get dumped, and she knew a lot about the subject. The depression, the hidden feelings... the desire for a new subject to fill his/her desires. She was not oblivious to any of it; in fact, she knew it all quite well.

"Isn't this funny? I'm walking alongside you, and I'm actually okay with it..." She smiled, for the first time in Romeo's presence. And it was a real smile. Not a fake one.

Romeo Fuller - December 6, 2007 02:17 AM (GMT)

“Not as innocent as you seem? Oh, really now?” He laughed – not at her statement, but at how easy the atmosphere had become around them. Romeo had to admit... it was rather ironic. “If you really did believe I did not need to know, you would not have clarified the rumor, so you must think it is necessary for me to know? That you are a virgin,” Romeo’s grin only grew wider. “And why would you want me to know this sliver of information, Miss Black? Are you hoping that we might elope some time?” He chuckled and refrained himself from moving her hair away from her throat and over her shoulder. Romeo had not realized how terribly awkward it was for him to stand beside Alice, despite the fact he was usually comfortable around women. Something inside of him urged him to stop – something inside of him urged him to leave.

But I can’t. I have you in the cage of my fingers.

Romeo momentarily thought of Alice trapped in the palm of his hand, her little body transformed into a winged abdomen and tiny legs, her head juxtaposed onto the form of butterfly. When he remembered that butterfly wings often lost the ability to fly due to the natural oils produced by human hands, he dismissed the thought and wondered why such a thing had crossed his mind. Romeo came to the sudden awareness that he was uncomfortable. Despite the debonair, smooth quality about him, the way he had casually slung an arm around her waist seemed natural – he had done it out of conscience and just then realized he was touching her. The sophomore flinched slightly, then after an awkward moment, removed his grasp around the small of her back. He grew quiet, and when she spoke up once more, Romeo seemed to relax. “Close encounters? Well, I haven’t heard of any survivors from your past relationships... are you afraid of sex, Alice Black? Are you afraid you might like to too much?” Romeo couldn’t suppress his laugh, his half-hearted attempt made it sound like a deep chuckle.

“You’d be surprised at what I’ve experienced.” He laughed heartily. “I have had my fair share of heartbreak, Miss Black. I have, perhaps, felt love once – perhaps twice. Love – true love, genuine love – can take in many shapes and forms, do you not agree?” His questions held a rhetorical edge to them. Romeo did not pause for long; he was seeking no answer. “Well, whatever.” The finality of the conversation at hand was followed by her sudden stopping in the middle of the hallway. A brow arched with question, then, as if not really caring at what she was doing, he continued walking, assuming she would continue alongside him.

He did not say anything in response to her last comment. His blue eyes flickered down to the cadence of their walk, the perfect fall of both their steps... and he smiled. Faintly. Inside, Romeo could feel his gut turning – he sensed some attraction or subtle ease in her voice, just the way it rolled off her tongue... and yet, he could not find anything softening from her words. He knew they could become friends. He knew that perhaps, he might actually have a shot at ‘love’ with Alice Black. But it was wrong. It was not him. Romeo suddenly felt a pang of guilt, walking beside her now, in the emptiness and quiet of the hallway. He had not realized how so alone they had been for so long. The sophomore’s eyes rose to the nearest clock, posted on the wall – had it already been forty minutes? Their stride had slowed, together; he could tell Alice was no longer in a hurry to class. “Yes, it is very funny,” Romeo responded, somewhat quietly, after a long silence. He furrowed his brows slightly together, his eyes still on their shoes.

“Why are you so lovely?”

Alice Black - December 6, 2007 02:46 AM (GMT)
"Eh," Is Alice had to say to virgin ordeal, accompanied with a shrug of the shoulders. "Ha-ha, very funny," Alice said sarcastically, throwing a look towards Romeo's direction. That wasn't her intention at all. Or was it...? No, no. Of course it wasn't. Glancing at the clock, Alice realized that it had already been forty minutes. Well, it didn't matter to her. She still had an hour and twenty minutes to waste; besides, she didn't want to go back to class. If she did, the teacher would give her a lecture about coming late and would question her on what she had been doing. Majestic or not, all teachers had to do the same type of "ritual" to all students; no matter their clique. And, truthfully speaking, of course, Alice disliked the teachers' little rituals. Even if you were ten minutes late, because, well, you went to the bathroom and chatted with a couple of friends, the teacher would question you as if you had committed murder. And looking at some kids at Aura, you would think just that.

Alice stiffened. "Yes, close encounters," She paused, and the aura around them became clouded with remembrance of the past. And some of those memories, well, were just not good ones or lacked happiness. Most of them had a tinge of sadness; break-ups; angry words... "I don't want to talk about them. At least, not some of them," Alice managed to say after a few moments, closing the subject quickly. She could feel the somewhat obvious awkwardness between them... they had only met, what was it, a week or two ago? And yes, now she would admit it, she had a physical attraction towards him. The irresistible urge to stroke someone's cheek; to hug them; to sling your arm around their waist; to even go as far as kissing them subconsciously... Speaking of desire, Alice had just briefly noticed the touch of Romeo's hand around her waist. However, it only lasted for a second and then was gone. She dismissed the previous thought all together.

"Oh, so you've had your heart broken before?" Alice asked, her interest showing. Realizing how much her attentiveness in the matter was showing, and trying not to offend him, she added, "It's just... I wouldn't think of you as the type. I always imagined... people like you being the ones who do the heartbreaking. Sorry." Thoughtfully putting a finger to her chin, she let brain waves coarse through her brain. "But, anyway, it's weird, 'cause I've never been heartbroken... Always the heartbreaker." As she said this, she seemed to become a little sorrowful. "I'm glad that we, students, don't have to date, because, truthfully, it's such a headache sometimes. At the beginning, most girls think that he's "the one." And then, BAM! "they" are gone and it's once again "him" and "her." In most situations, as quickly as the relationship comes; it goes. But the feelings still remain. Which is weird, actually. Ha, that reminds me of crazy, stalking girlfriends who are mad at their boyfriends for breaking up with them. Though that rarely happens in real life."

Alice sighed, and then was caught off guard by Romeo's next statement. No, not statement, but a question. She looked up. "W-what?" She stammered. She couldn't help herself. "Stop kidding, there. I thought a second ago you were approaching me like a panther does to its prey. Which I think I found rather amusing," Alice paused, her heart fluttering in her chest. Hopefully, it was not what she thought it was. Dismissing the statement and her obvious, rapid heartbeat, she quickly caught up with him, because seconds ago she had been momentarily petrified at the rather out-of-no where question/statement. Her pace matched Romeo's perfectly.

"Don't you hate when you have feelings for the wrong person? It always turn out so badly..." Alice twirled her hair onto a finger, thinking of another experience, which was undoubtedly like the one she had just described.
