| Arabella Margaret Wickham had attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for four years now. Now, she was beginning her fifth year, with which entailed OWL exams. Yay. She wasn't stupid, so she thought that if she studied she would be fine in everything except possibly History of Magic and Divination. Why she continued on with both subjects was a total mystery, seeing as History of Magic was probably the dullest class known to mankind, and Divination was just plain hogwash. Whatever. At least she wouldn't be subjected to NEWTs in either subject after she failed her OWLS. Luckily, the girl was decent enough at all other aspects of magic, so things would probably be fine. It was sunset, and Ari was just going back to her common room after practicing some Quidditch. Tryouts were drawing closer, and even though she had been practicing literally all summer, playing on the Hogwarts pitch would be good practice again. Over the summer, she had practiced loads with her brothers in a field nearby their mother's house. While they were with their dad, there hadn't been anywhere to practice, so the siblings had trekked out to the field every couple of days to play. One could say that the Wickham kids were all obsessed with Quidditch, and it was too true. Thinking of the summer lowered her spirits a bit. When she was at Hogwarts, she was generally quite amiable, yet thinking of home tended to make her miserable. It just reminded her of the constant Howlers and the hostile comments between both parents at all times, and the lectures on how one parent was right, and the bribing. She shook her head slightly as she turned a corner. Thinking of that stuff at school was just a recipe for disaster, so she tried to clear her head. Her eyes adjusted to the light in the hallway she had just entered. There were many windows on the west side of the hall, so the sunlight streamed in and refracted against the suits of armor lined against the east wall. She blinked and squinted as she meandered down the corridor. Ari didn't really care if she was late, and she still had lots of time, so she might as well appreciate the castle. She was pretty sure this was the right way ... It was hard to tell at Hogwarts. On her left, there was a blue and gold woven tapestry that Ari didn't recognize. She squinted. Surely it hadn't been there before? Slowly, she stepped closer to it and stretched her long fingers out to touch it. It was rough, but the images were quite pretty. However, when she touched it, there was a sharp creak from behind the hanging. With precision, she reached over to the edge and drew it back. There was a door! She surely hadn't seen this before. Ari liked to sneak around and discover new things, but this was new. The door was already slightly ajar, and she curiously pushed it open even more before darting through and letting the tapestry unfold over the hidden portal again... |
