Title: Nintendo DS

Sparrow - January 25, 2006 07:01 PM (GMT)
shall i get one then? what are the pro's n cons kiddies?

Sarghm - January 25, 2006 07:16 PM (GMT)
Lmao, I thought this might arise!

Well, in my opinion, it's better than the PSP (Big GASP). I love it because of the multiplayer capability, and it's portable. Animal Crossing:Wild World is beginning to consume my life. It's also great fun at parties too!

However, if you're not into...cartoony kind of games, then you won't be one for the DS. I can't really think of any more cons. :S

Sparrow - January 25, 2006 07:58 PM (GMT)
well, i wanted one because:
  • fun at parties (as u said)
  • mario cart just was like, WOW!
  • nintendogs lokos like a bigger version of tamagotchies, so thats cool
  • i can playt with quig, hughesy, mike and the others in boring science classes
  • picto chat. (or however you spell it!) :P

however, the cons:
  • i'll be a "newb"
  • the cost (how much is it btw?) inc games
  • when we leave school (in like, 3-4 months) i wont use it as much
  • it'll probibly just a fad which i get hooked into :(

Sarghm - January 25, 2006 08:30 PM (GMT)
I do agree with the cons, you can get bored of some games.

I haven't played MK so I can't put any opinion across on it - I really want it but am saving at the moment.

I wouldn't buy Nintendogs now though, it really isn't as good as we all thought it would be. The DS's themselves cost £80 - £90 I think, with about £30 per game. I'm really badly hooked onto Animal Crossing, as I said, it's really not healthy. But like AC, Mario Kart has lots of replay value, and can be played over and over again at like parties, which I hope we will all organise as a get together during collegetimes.

I am an 'other' however in Science, I'll play. Yay me.

Personally I'm all for it. Good idea in my opinion :)

Buttmunch - January 25, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
There good if you got nothing else to do, if you find sumamt else to do, that 'to do' will take over. however Warioware touched is ace and always fun. So i'd get one for the pros you said. but you will probably get bored of it sooner or later.

Flibbo - January 25, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
I love my ds, it may be because im a big gamer or just because its fun, i son't know. All i know is that its one of the best investments i've ever made.

If you do, i would strongly suggest getting Animal Crossing: Wild World. I can really see you enjoying it. As for whether or not its a good idea because you are leaving school in a bit, You are still going to sixthform and quite a few people (ME!) are gonna have them there.

I dunno, it's all about how you feel.

Teh Fly - January 25, 2006 10:06 PM (GMT)
It depends on how much of a gamer you think you're going to be. If you are not sure, check places like Ebay for cheaper DS's although be aware of where the DS comes from, they may be Wi-Fi problems if you get an American DS, for example.

There are no Wi-Fi or game compatability problems with teh American versions at all. Mike, Ritch and steve have American DS'

wow flib, i didnt know you where going to 6th form :o
so yeh, i was thinking of buying from argos
£90 - ds, "starter kit", plus nintendogs
and then i will defo buy mario kart, and possibly AC

any tips/hint/advice?

Sarghm - January 26, 2006 06:14 PM (GMT)
You should definitely get AC! It's fantastic! It's a game you have to play, it's difficult to describe - the concept of the game suggests it should be really boring, but it is awesome fun. Also, in town tomorrow, I'm buying Mario Kart, so I'll be a n00b with you :)

Teh Fly - January 26, 2006 10:34 PM (GMT)
I really don't see the point in AC, but, my Devil May Cry obsession only started when I bought DMC along with another game to complete a 2 for £20 deal.

I no longer recall the name of that game.

Sparrow - January 28, 2006 05:02 PM (GMT)
I AM NOW PART OF THE CLUB!!

for £70 from argos, i got a ds, mario kart, and the essentials kit.

Sarghm - January 28, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
£70?!! Whoa!! Online or at the shop?

I've just come back briefly to get stuff sorted from Eddie's party. DS's are cool :)

Sparrow - January 28, 2006 08:15 PM (GMT)
at the shop ;)

oh hannah, you rock xxx

Teh Fly - January 29, 2006 12:28 AM (GMT)
Did you just...kiss...yourself?

Sparrow - January 29, 2006 12:43 AM (GMT)
i could have ;)

so yeh, with mario kart, i'm having a prob trying to connect to my wireless internet. any hints n tips?

Sarghm - January 29, 2006 12:55 PM (GMT)
Right, I am too, it could be various things

You've set it up in the Settings, right? Did it detect your wireless network?

If it didn't, you might have an unsupported router. Go to http://www.nintendowifi.co.uk/customersupp...SupportHome.jsp and see if there's anything that will help there :)

Sparrow - February 1, 2006 05:20 PM (GMT)
weyl, after doing numerous things and test, AND talking to this sound guy called paul, we have discovered that my wireless modem thang is too old, thus not compatable with ds's.

lame!

Buttmunch - February 1, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)

Sarghm - February 1, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)

Teh Fly - February 1, 2006 05:44 PM (GMT)
Why was this closed? I thought we agreed a long time ago to at least say why and own up to closing a topic.

Oh, whats that? New router in my room? Cancer? Probably.

My router probably gives me cancer, but i love it too much to care.
Then again what doesn't give you cancer these days?

Sarghm - February 2, 2006 07:11 PM (GMT)
Ordered my WiFi Max ^_^ :) Should arrive Saturday apparently.

 I was thinking that the other day.

"This food is rumoured to increase your risk of getting cancer"
"This mobile phone is scientifically proven to increase the chance of developing cancerous tumors"
"Inhaling and exhaling in a respitory manner can seriously increase the chance that you will live long enough to develop cancer"

No wonder so many people die of it, it's everywhere

Haha, this made me lol.

What are people's friend codes? I'm interested so I can start adding people to friends list for when I get the WiFi thing.

Flibbo - February 2, 2006 11:08 PM (GMT)
go to mike's site

Sparrow - February 4, 2006 07:56 PM (GMT)
who has animal crossing here and what is it like?

Sarghm - February 5, 2006 08:42 AM (GMT)
I have Animal Crossing. I think it's awesome because you have to wait til you can do certain things, and I think that's what makes it a real gem. I had my doubts prior to buying it but I'm really glad I did. Multiplayer is loads of fun too :)

Flibbo - February 5, 2006 10:57 AM (GMT)
i have it, it's brilliant. Definitly one of my favorite ever games. If you want, i'll bring my ds in and you can have a little go on my copy.

Sarghm - February 5, 2006 11:51 AM (GMT)
It's odd though because the game SHOULD be boring, but it isn't :) There's always something to do.
