Title: Annoying Bug

vins84 - June 21, 2008 02:16 PM (GMT)
A little but annoying bug
Scenario:
-Wait! My roasted cow cuts are spoiled, i'm going to throw them in the water.
'Press t"
"Select spoiled roasted cow cuts"
Spoiled roasted cow cut selected as a secondary weapon
Aborted
-Grmbl
"Press t"
Items wielded:
[1] Woodman's axe
[2] Spoiled roasted cow cut
"Press 2"
"throw it"

EDIT:
If i unwield the woodman's axe it don't tell me "aborted"

agreed. You ever try to chuck a whole carcass of fox cuts into a bog because you think it makes the gods happy? It's not fun right now! I think it takes me minimum 5 key presses to throw something that's not wielded (not including using the cursor keys or letter keys to select the item!) because the throw is always aborted the first time, so a 7 cut fox will hold me up for a good minute and a half.

p.s. don't bother telling me throwing dead foxes into the bog doesn't make any difference I want the spirits to enjoy it! Plus I just don't eat foxes, too gamey.

two ways around this:
1) drop the stack and use (m)ove
2) empty both hands before throwing, then you don't get the "aborted" spam

Those two workarounds are good but aren't quite enough. Emptying your hands does work fine but of course it's almost as annoying as having to hit throw twice, more so for anyone who carries a weapon (I'm guessing nearly everyone) or in winter when most at bare minimum are wielding a ski stick most of the time. It is useful though for when you need to throw a lot of items and you suppose you're in a pretty safe area.

As for 'moving' the stack it doesn't work in bogs, the items don't sink but stay at the surface of the water where they can be picked up again. I'm guessing that though the gods are omnipotent they can't make much use of mysteriously floating metal weapons and fox meat.
