Title: Drying Rack

Imnotbill - April 24, 2008 12:49 PM (GMT)
Since my newest remilainen is a cave dweller and civilisation is extremley far away and in a unknown area, I'm bretty much stuck with my cave in the breeze as I wanted to dry some huge ammount of meat since it stores longer.

The cooking command for drying mentions a drying rack, I couldnt find a constructable one and was wondering if this is possible or just something unimplemented?

Try building one piece of wall outside your cave and use it for meat drying.

That worked beautifully.

Buuuuuuut, always a but, now the game registers my deconstructed wall as still a setteld area, so on the unzoomed map I've got a house right next to the cave.
But hell - I've got 300 dried meats now, and it saved me from starvation, so I'm happy.

Well it is a settled area :)

Sounds like another bug to report here.

I think he means that it was a settled area, but he deconstructed it to remove the settled area tag, so it is no longer a settled area. Sounds to me like it's working as designed.

No, as he said, he deconstructed the wall and the game still thinks it's a settled area even though there are no buildings there any more.

Of course, that's been a bug/unimplemented feature for everything in the whole game. You can chop an entire forest down in the zoom map and not notice any difference on the region map.

Oh, woops. Guess I misread it, I just looked at the WAS a settled area and assumed it had fixed itself.

Strange, I've had several times where I built a wall and later tore it down and had the settled thing removed. I was removing it pretty quick though, maybe if you leave it for a while it becomes permanent?

Imnotbill - April 27, 2008 06:32 PM (GMT)
Perhaps.
I left it there for 16 days or whatever the time for drying is.
Deconstruction is a still a great feature though
