Title: Death Note
Description: Begins 10/3 (I believe)

Kaori - September 29, 2006 05:33 AM (GMT)
Death Note: The Animation. We all love the manga. We are dying to see the movie(for all of us who haven't, it was good. I swear!) and we finally get an anime.

The opening and ending are done by the group Nightmare. They remind me of Gazette for some odd reason.

Plot summary from Anime News Network:
Light Yagami (Or Raito) is an ace student with great aspects who's bored out of his mind. One day he finds the Death Note a notebook held by a shinigami (Death God). with the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create a perfect world. A world without crime or criminals. However when criminals start dropping dead one by one, the authorites send the legendary detective L to track down the killer.

Voice Actors/Actresses:
Kappei Yamaguchi as L (Ryuichi Sakuma-Gravitation, Inuyasha-Inuyasha, Subaru-Tokyo Babylon) O_O Well, I expect a Subaru-type voice then....Ryu?! XD
Aya Hirano as Misa Amane (Reira-NANA, Haruhi Suzumiya-The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) No idea. I haven't been keeping track of Nana for a while, but since she's been the main character of several series, I expect good things from her.
Shidou Nakamura as Ryuuku Basically, he did a voice in One Piece and was also the voice of Ryuk in the live action movie. I like his voice. It'll be fine.
Mamoru Miyano as Light Yagami I left Mamo-chan last for a reason. I have the most to talk about for him. He's been Kiba from Wolf's Rain, Riku for the Kingdom Hearts series, and he has also done the happy-go-lucky Suou Tamaki of Ouran High School Host Club. he's an adorable personality and I'm happy he's doing this series. May I mentioned that getting cast as Yagami was the shock of his life? He mentioned that he thought he would be the live-action Ryuk. ...he does have the body figure for it.....that I can say.

Okay, last thing. Movie #2 comes out november.

The seiyuu of Death Note! XD

Reiven - September 29, 2006 11:47 AM (GMT)
I only read a bit of Death Note (a chapter in volume 8) but I'm so looking forward to hearing Mamo-chan. I absolutely loved him as Tamaki, and since I can't get him as Tamaki anymore ;; I guess this is the next best thing. Light Yagami seems like a cool character too ^.^ <3

nessi - September 29, 2006 12:38 PM (GMT)
I'm really looking forward to the anime. <3 Death Note is one of my favoutite mangas.^^ I'm somewhere in volume 8, need to read more.

Yes Reiven, Light Yagami is a cool character, my favourite... but as the story progresses he gets too psychotic and manipulative. xD; The way he plans things is scary. Absolutely the opposite of Tamaki. xD

I want to see the movie. ;; Is there anywhere with subs?

Sorry, I haven't currently found any torrents at all, even the RAW. I saw it in Hong Kong while I was there.....XD

I've read through the whole series. The first movie stops.......gah. I totally forgot what volume. 4? 5? 6? Somewhere around that area.

This is the trailer for Death Note: The Last Name
That's the sexond movie, if you didn't know! XD

Rubellite - September 29, 2006 06:06 PM (GMT)
A link to the Death Note movie was posted at the LJ comm, death_note sometime back in August. It's RAW and I didn't download it so I have no idea how good/bad the quality is.

I can't wait for this anime to start (*_*) I know some people have been worried about the choice of seiyuu for L and Light but I think they'll both be great.

Anime Preview <3

I want the anime... xD;

Siru - October 1, 2006 02:47 PM (GMT)
Looks pretty awesome. I'll watch it of course but I'm looking forward to D. Gray-Man more than Death Note.

I agree a bit! I'm sort of diappointed with the artwork of Death Note. But I'm excited to see D-Gray Man.

Two more days!!!!!!

Flame_Sniper - October 2, 2006 08:24 AM (GMT)
I've started reading Death Note last night. I'm up to Vol. 2. So far, very interesting. Although, that character Kira/Raito/Light Yagami (whatever) annoys me sometimes. He's quite full of himself. But, I like him. (Thanks, nessi *waves flag*)

I saw some anime previews on YouTube- can't wait. Mamoru Miyano~
I saw bit of the LiveAction. It's quite scary, but then again- it's a live-action. I wished Mamoru Miyano acted in the movie as well.

Siru - October 2, 2006 10:35 AM (GMT)
Hah, I thought the live action looked decent. Rem and Ryuuku reminded me of Scooby Doo from that one Scooby Doo live action movie. lol.

I hope the anime shows Mello and Near too and not end at

L's Death

Rubellite - October 3, 2006 07:09 PM (GMT)
The raw of episode 1 was just posted on LJ *_*

I hope it shows Mello and Near too. I need to finish reading the manga first though. I've only read up to 90 @_@;

Could you give a link of Death Note 1 Raw? I tried looking for it in most of the RAW Torrent sites I know but couldn't find it.
Edit: Nvmd, I found it at Saiyaman. It just came out right now. XD

nessi - October 9, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
So, who has seen the first episode?

I saw it in the weekend and loved it. Got all "wheee Death Note *___*". xD; The OST fits the anime really well. Ryuuk amuses me.

Kai-D - October 9, 2006 06:38 PM (GMT)
Out of boredom i decided to watch this. I thought the first episode was pretty decent. It just goes to show how having power like that can really corrupt you big time.

Siru - October 9, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
Yeah, it looks like a pretty decent anime so far.

Just wondering but do they have the same VA's as they do in the LA movie?

Only for Ryuk. This time, instead of Fujiwara Tatsuya, it's Miyano Mamoru doing Raito... is it Fujiwara? XD I know his name's Tatsuya....

Reiven - October 10, 2006 11:29 AM (GMT)
After watching Ouran, I have to say that the quality of the animation and the colour is quite dull when compared. Not to mention hearing Tamaki doing that creepy 'evil' laugh is just too strange! But over all, seems interesting enough. I think I like Ryuk and Raito is...quite different from Tamaki ^^;; I can't wait for L! Kappei Yamaguchi! =D

The colours are kinda dull, but let's just say Death Note isn't exactly a colourful thing. xD;

Also agree with the Tamaki part. It's weird to hear his voice in a character so different, specially the creepy laugh. This is definetly not one of the cases where the seiyuu is always with characters who have similar personalities.

Flame_Sniper - October 10, 2006 06:56 PM (GMT)
Mamoru Miyano is a extremely adorable seiyuu/actor if you take a look at his videos on YouTube, which adds a perfect role for Tamaki. But, I have to agree on what Reiven and nessi said.
I can't wait for L to make his appearance on the series. His probabely my favourite character.

Kaori - October 11, 2006 02:01 PM (GMT)
That's a very logical opinion. I agree in a way that the sudden switch between types of personalities may freak people out....but you know, he was also Kiba in Wolf's Rain.

You know, L's voice is the one I'm most interested in hearing. I haven't tracked of the animes he was in for a while, but I'm just thinking that he may be a good fit. Not sure, but this is an anime where you can't mess it up, or a large fanbase will come at you....

I don't really know much about Death Note or L, but I do know that Kappei Yamaguchi did Ryuichi Sakuma from Gravitation (who is a total basket case) and Ranma (among others) but I have no doubt in his talent. I'm sure he'll pull off L with complementary 'pika pika' on the side =D

Mamo-chan is an adorable person on a whole. I'd first taken notice of him in one of the Tenimyu backstages where he and KENN were doing immitations and that was just the awesome. Watch it and you will LOVE Mamo-chan EVEN MORE!! I know I do. That's why it made watching Tamaki so much more enjoyable (besides the fact that he is total LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURVE! *____*)

One of my most favourite parts of the backstage EVER! <3

AHAHA!!!! I love that part!!!!! KENN's Aoyagi was hilarious!!! <----meant to put aoyagi.....

XD Man, that video gets me every time, I swear!!!

Yeah, I guess he would give the playfulness of Ryuichi and the serious moments of Ranma..... hm. Guess it could work....but now i have to think about it.... @__@

Raw Episode 2 is out incase you guys were wondering. Don't know when the sub will come out, probably tomorrow or Friday.

I remember that video. It was priceless and funny. Their impressions sure kicked off. The video of Mamoru Miyano that I infact love is this one. Yes, I totally agree that he's love.

His voice isn't bad if you watched Raw- Epi. 2. Better then Raito's at the moment.

Yeah. Watched it on YouTube. It was ok, but I pretty much know what's going on. Raito is loosing it. He looks more possessed then what I've seen in the manga (to what I think).
L finally appeared..ish. Still waiting for more of this character.

Kaori - October 13, 2006 05:32 AM (GMT)
L's is pretty good! XD I miss Miyano's evil laugh!!! He doesn't sound evil enough!! GO MAMO!!!!!

I really like the OP and ED now...XD the lyrics are cool

Siru - October 13, 2006 07:43 PM (GMT)
I don't like L's voice. :mellow:
He sounds too old. Especially when he doesn't act like it.

Korean - October 13, 2006 08:03 PM (GMT)
Damn...episode two already?
I got my hopes up of downloading first episode the day it was released...
But during the day my internet is slow and I sleep early at night...-_-
Hm...since it's friday i'll download both ^_^

Who is the best subber if anyone knows? I've only noticed Toriyama's World and Live Evil released them on animesuki so far...;

Siru - October 13, 2006 09:53 PM (GMT)
Mmm, I'm going to just say LE since I've seen a bunch of their subs in the past and they're all extremely well done.

Though I can't say much unless you get a TW's watcher opinion on it. I just think LE did a great job with Tsubasa and maybe for Death Note too.

You should also check out D. Gray-Man. It comes out the same day as Death Note and is pretty awesome aswell.

I really don't care which subber it is, as long as the subbing is correct...XD I agree about LE doing well on Tsubasa though.

YES! D.Gray Man! That's one that everyone should see, it's really well done! XD

I might check on D.Gray-Man later.

Whee, episode 2. x3 L's computerized voice scares me. oO; And we're still in the point when ol' naive Raito understimated L big time... I couldn't keep from laughing. xD; And I think Mamo-chan is doing a good job wirth Raito.^^

You already think he's scary...? Then I wonder what you will think as the story develops... xDD

Aeria - October 22, 2006 04:26 PM (GMT)
I agree with Nessi-chan xD; If you think he's scary now, wait until the anime reaches around vol. 7 or 8 in the manga. He even scares ME. I personally think the Shinigami are cute and fluffy next to him when it comes to personality o-o;

Wha~ I wonder what Near will look like in the anime! Dx; Still such a long way to go. Though I can say, as a fan, that I'm quite happy with the anime. I was kind of expecting them to ruin the manga... so far, it's been good.

Light wins in the end

I finished reading Death Note last night and the ending is... hm... kinda icky. oO;

To reply to what Siru said (ending spoilers): Raito dies in the end. oO; How is that winning? And his last momments... nice speech, but he was really hopeless. When he finally confessed I was like "There, he finally lost it." If only Mikami had obeyed him... And I started liking Mello after he died, though he has always idsgusted me. oO; And Matt (bishie with a really secondary role) also dies and it's not even because of the Death Note! Dx

Now, back to the anime. It's going fast, already in the Ray part. oo; But I the anime is being pretty loyal to the manga... And I so love the opening.<3

Kaori - November 2, 2006 06:41 AM (GMT)
Who doesn't like the opening?! XD

I agree entirely with what you said about the manga.

Has anyone seen Book #13? What's in it? Is it like an info book? And what's the difference between the regular and special edition?
