the XV8 model is a good model and all, but......

the DAMN ANKLES!!! they constantly break!! you glance a the feckin thing wrong and the ankles explode! i was just painting one, and lifted it up, then set it down, and it broke at the ankles! it is sooo aggravating! i wanna shoot something!! im so kinda pissed right now!

has anyone else noticed this design flaw?

Don't get me started on those bloody ankles...

A week didn't go by without at least one XV8 ankle deciding that it'd had enough of clinging onto life...

I hated it when it was one of the ankles from an XV8 that I'd put on a stalk, dynamic pose was lovely, but repairing it was a complete nightmare.

The more boring pose with them stuck onto the base was easier to fix, but didn't look very agile, which is what I was after...

A conundrum it was...

So glad I'm onto another army now... Dark Angels may have girly robes, but at least they don't decide to randomly collapse at the ankes for no apparant reason...

All my battlesuits are in running poses and they've been fine (thank god!)
I think it's because both ankles don't stress in the same direction...or something.

how so? because mine were standing okay, but fell apart.

well actually, i at first had them on flying stem, they snapped off those, so i gued them to the base then. then they snapped at the ankles, i glued them really good, then they snapped again...

I don't know about normal pin vice prices -- they're £8, or the equivalent in AU$ or whatever, but I don't know about it compared to other vices ...

I think the moral of this story is: don't collect tau :P


my friend had some trouble with ankle joints on battlesuits before. I had a look at them.. and found that if you pin the ball joint on the ankle to the shin piece then they're fine...

but yeah.. there's definately a re-occuring trouble with those ankles snapping off, let's hope the earth caste can design some decent suits before they're updated again.
