Title: Cool kit, great for some terrain?
Description: Star Wars RotS Star Destroyer

Hey all B) I've just bought this kit with the intention of making some 40k/Sci-fi terrain pieces out of it, principally a crashed space-craft. Here it is, the Revell Republic Star Destroyer:

I must admit I was surprised what a great kit this is. I've got a couple of the Star Wars 'Easy Kits' for the express purpose of hacking them to bits and making terrain pieces out of (I've seen this done on another forum), so I was unprepared for the level of detail on it. I've included some miniatures to give you an idea of the scale:

I figured if I cut the main body of the ship in to a number of pieces it could easily represent the fragments of a crashed ship (a bit like the BfM crashed Aquila).

Then there's the additional part, such as the thrusters could be useful in 40k/industrial terrain pieces:

Then there's even smaller detail, which is perfect for Epic pieces:

This is a very nice kit - it' so nice infact that I'd like to get some more of these kits for more terrain pieces - and even to make the actual model, it's so good! I just thought this might give somebody some useful ideas, thanks for looking! :)

MMMMM that does have some great possibilities. I recall a space borne (non atmospheric possible) navy heavy fighter, can't remember the name or which book it was from though it was black library. It might have been from the ultramarine trilogy but I will see if I can find it. looking forward to this.

thunderbolt? i belive the book you might be refering to is 'Double Eagle' by dan abnet, it featured the Murador bomber, the Thunderbolt heavy fighter, The lightning interceptor and numerous other imperial and choas vessels of the air.

Old Guard's right, they have thm in Battlefleet Gothic but I can't think what they're called just at this moment... I'm sure a BFG-phile will jump in with the correct name soon!

Oh, and Lord Jacobus, I bought this model for about £17-18.

Oh snap Firestorm that is a good find.

Perhaps you guys are thinking of the planetary 'monitor' ships? I have no clue really!

Lots of useful engine bits there for a Thunderhawk maybe?

It could fit in with the Chaos flyers, Hell Talon/Razow and Harbinger. Theres a guy on 40konline who built a 40k scale Harbinger and it's huge

Wow...

Great kit.

I can see it's possibilities already. Might just have to go bit hunting like you guys and see what I can find...
