Ewww. What are those horrible green things in there?

Damn. Hungry now....

Captain Wolverine - May 28, 2008 03:59 PM (GMT)
Unfortunatelt had NO onions but onions can be used but must be red onions

crassius47 - May 28, 2008 03:59 PM (GMT)
works as part of a calorie controlled diet i presume :P ,

don't let gonzo see it, he'll want to batter it and deep fry it

Asmodai Dark - May 28, 2008 04:26 PM (GMT)
Brie and Piri piri?! What kind of foreign is this?!

As a more recent graduate from subway, I feel I must create a sandwich worthy of the bunker!

*Scampers off to the butchers.. tomorrow*

Captain Wolverine - May 28, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)
WORTHY, WORTHY NOTHING fine than my Sub

Asmodai Dark - May 28, 2008 04:35 PM (GMT)
It has minimal pig and only meat from one animal - and to compound the problem, its got french on it!

Captain Wolverine - May 28, 2008 04:59 PM (GMT)
One animal because I want to be able to poo. you can not beat my sub, it has flavour and texture

Merceus - May 28, 2008 07:09 PM (GMT)

Not bad actually, gives a sweet n sour punch to a sandwich. Is very good on Applebee's turkey bacon chibatta.

Merceus - May 28, 2008 07:55 PM (GMT)
meh, for some maybe... but i just dont like the stuff to be honest... maybe chunkless mango chutney would be better for me... as stupid as it sounds :P

Captain Wolverine - May 28, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
Mango chutney would easily work with my sarnie

charlie_c67 - May 28, 2008 08:12 PM (GMT)
Looks nice, but the salad would be better on the side so as not to make the bread soggy. And the bacon's not crispy enough! Still got thick white fat

Captain Wolverine - May 28, 2008 08:29 PM (GMT)
Bread will only soggy if you leave it and considering I ate straight away all good and sandwich with out salad is like summer without icecream. The bacon n fact was too crunchy and subtracted texture away from the salad.

Althanan - May 28, 2008 08:39 PM (GMT)
Aye, crunchy bacon in a sandwich would detract from the texture of the rest of the ingredients, especially in what Wolvie made.

I may have to start a general recipe thread, given my propensity to culinary experimentation :)

Merceus - May 28, 2008 08:55 PM (GMT)
mmm, i had bacon sarnie yesterday i think... i dunno, ive slept alot over the last 24hrs and have kinda lost track of where i am... anyway, it wasnt crispy at all, but still absolutely gorgeous, just goes to show bacon works in many forms ;)

and i vote we make a general cooking thread where anyone who wants to post a recipe or something tasty they've eaten can... good idea? bad idea? not even an idea?

Daemon-Forge - May 28, 2008 09:12 PM (GMT)
A cooking thread be ace, as well in genral there are a lot of threads on Food!

yum a bacon sandwich *runs to see if we got any bacon"

Merceus - May 28, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
*dreams of bacon and egg sandwich... with lettuce and tomato and cheese*

I have to say that this is what I would class this thread as. I know it was started by a mod, but really a thread about sandwiches on a modelling site? Please.

Light of the Emperor - May 28, 2008 09:26 PM (GMT)
Hmm...the cranberry reminds me of a Thanksgiving sandwich.

Turkey, cranberry, gravy and mashed potatoes between two pieces of white toast.

Well, this IS the General Banter board, with a description of "Got something to say that doesn't fit in any of the other forums? This is the place for the friendly discussion of everything else!". If this was on one of the modeling boards, I'd agree. But here, it fits and is legit.

Anyhow, I have my own contributions to this thread. Unfortunately, I can't find my camera, so no pics till I make it again (which I think I damn well may as it was taaaaasty...).

Turkey, cheddar, and a lettuce/jalapeņo salad on a ciabatta roll with Grey Poupon deli mustard.

Cut the roll in half, mustard up the side that the turkey will be on. Slice turkey to your desired thickness (or use pre-sliced, you heathens ;)), and layer on the mustard-ed side. Place 1-2 slices of your preferred sharp cheddar cheese on top of the turkey (I used Tillamook Sharp myself).

Now, slice up 1-2 small jalapeņos and a small quantity of lettuce (I used about 2" of a head of Romaine) and mix them together. Place the resulting salad on the cheese, place the other side of the ciabatta roll on top, and enjoy :)
