Title: Generic regional Painting Competition Thread
Description: Everyones efforts, in one place!
The Antipope - May 27, 2008 06:11 PM (GMT)
Steve suggested I make a thread which can include anyone who's painting a entry to the regional painting competition being held all over GW in Britain right now!
We have until the 28th of June to complete our entries and I'm still glung mine (Skarsnik and Gobbla) together. See, I'm even putting a bit of fantasy in!
Anyway, let's see the entries, kick each others arses into gear and win some kudo's for the AB! Tell us what store you'll be taking em too as well, we may well have an inter-AB conflict going on if theres more than one of us per region!
I'll have some pics up over the next few days when I have summat worth showing, till then! Good luck!

Painting competition? Is it too late to enter ...?
Sounds a good idea. I'll be submitting the model i painted over the weekend ... with a few neater details: Coreaux, Black Knight of Mousillon. (Leicester store, BTW. Anyone else entering there?)
I may get pictures for later today. Possibly.
The Antipope - May 27, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)
The competition is running in every (UK I think) GW store and you have until the 28th of June to enter!
Check out the news section on the official site for the rules. Ctegories are:-
Large 40k/Fantasy/LotR model
Single 40k/Fantasy/LotR model
40k/Fantasy/LotR Squad (At least ten men strong and game legal)
40k Vehicle (I think)
All the categories are quite flexible and can include specialist stuff such as a Blood Bowl team in the squad entry or BFG ships in 40k vehicle etc.
It's all on the site!

Yay! Pics! Arhalien, the white on that cloak is flawless! Really clean and crisp!
If this is gonna be up for a month till everyone is done then could the mods pin the thread till then? Just an idea...

I've had a think and im mainly going to pick figures that are already painted for the store contest.
So far i've devided on a Black Legion sorcerer for 40k single-

Either my forge world Black Legion dread or my Valhallan Baneblade for vehicle -

For squad im thinking a marine combat squad -

So far i've got a couple of ideas for a man-at-arms/zombie duel but only if I can pull my finger out.
The Antipope - May 27, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
I'm sure that a squad has to be ten men strong. I'd enter that Black Legion Dreadnought, it's a lovely sculpt to begin with and its nice to see one painted. That winter BB knocks seven bells of boats as well.
Asmodai Dark - May 27, 2008 09:05 PM (GMT)
I'm in on this. Hopefully with a vostroyan mortar squad i think

My:
Skullhamma:

German ork nob on bike (single... asked for permission for it not to count as a vehicle entry) ... this is still to be painted.
'Men under Steve's Command' - IG command squad , squad category.
Diorama: 'Nikkin Stuff' , scrapheap diorama.

Best Regiment or Squad This category is open to Warhammer Regiments (including Blood Bowl Teams, Mordheim Warbands and Warmaster Brigades) and Warhammer 40,000 Squads or Squadrons (including Necromunda Gangs and Epic 40,000 Detachments). A 'unit' must consist of at least 5 miniatures and be legal' in game terms. |
Combat squad is legal.

Thanks Antipope, although you have no idea how annoying that was to paint :(
@El Diablo; I know I've seen all that stuff before, but it is still stunning; I predict you will go far here :P
And on the subject of unit/squad entries, now getting tempted to enter my Eternal Guard:

Probably my best painted regiment when taken as a whole.
I;'m also tempted to enter my wardancer noble instead of Caradryan, although I fear after several games the model is quite badly chipped, even though I think it's a better paintjob
@Tepok; that is a very impressive Skullhamma; is that based off the plastc blade with lots of plasticard or one of the FW models?
The Antipope - May 28, 2008 12:06 AM (GMT)
Oh, then that Combat Squad would make a lovely entry. Tons of nice stuff on display, I also love the winter Baneblade SO much!
MutantMaggot - May 28, 2008 08:56 AM (GMT)
Fantasy single:

More pictures can be found in my log.
*checks to see if it's allowed to be mounted*
Some fantastic entries so far. I love Tepok's orky BB, and the marines squad is looking excellent. Great entries from everyone so far: it seems the judges are going have difficulty judging this! :)

Blimey, so many finished entries already, am only just starting work on what will be mine.
Arhalien - May 28, 2008 05:05 PM (GMT)
Well that's because we're all lazy people who're using old models :P
The Antipope - May 28, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
Col.Gravis, I know how you feel! I have only just filed the gaps in Gobbla's big ugly Squig face with Green Stuff! Never mind picked up a brush.
As with all your other Praetorian stuff though, that Rough Rider is top!

I concur Wholeheartedly! Absolutely Brilliant!
Tepok - May 28, 2008 10:37 PM (GMT)
The Skullhamma is made from the plastic BB kit, with about half the parts not being used and replaced by pcard.
I may do the Ork Halftrack for the vehicle category instead, not sure.

Dang It's not fair, your GS skills are amazing.
The Antipope - May 29, 2008 01:49 PM (GMT)
He needs arms though! Is it the angle of the photo or is he on a bigger base than normal.
The Antipope - May 29, 2008 09:11 PM (GMT)
Time for pics of my own work in progress, I apologise for the pics. The ones to the left were taken this afternoon, the ones on the right show the work done since then.
First of all the base, which I had to do the rocks on today so that I could do the rock on Gobbla's foot at the same time.

Second of all is big fat flat ugly Gobbla. My objective on him today was just to get a nice, neat bright coat of red. I shall begin blending him tomorrow I hope. I want him to be vibrant.

I'll post up more updates, pretty regular every step of the way. Still got a long way to go on this until the 28th of June.
Happy times and places,
The Antipope.
