Title: Chaos Militia
Description: Renegade Ogryn Berzerkers

Lillith-Silver - May 27, 2008 12:07 PM (GMT)
so i thought i may aswell start my project log, i will update as and when i can, but sometimes i dont get quite as much time as i would like, to paint etc...you probably all kno how it is.

i have the renegade ogryn berzerkers from FW, and i am assembling and painting them one at a time. so far i have nearly finished two.
i have been taking pictures throughout the different stages, so i shall post my pictures from the first one for now.

let me kno what you guys think

user posted image decided on a white undercoat for everything except the base. the base i green stuffed made an imprint of where i wanted the ogryn and then covered it in slate from the urban basing kit.

i am using the GW paints, have only ever used them, so im quite comfortable with using them the clothing has been given a base coat of tausept ochre

the skin got a basecoat of tallarn flesh

each of those was then given a wash of various browny reds, and a couple of drybrushes to highlight

the tubes/canisters metal bits had an undercoat of charadon granite before getting a carefull not quite drybrush of boltgun and or brazen brass, and several washes/glazes of greenish blues

and that is the first one done....i'll post the next lot up as soon as he is finished.

The ogryns are looking good. They are fantastic models and you've done a good paint job on them. The hoods look especially good and the bases.
The metals I think would look good a bit dirty/rustier, but thats just my opinion, I like the well worn look on renegades! :D

Look forward to seeing more of these and the whole squad together.

keep up the good work.

Looks great! I agree with SG about the metals though, they could do with some muck - how about some dirt on the skin too? I can't imagine them getting a wash :)

Looks nice, but like what the others have said, more dirtiness !!!

thanks for your comments, do you guys have any suggestions for me as to how i can achieve the muckiness/dirtyness without overdoing it?
any help much appreciated...

Some of the new GW washes might help, although I'm yet to use them...

I would personally use some Chaos Black and water, quite a thin wash over the flesh, see how that turns out, then maybes a Smoke Ink/Water wash (Smoke Ink is from the Vallejo paints range, its a sort of murky grey-ish-brown-ish colour).

Experiment with black/grey/browns and you should get what you need!

I like the looks of this! The Renegade Berzerker Ogryns are exceptionally good models, and you've got a nice colour scheme going. If you want advice on weathering the metal, a simple Vermin Brown wash over those parts will do the trick, and go with the ochre overalls.

Nice, another Chaos Militia Log, especially good when they include Oggies.

As the others say a bit more dirty would look good. Have you thought abotu Mig pigments to add some rust to the metalic parts?

Yay, another Chaos Militia log.

Looking forward to seeing more and looking good so far. :D
