Title: Guess who had a look at the new starter box :)
Tepok - May 25, 2008 09:00 PM (GMT)
Appoligies if this has been posted before, I don't think it has, so I'll go ahead. This basically confirms what has been said on other sites.
I had a look at the rulebook & starter set today, and... well... its dakkatastic.
As already said on other sites, they include 5 nobs (eavy armour, choppa & slugga) , 1 warboss (PK, Twin shoota), 2x 10 Slugga boyz with 1 Big shoota & Nob (not 100% sure about nob in these)
3 Deff Koptas that are just like the ones in the codex art work, they are very, very cool, and all three are different, very nicely detailed.
The orks all seem to be Seb Perbet orks, they are all quite similar to Snap Fit orks, but look very nice, and orky. Lots of different weapons to the normal boy box, and they should add some vareity to our normal mobs.
All of these models do not have the 'soft' detail that previous starter sets have had, they are also in the correct scale, and most are 1-3 piece models.
Beakies:
Dread (multi melta, claw) - some nice details and heraldy on this, 10 Beakies - these are VERY nice, gothic , some 'templar' style helmets, good poses, a really cool vet. sergeant, flamer, missile launcher (like the devastator one).
5 termies, again, quite gothic, some different bits to normal termies
A very, very nice captain, somewhat a mix between the DA Captain with cloak, and the Medusa Lightning Claw Cpt (who's name I've forgotten...)
And all that... for £40
Out in september, due to some packaging problems, It'll be released with the beakie dex, the beakie drop pod, scout bikers etc..
Hope this helps.

2 month delay. :(
As said before, I will be buying this with a friend. £20 for a dred/10 marines/5 termies and captain = ftw!

Are you saying the new starter Marines are all beakies?
If that's the case I imagine I'll be buying a few starters. ;)
Tepok - May 25, 2008 11:01 PM (GMT)
No, I just call them beakies.
THey're normal marines.

Very nice indeed, having heard a lot of different rumours about this set, its great to see some of the better rumours I heard are true, although I was under the impression that the marines all have Ultramarine iconography from what i'd been told from other sources, can you confirm whether or not this is true Tepok?

What does the captain come armed with?

If it's true it just means some work with a knife and file.
