Title: Matt Varnish ...

MutantMaggot - May 24, 2008 06:42 PM (GMT)
I'm afraid, that at the risk of appearing foolish and entirely ignorant of everything hobby-related, I need to ask about matt varnish.

I've never really needed to use it before: TBH, I had few enough metal models for a bit of chipping not to matter, and my painting quality back then was ... *shudders*

but now there are some models I'm quite proud to have painted as I did, and on one of them in particular (my Black Knight), the paint is chipping quite a bit.

So, does anyone know about any good matt varnish? Is GW's 'Ardcoat useful, or rubbish?

Thanks,
Alex

I just looked and I think the GW stuff is no longer being sold ... at least, it's not on the UK store. :(

if you cant get it try other online retailers, as they may still have stock

You can get paint on matt varnish from vallejo, which has a good finish (in my opinion anyway), worth giving it a try if you're not confident with a can or dont trust spray on varnish.

Cooper: I was actually referring to spray cans, but that'll be useful too. :)

Brambleten: I'll have a look on Google.

Tony: a good finish? With no shine?

Thanks,
Alex
