Title: What We've Got Behind The Desk

Ross - September 19, 2007 12:36 PM (GMT)
So we've all got ongoing MP&T projects, but I wouldn't mind betting we've all got other painted armies we swing back too ocasionaly.

So, here's a chance to showcase what you've got.

Go for it....

Here's one of mine, Khorne Bezerkers:

Love them too once I have time I will get mine up.

Quick question: Digits, what's on the terrain piece behind you Griffon Lord? Looks like part of a dirty big snake?

Well, here's another of mine. Nurgle marines, there would be more shot's but my daughter turned off the PC (her new fantastic trick these days) and the upload went AWOL, that and it took me an hour to get these 4 up  . There's 2000pts worth here (well, in some shots anyway), and as you can see it's not the standard Plague Marine colours. That's because it's a break away section of my standard Marines so their colours are a corrupt version of that.

Anyway here they is:

That's all that came up as squads, now here's a quick snapshot of the army in their house with the Khornies (yup and they chat to each other when the box is closed! )

Speaking of the NCSM 'parents' here they are, the <cough> mighty <cough> Seahawks! Now while you all wait for the pics to appear I'll indulge myself by filling you in on why and fluff.

Why?
I wanted a starcraft marine type army (I'm not all that keen on GW's religious fluff, don't ask ;) ), so I wanted Marines Marines and a few more Marines. This force (my first force when I got back into GW products years ago) was basically my first big army. I wanted to avoid the 'power gamer' use of plasma and Lascannon only groups so I swung right back the other way. Missile Launchers and Bolters/Heavy.
I set out to make a complete FOC army and was nearly there until a mate bought me a Predator (thus 4 Heavy choices) and the new codex came out and power armoured HQ's couldn't have Land Raiders as transport anymore. At that time the army went on a bit of a repaint/rebuild then kinda fell into a hole and is left as you see it below.

Fluff!
Before anyone says 'Smurf, Smurf' yes they were/are a Ultramarines offshoot chapter :D They were assembled, then sent off to the 3rd war for Armageddon when upon entering warpspace they collided with a dirty big ork rok. For 300 years they hurtled through Warpspace fighting constantly before popping out with severley reduced numbers and no real ability for space travel.
They managed to land upon a happy little jungle planet and set up base. Their resident Librarian felt a psychic pull and assembled a big group of marines to have a look-see. Lo-and-behold they found a sealed temple to Nurgle, so what did they do? Yup, opened the sucker. Threatened with death, the mojority of marines opted to live as plaguecarriers and thus the Seahawks were split (and I then had an excuse to build both armies ;) ).

So there you have it, hopefully reading that gibberish will have given the pics time to appear. I've not taken 'good' shots of them as IMO, seen one SM, you've seen 'em all

The old scheme (left) and the new (right):

Car pool, as you can see, this army needs alot of work to make it cohesive again, as pretty much all vehicles are painted in the old scheme:

And the ranks. 1st pic=3 power Arm troops, 3 scout troops (metal ones at that), devestators in the middle. 2nd pic= another dev squad, some bikes, assault troops without backpacks, vets, chaplain and his retinue (in black) and HQ)

When I get the motivation, I'll open a project log for their rebuild.

Sweet Elysians Wolvie, and good looking Raven Guard Kayvaan. Really like the Librarian conversion :)

Funny isn't it. Before this (thread and new forum) who could honestly say the knew Digits had 14 tanks, or one of the best painted Howling Griffons around? How many knew the reason I'm disinterested in marines is because I have 200 in my collections?
Most of us are know pretty much just for our current project logs, but there's much more to most of us than that. I'm glad to see this to be honest and I feel alot closer to those that have signed up in here as a result. I think we've garnished some of the most talented and funny people in the hobby here (and I'm here too to enjoy the ride) and I'm grateful to be a part of it.

Thankyou for sharing guys, there's still some more of you to show your models you're hiding, don't keep us in suspense......

Ross.

(that was very heartfelt, sorry, won't happen again ;) )

it makes it hard to compliment everything individually.

all your stuff rocks. it is really the best stuff of warseer in one place! i like.

Ross - September 22, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
On behalf of me, Thanks guys :D

Sir Spamalot, rocks are cheaper than flock, otherwise they'd all be on green bases ;)

I'll upload another army today :)

Ross - September 23, 2007 08:46 AM (GMT)
This is technicaly Lisa's army (I say that so I had an excuse to paint pink and purple  ). She painted it (ths SoB's or os she calls them, Bitches of Battle), but I got the job of doing the repentia, inquisitors, and then got called in for a tidy up paint job (re- paint them all again <_< ).

Without further ado:

As you can see it a very basic force that needs alot of tweeking to get it to a 'competative' army.

Speaking of tweeking, where is she.........

Ross - September 23, 2007 09:45 AM (GMT)
This is/was "Lisa's" first army. Alright, I just wanted an excuse to get orks (they were MY first army, but I got rid of 'em) for the second time. She chose 'em, selected the wargear, painted the bassy and dread as well the sluggas, then made me paint the rest. Not that I mind, though I don't think I'll ever paint green skin again :D
