Title: 28mm - 15mm size difference

wednesday - May 20, 2008 07:10 PM (GMT)
Does anyone here know what the size diference between 40k and 15mm scale is?

I know that 40k is uaully refered to as 28mm heroic (or something like that)

After looking at the templates in the template group on Yahoo, a fair few of my friends here have been talking about 15mm scale, and how it might be easier to run apocalypse (we all have some FoW fores which could easily substitute for infantry as we worked it out) and i am planning on scaling the templates.

The only thing is I don't know what the size difference will be, can any of you help me out here?

thanks in advance.

I believe 28mm works out to approximately 1/56th scale and most 15mm is scaled to 1/100. HTH

As posted above, 15mm tend to be 1/100 depending on the manufacturer.

28mm is closer to 1:64. best bet is to stick a leman russ tank next to a sherman from FOW. Do the same with a guardsman and a stand of FOW infantry, you'll have a direct size comparison

alright, so after a couple of hours working on this atferwork over the last two nights, here's where i am...I present to you my first full scratchbuild (in progress) -

a Stock Russ and guardsman, next to my 15mm scale Russ hull and a FOW trooper.

I found that by shrinking the templates to 40% of their original size they came out about right.

for example:

The hull and the Trooper closeup.

And we all know that GW tanks are too tall compared to real world tanks, right?
So how's this for scale size:

This is the Russ hull next to a mates Panzer IV H (minus side skirts), looks about right, no?

I'll post more pics of the Russ when it's finished (I know i've got to fill the gaps and tidy a few edges up, come on my first true scratchbuild!)

thanks for looking...
