Awesome mate, absolutely brilliant! I love your Chaos Marines. Great work on those, and the mutants and traitors are excellent!
TheGrizz - May 18, 2008 07:43 PM (GMT)
As SC said, the weathering on your models is fantastic! Can't wait to see what you've got planned for your Disciples!
KayvaanShrike - May 18, 2008 07:56 PM (GMT)
Those Guard are amazing, really good job.
And I like the skin on the Skink, very nice, and striking
scrubout - May 18, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
Ya, this is some amazingly awesome stuff. The weathered stripes on the Russ are totally wicked.

Arhalien - May 18, 2008 08:14 PM (GMT)
Brilliant stuff; wonderfully gritty Chaos models, and the skink shows how well you can do bright stuff to.
I'll be watching this :)
Death Korp - May 18, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
I caught your scent from Warseer... ;) Welcome!
Lovely models as always, and LOTR! Brilliant!

Mister Feral - May 19, 2008 08:34 AM (GMT)
Thanks for all your positive comments!
I found some more images:
Exalted Champion (Senior Officer):

The photos are a bit out of date, because he has a Plasma Pistol now.
One of the Veterans in his unit:

I sculpted more armour over his torso and shoulder pads, added chainmail and gave him a Marauder shield for that gladitorial look :). I really should get this unit finished soon!
I'm currently on the panting desk revamping my Huron Blackheart to match the rest of my Red Corsairs, and some more Haradrim.
Ross - May 19, 2008 08:36 AM (GMT)
I'm quite taken with your Disciples of Xaphan, very very nice and menacing!
So what's you plan point wise and model wise for that group?
Mister Feral - May 19, 2008 08:50 AM (GMT)
Give or take a few units, I can use the Traitor Guard in either a Renegades & Heretics army or the Lost & The Damned. The Red Corsairs form part of the Lost & The Damned until I can afford enough for a 1000 point force.
The Disciples are the R&H version of Hardened Veterans, and mine form a six-man unit wth three Plasma Guns :P .
Bertiboy - May 19, 2008 10:22 AM (GMT)
i love your traitors! awesome scheme and the weathering is excellent! makes me wanna redo my guard lol XD

Thanks for the positive comments, and I recognise you Sunny from Warseer! *waves*
I've been slowly working on an Icon Bearer for a future Chaos Space Marine squad. Classic Red Corsair fluff says that traitors from various Space Marine Chapters flee and join the RC ranks, so I'm going to do a squad consisting of these Renegades as a "normal" Chaos Space Marines.
Enough talk from me, here's the current PIP state:
(note the defaced Imperial iconography and elements of the Red Corsair colour scheme creeping in)
The Red Corsair logo was too hard to paint on such a small surface, so I did my classic checkers instead. The back is the same as the front in case you were wondering.
jasevx - May 22, 2008 05:51 PM (GMT)
Nice to see even Smurfs go over to the dark side, really good stuff and gives me some ideas on my still black Corsairs!
The Psychologist - May 22, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
*waves back* Hi! Hey nice job on the SB. Love the checked pattern.

Their's a lot of nice work on here. I really like the skink cheif. The LOTR stuff looks really nice as well. Can't wait to see more stuff on here.
the_great_gonzo - May 23, 2008 08:30 AM (GMT)
You have really captured the grim darknerss of the 41st millenium with your LATD, painting and modellign is fantastic. I love the disstressed and dirty look to all of your minis, and your lemanruss looks like it has been churning through the battlefields of the eye of terror for centuries! Fantastic check pattern on your banner too!
Mister Feral - May 23, 2008 08:42 AM (GMT)
Thank you all! I would show you the updated banner with the chaos star I added, but my camera seems to want to reject every battery put in there, so no pictures for now. BTW jasevx, he's a Crimson Fist (see his left hand, it's red) ;)
I'm finished college for the summer now, so I have a lot more free time now to paint, so hopefully something new to show you soon.
Marovian - May 23, 2008 09:48 AM (GMT)
Very nice work on the guard. I am not a big fan of seeing the emperors loyal servants corrupted, but you just do it so well!
Maelstrom - May 23, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)
first of all welcome to the AB (i know im late saying this lol)
you have some great stuff here, i like the LaTD and red corsairs the most as im going to be adding traitor guard to my word bearers at some point, those mutants are really nice :D
keep up the good work bud.
Mister Feral - May 26, 2008 04:09 PM (GMT)
Thank you Marovian and Maelstrom. You go for those Traitors Maelstrom, and I'll so be watching that one!
It's been a while, but I have my excuse ready. I know, terrible! My camera seems to want to not co-operate with me, accurse its rejection of every battery I try to use. Perhaps it's merely the batteries, I just don't know. :(
Anyway, all is not doom and gloom, for I have something new for you all, fluff! Enjoy:
(if you don't get it at the moment, bear with me it'll all make sense soon...)
"Lieutenant Varran stared through the small viewing port at the vast expanse of the icy wastes arrayed before his eyes. A cold and bitter storm had whipped up again, concealing anything past a mere several dozen metres. He and his hardened platoon of Guardsmen were trapped inside their standard construction bunker, but his men weren't just Imperial Guardsmen. They were the finest that the ice planet of Morlath could provide, the glorious Morlath IVth Planetary Defense Force.
He thought to himself of his and every of his soldier's dedication to the protection of their homeplanet in the name of the Emperor. That alone made the punishing day-to-day duties as a solider of the Imperium bearable, as he turned to his men. He observed them as they sat huddled around the makeshift fires, trying to stave of the deliberating effects of the freezing weather outside. The storm continued, still furiously houling and beating against the sturdy plascrete walls of the aging bunker.
The Lieutenant stood tall and made the symbol of the Aqulia across his chest, for at least the frequent snowstorms gave a respite against the constant attacks from the foul Twists that dwell in the penisula not far to the north-east. Last time they attacked, he's lost four good men, comrades-in-arms Varran had know since the creation of the regiment some 21 Terran years back. What was worse was that Varran knew they weren't killed, a far worse fate befell them.Varran shuddered at the mere though.
As the storm had began to calm done, he turned to observe the plains again. The sight struck horror in his mind. A wave of filth and pestilance was loping and running in great strides towards the garisson, mere moments from the bunker. The mutants have returned, and he and his men weren't prepared...." (to be continued)
Painting wise, I added a Chaos Star to the banner featured several posts back, so I think it looks even better now! Pictures soon hopefully...
Don't forget the constructve criticisms and comments people! This creative writing thing is all new to me.
freebooter - May 27, 2008 01:13 AM (GMT)
Love the guard and the corsairs are looking awesome too. I've always been tempted to do a red corsair army made up of lots of different squads of various traitor marines... A Squad of BA here, some SW there... Would be awesome :P
Mister Feral - May 29, 2008 07:29 PM (GMT)
@ feeebooter - Thanks, I'd like to think the idea will turn out well. So far, so good!
More fluff for you all, since my camera still refuses to behave itself:
“They were coming, and fast. Lieutenant Varran turned to his men and at the top of his voice bellowed the command “TO ARMS MEN, WE’RE UNDER ATTACK!” Confusion and panic spread through the isolated bunker as soldiers rushed orderly to their efficiently maintained weaponry. Varran spun around on his heels and dashes to the carefully stacked equipment rack alongside his men. Through the scramble he collects his weapons of choice, a standard issue Laspistol and chainsword as all officers of the Morlath IVth carried as part of their superiority. Men rushed to their designated defensive points around the vision ports, they may have been caught off guard, but if anyone could muster a defense, it was the Morlath IVth. Glorious battle was about to commence.
The buzzing then started, as flies the size of a man’s fist swamped every gap and crack in the Imperial defenses. A few soldiers ducked and hid as they caught the brunt of the attack and were devoured by the swarm, the screaming disturbing the concentration of the others not so unlucky. Varran gave a silent prayer to those taken from his ranks as the flamers were brought up to eradicate the unnatural threat. Human and insect flesh burnt alike as the Lieutenant commemorated their duty in life.
He picked his way through the burning corpses as he pocketed his firearm to observe outside as did his men, he alone knew that was merely the start of the pain and the agony awaiting them. The blizzard hadn’t died down yet, quite the contrary it had whipped up again but that wouldn’t stop them. As the mutants reached the defenses, Varan espied a pair of solitary figures standing on an overarching rock ridge in the distance, the storm obscuring their identities. What he could see was that one was bulkier and sickly pestilent, and the other being towered over the former, a giant in crimson. As the mutants hit home, the real bloodshed was about to commence....” (to be continued)
I'm participating in the "Tale of LotR Painters" over at Warseer soon, so there's going to be a lot of LotR coming from me over the next few months. I'm doing an 500 point Umbar army for the Tale, but I also have small forces of Easterlings and Minas Tirith that need repainting. Test model pictures soon (hopefully)!
