Well you won't go too far wrong with posting Bllod Angels and VC on here! You are in mighty fine company.
Can you give us a few close ups of the marines? How have you done the ice?
Merceus - May 18, 2008 01:50 PM (GMT)

I like the looks of your blood angels, especially the snowed up rhino. i too would like to see some unit closeups of the BAs
Maelstrom - May 18, 2008 03:21 PM (GMT)
These are really nice dude, as the others have said the frost/snow effect on the rhino is awesome.
you have a nice colour scheme going on the empire troops, is it one of your own?
the muscles on those dire wolves look almost real with the sort of gloss effect you have on them.
Keep upthe good work man, and get sum more pics up

Cool another Blood angel painter will be watching this one closely to nick ideas if necessary

Well look at the replies! I'm actually pretty touched!
So! To answer a few of your questions!
Digits: Close up of the marines? No problem!

Merceus: Cheers man. The ice is just a bit of baking soda and pva and water. I thought it was a pretty standard receipe :S Anyways it was just experimenting with it to get what I liked.
Titan136: Thanks dude! Heres a few pics of the snowed up Rhino.

Maelstrom: Thanks for the kind comments! Yup the colour scheme for the Empire is my own, but I think its pretty similar to the old Drakenhof guard scheme I saw in a WD once.
Wolvie: High praise indeed! Im sure with your great skills theres not alot you could learn from me! Thanks for the kind words.
Well Ive got a few more Dire Wolves done, I think Ill finish up the last one for the unit tonight and base them all.
Digits - May 18, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)
I've never tried snow before, but after seeing this I just may......
CrankPilot - May 18, 2008 10:08 PM (GMT)
Digits: You really should! Just plain old baking soda and pva with a little water! Hell even I can do it!
On the painting front, Ive got another Dire Wolf done, shown here

This is my Undead so far...

Still got 5 more wolves to paint up but I might leave them for a while to crack on with a Chaos Biker for an old army still to be finished. Then who knows what else.
Comments??

Looking nice. The BA are awesome and the Red armour contrasts really nicely with the snow :) And the way you've deposited the snow on the rhino is awesome and realistically thought out.
Loving the VC too. The new wolves look suitably dead :)

Freebooter: Thanks for the kind words!
Well, as it was a nice day and I had nothing to do, I decided to spray my Chaos Biker and the last 5 Dire Wolves. When they were drying I decided to whip out my old Chaos Lord and touch him up a bit. And the results are....

Any comments??
charlie_c67 - May 19, 2008 10:45 PM (GMT)
Only criticism is they're too damned shiny! HAving said that they look very good :)
CrankPilot - May 22, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
Charle: Yea alot of my models are shiney! I work alot with inks and Ive never got any dullcoat, I hear it can ruin your models if not worked with properly so Im a little bit scared!
My Chaos Marines are purposfully really shiney though, a tip I got for highlighting black on the GW website. Although I can do without it now I still use it for them to keep the paint scheme cohesive.
Well, Ive painted the biker, jst the base to be done.

And some army shots in case your interested.

WARNING. BOOBIES.

I really like the Daemonettes, the colour scheme is great, very nice cohesive forces you've got. :)

Well guys, just a little update to let you know Im still pottering away. After staring at the Biker for a few days I finally got him based and stored away, as well as starting the next set of Dire Wolves for my Vamp Counts army.
I also started to work on a little bit of scenery, my first ever to be in fact, and Im quite proud of it. Its not nearly completed yet, but I like where its going, and Ill have pics of it up in the morning, if not later tonight if I cant sleep again!
Now, I need a bit of advice.
I have a little way of making sure I get armies completed, and it is as follows.
1) Two armies at a time for each system (40K and Fantasy). This makes sure I dont get too bored.
2) Dont call an army complete unless its a multiple of 500 points. So that could be 500, 1000, 1500, 2000. This is to make sure the armies I spend money on are at least playable.
3) Dont put the army in storage until its complete. Storage is defined as an army case, and unless the army is complete, they sit in boxes in the top of my wardrobe to keep them on my mind. The exception to this is my Imperial Guard army, which at 2000 points doesnt fit in an army case.
So, the predicament. Both my 40k armies are coming up to completion. The Blood Angels only need a Razorback, and Chaos only need 2 more Bikers. I dont know which to try next.
Options are Orks, Eldar and Deathwing. All have pros and cons, but Im wondering what you guys think I should have a go at next and why?
Comments really appreciated.
Althanan - May 27, 2008 02:18 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm an Eldar player who's been getting into Orks, so I know where my bias lies ;)
That said, a well-painted Deathwing army is a great thing to see (see Dean's log for an example).
Guess that didn't help, did it? :P
CrankPilot - May 27, 2008 05:45 PM (GMT)
Althalan: Lol not really mate, but thanks for the comment anyway!
Well heres the pics of the scenery. Ive still to paint the sand and all the bits and peaces lying about, but Ive got the general layout done.
Any comments?
