Google sketchup is a free 3D drawing programme that I have seen used for some stunning drawings. I downloaded it a while ago and beyond a quick look at it then I haven't used it since - 2D all the way for me!
Does anyone have any experience with it or can point me in the direction of any good tutorials - it seems to useful a program to ignore, especially with complex designs like flyers

Never Used it, downloading trial version now, but that being said if your looking at buying a 3-D Software for complex construction I have to suggest Soildworks, just Soildworks not Comso. I spent a year is school with it and I've founds it would work miracles with 3-d

+++Edit+++

Having Downloaded it and begin working through it...... IF you were just looking for something free it would work ok ish. I still believe that soild works is a better product for drafting complex 3-d shapes. If you'r lookg to for something to buy go for the student version you'll be able to print and just ignore the "student Version" that is printed on the pages when you print.
