Title: Necromunda Tourney Weekend?

darkseer - May 14, 2008 04:59 PM (GMT)
Hi guys,

I know a lot of you are into Necromunda in a big way, as well as some other people I know from Warseer.

I was wondering if anyone would be up for a Necromunda tourney style campaign weekend at WHW?

I worked something out with Simon Tull (who runs CARNAGE events) last year, but due to time constraints and other projects it was never run.

I wanted to ask here and gauge people's interest.

The setting is an outlaw town, abandoned by the trading guild where the rabble rules and only the biggest gang can take control of the soon to be Outlaw Kingdom.

i'm interested, what would be the plan, starting gangs, get better as games go on ?

Yep, 1000 creds to start as always, but everyone gets 1 settlement territory representing a different part of the outlaw town.

Everything functions as if you're outlaws in terms of foraging.
But there's no rare trading post, although you can steal stuff in certain games.

So it's based on scavenging and experience to claw your way up the ladder.

Oh, and just because this is going to be an outlaw town, don't think there won't be any arbites to ruin your day and enforce Imperial justice! B)

Enforcers? :D

I love my Imperial justice. There isn't a criminal in the underhive a .50 cal explosive bolt to the skull can't fix...

Pity I can't make it though, otherwise I would be there to drive my Imperial fist down on you scum...

And the Wyrd'er gives you the finger.

On the other hand, how long does a Necomunda Tourney Run? and how do you win?

Opponents are paired up by their gang rating.

Players are then told which mission they will be playing.

Over the course of 6 or more games the gang with the highest gang rating wins overall.

In between rounds, the gangs go foraging, etc. The removal of the rate trade chart makes things so much quicker.

So really it's like a mini Necromunda campaign crammed into a single weekend.

Oh that makes sense I was just wondering how you'd run it.

darkseer - May 16, 2008 07:24 AM (GMT)
What do you think a sensible number of players would be?

20? 30?

Just out of interest, are you going for the normal gang progression (people die, people get hired, XP pts, etc) or do you intend to do it similar to how things like the Blood Bowl GT is run (Same lineup every game, regardless of death etc. after each game, one player gets one standard skill).

Just curious due to the logisitical nightmare of the former...

I'm currently debating it.

If it's a 'tourney' weekend, then you'd have no experience, progression, etc.

If its a 'campaign' weekend, then it would focus more on telling a story and not being cheesy, so experience and progression would be taken into account.
