Title: Hydra Flat Tank
Description: Help, it's all gone wrong!

Marovian - May 9, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
Ok, so my first large scale Forge World piece arrived today - a Hydra.

Despite the lack of instructions, it was all going pretty well. Slapped the two track sides from the chimera kit together, and then glued the chimera middle section in.

Then I came to the resin top section. I tried to fit it in the gap but it seems too narrow, and keeps dropping through. The rear section that it is supposed to rest on seems fine, but when I put the top section in it gets pushed back. So it looks to me like the top section is too narrow and too long.

Does anyone out there know if I am going crazy? Have I got it wrong, do I just need to make it fit and GS the large gaps or should I be ringing FW? It just seems a bit cheeky to ring them for this one small piece, but they've had nearly £40 of my money for this baby, and I don't want it looking crappy. Has anyone else had this problem with their Hydra's?

Thank you in anticpation.

Is the gap at the sides between the FW resin part and the track assembles or between the front of the resin part and the rear of the chimera drivers/hull-gunners compartment?

Do you have a picture?

I'm going to try to get a picture, but basically the gap is at the sides between the resin part and the track assemblies. There is a litte runner sticking out the track assembly which I assume the top should sit on, but it just drops straight through.

Ive had the same problem, its a mould problem, the resins shrinking. I'm afraid it will have to go back mate, I'm still waiting on mine!

Drat, was hoping to avoid having to call them, took four weeks to get the kit, and I was hoping to get it ready for June at the latest.

Might be tempted to fashion one from some plasticard.

To be honest its a piece of pee to do, a flat piece of card with a thin circle piece on top.

Yeah, it didn't look difficult, even to someone with my lack of skills.
Might give it go. Your an experience plasticard man, should I go fo 1mm or 2mm?

jasevx - May 9, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
2mm for the base, the circle use 0.5 if you've got it, easier to cut the circle with sissors

Think I'll get ordering some plasticard and have a go, if only for the experience, and get onto Forge World next week to tell them how unhappy I am!

Cheers Jase

while your there tell them i haven't had my bit yet!

Marovian - May 9, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
How long ago did you ask? If I loose patience with plasticard how long will I be waiting!?

jasevx - May 9, 2008 10:12 PM (GMT)
i sent in back in February, if its a prob, ill knock you one up

No, might as well start somewhere. I've been back at this hobby for around a year, and I can win the odd game, my guys are painted to a semi decent standard but I have never converted so much as an arm.
So I'll give it a go and see what happens.

If it goes too badly wrong you'll here me swearing in Leicester! :o
