Ok as ive been seeing on the forums Dullcote has been pulled from the UK until the can sort it out so that its not killing us ,So as im down to my last 2 cans I was wondering what people are going to start to use ?
My supplyer has told me that i can get a jar of Dullcote but i would have to add thinners and use my airbrush but before I have to try that i wondered if theres anything else on the market thats as good ;)

Buy Krylon Matte varnish. Check you local Tescos or equivilant, it is in the spray paint aisle. $2.89USD.
looks like
thisIt is cheaper than both GW and Testors Dulcote.
Edit: the Krylon doesnt kill the shinyness of the metals nearly as bad as the Dulcote does. (It works better...)
Comes in Gloss, Matte and Super Matte.
Edit: third times a charm...

Ive just been looking at that ,were i get my dullcote from stocks that aswell ,but my concern is that its going to give the rest of the DA a totaly differnet look :( but if needs be i will have a to try it out :) is that what you use Dean ? :)

I got the matte and it just looks a little duller than the brush paint and the transfers dont look shiny. I've only used it on my termies... Right is coated..

It looks good stuff:) cheers for that dean ;) I will have to order a can and test it out.

I would imagine that its not hugely different. I also find it depends on the way you spray the models, I mean I use GWS Purity Seal sometimes on more "common" models, tanks etc, as the Testors is small in comparison. ANd I can get a fairly mattish finish if you spray lightly accross the model from fairly far away. So the end of the stream is hitting the model, use it too close and the model goes shiny.

The Krylon stuff is definitely a solid alternative to Dullcote. I bought some a couple weeks back, feasibly for a project my fiancee was working on. Little did she know I had ulterior motives ;)
Seriously, tho, it works very well. Gives a nice flat finish, doesn't obscure details, and doesn't leave that hellish gloss that stuff like Purity Seal does.

Worth noting for Australians about a matte varnish that's effective and good value for your money (not trying to hijack this Deadly)
It's called Wattyl Estapol Matte Varnish spray, and it's around $10.00 (Australian Dollars) and gives a nice flat finish that doesn't alter the colours all that much. They also make a Gloss and Satin varnish, should you wish to give it that extra bit of protection.
Places to get it? Well major stores such as Bunnings, Big W (in the paints, home improvement and tools isles usually), and places like that.
Personally i find it good, but it's always worth testing it on an old figure just in case :)
Deadly, i hear also that the airbrushing method of applying your varnish is good with tanks (according to Bungaroo over at the other forum).

Ah that explains why I'm gettting through fifty cans a day then and why there's a giraffe in my bathroom that keeps hiding my toothbrush...
Thanks for clearing that up Jase, I read that and thought oh crap I use loads of that stuff! Scared the life out of me!

Although army painter dip may be overpriced I've heard good things about their hobby products especially their matte varnish.

I use Krylon Fixatif all the time. It's true if you spray too close you will end up with one shiny looking orc (from my own expirience). I don't like GW spray because of it's price and there was this one that demaged my tank by making it look like it snowed. It was caled Armory clear matt finishand it was sold in my Gamers Paradise (some white particles got mixed up with it).
Anyway Krylon is a good alternative.
Here's how the new one looks:
