Title: Citadel sprays
Description: Never again :(

I got a quiet whisper in my ear in my local battle bunker the other day... It was a whisper deigned for my ears only... Some of the veterans were starting up a League using the old Confrontation 3 rules.

I managed to suppress my glee long enough for one of the people the message was not meant to reach to leave the store... C3... Hell yess :D

So I got home and dragged out my old Wolfen and saw they were in need of a desperate repaint... So in the metho they went for a good old fashioned strip.

Then it fell to me to decide what colour scheme these boys would be seeing. I decided I needed to take my time with these as I wanted them to end up on display in the store... I decided on a nice clean white. After all, what is scarier than a bunch of massive white wolves?

Down the local store I went to pick up my latest order from Privateer Press, some new paintbrushes and a white spray. I settled on the Citadel Spray because I believed that paying $20 for a spray must mean it was quality...

How wrong I was...

The air was cold but not too cold and it was dry, so I decided to spray... I shook the can for quite some time and then began to spray...

After leaving it for an hour to dry I came back to pick it up and find out that the paint was peeling off almost as if I had painted a latex cover over the model...

So now here I am scraping the rubbery garbage off my gorgeous Varyghar model :(

Never again will I buy a GW spray...

Ive had mixed results with white spray and I think its got more to do with luck to be honest...take it back to your store and explain the problem and take the minis - show them the problem.

They'll at least give you a new can or at most give you a refund for some black - assuming you already have it, spend the money on a pot of dheneb stone and apply a thin coat of that, jobs a good un

Sometimes i get that "orange peel" texture to it on metal models. Happens i guess. If you give it a good shake sometimes it cures that.

I had that happen just a couple of weeks ago with part of a batch of spraying I did, and found it odd since I'd used the same can several times with success, often in poorer conditions

Then I noticed the minis that were having the issue... some I had just finished stripping that morning.

What probably happened was that you didn't clean 'em quite well enough. Not a big deal, just strip 'em again (won't even take as long) and make sure to wash 'em off and dry 'em more before you spray again :)

I was just going to say that, were they clean enough.

I use Halfords Primers in the UK, cheaper and a finer spray giving a better finish. And they come in five colours!

There was a problem with the white spray when they redid the can, I remember same thing happened to me. You might have got an old can.

Personally, I've never had any problems with citadel spray on the models itself, although I have had cans give up half way through for no apparent reason.

When I strip the models I alsways rinse them in cold water, then they get a soapy bath and scrub - seem to undercoat fine after that.

I use Testors Flat White and Flat Black and other than sometimes they dont like to stick to metal they work fine.

(since they are formulated to stick to plastic it seemed a logical choice.)
