I would like to know how to go about basing my models on a ruined city. Thanks guys. :)
Try some course sand on the base, and build up the bases with green stuff or putty. Use rocks for concrete rubble. Cities of death pieces work well also.
Good colour scheme.
1. Black undercoat.
2. Drybrush Codex Grey.
3. Drybrush Fortress grey.
4. Paint big rocks and building pieces a different colour for contrast.
You might want to check out Dominus's Tutorial
here.
There's also a good tutorial over on B&C
here.
It all depends on how far you wanna go. . .
For a super simple base, bung a few patches of sand on it. Then paint it black. Paint on shadow grey, then drybrush codex grey followed by fortress grey. After that, a light black paint wash (not ink, paint) to bring out detail. Simple and quick.
Of course you could add kerbs, tiles, tarmac texture, potholes, drains, ammo cases, random gubbinz. . .
Dave out.
I used the guide in the latest
Firebase for my nurglings. It gives more of a ruined/rubble look than one with larger city pieces. Here's what it looked like on my nurglings:

The thing I like about the dirtier/rubble look is that it seems to fit 40k better.
Another simple way to make a city base is it use regular sand/gravel. Give the sand a chaos black wash and then drybrush with codex gray and then fortress gray.
Thanks for the links/help guys. I'm going to go hunting for a few bits and pieces tomorrow hopefully.
I'll also try and get some pics of the bases when I've done them and update them in my project log. Thanks. :D
