Title: What is this bit?
Description: Post those unsual bits you find,
jasevx - May 5, 2008 06:40 PM (GMT)
I'll get this off the mark:

I know they are something to do with the Mk I rhino, but haven't a clue what variant they are for!
Tinners - May 5, 2008 06:42 PM (GMT)
The metal bit is an old predator part, it went were the rear top hatches were, not sure on the others.
dean - May 5, 2008 06:43 PM (GMT)
Left to right.... Pread mk2 top hatch replacement (turret sat on top of the front driver hatches.)(yeah, I've got one somewhere....) Rhino mk1 sides (cut down with LR tracks glued over the exhaust mounts...
jasevx - May 5, 2008 06:45 PM (GMT)
Thanks, think I've most of a Mk I Pred then, only thing thats got me confused is the sponsons, they don't seem to match the sides, anyone got an old instruction guide on it?
dean - May 5, 2008 06:49 PM (GMT)
Mk 1 or Mk 2? I can take pix of my Mk 2 if you want. (Its falling apart...)
jasevx - May 5, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
cheers Dean, tho I think I sent the turret ring to someone else, so I'm going to have to scratch that bit!
Bluesabre - May 6, 2008 11:21 AM (GMT)
I believe the sponsons went over where the side doors would have been.
jasevx - May 6, 2008 11:55 AM (GMT)
Thanks Bluesabre, I've realised the metal plates in the bin are the sonson mouts, about there now! What was the difference between Mk 1 and Mk 2? This baby has a saucepan turret
Keravin - May 6, 2008 12:00 PM (GMT)
The MK 1 was all plastic.

Back left of the pic is the MK 1.
dean - May 7, 2008 12:07 AM (GMT)
Huzza! Found it.
Pread D mkII. The Pread A is the one with the saucepan metal turret.

The sponsons took forever because they were really bad to have flash between all the rivits. I swore at this thing for several hours before I got it together.
jasevx - May 7, 2008 08:13 AM (GMT)
thats the baby I've got, I'll put it back together then, its going into Sams army
crassius47 - May 7, 2008 10:47 AM (GMT)
whilst we are at it, i know what this bit is but don't know what sprue or kit it comes from, cheers for any replies

Penguin of Death - May 7, 2008 10:56 AM (GMT)
I think that's an Ork oil can either from the old trukk of from GorkaMorka
Ross - May 7, 2008 11:01 AM (GMT)
Didn't the old space marine vehicle sprues have single fuel cans with brackets like that aswell?
jasevx - May 7, 2008 11:13 AM (GMT)
yes they did! very similar
Ross - May 7, 2008 11:16 AM (GMT)
I know (or think I know) that they did have the twin ones like that.
bram kuijpers - May 7, 2008 12:01 PM (GMT)
hey i have one of those on my tanks, i think it comes with the chimera spreu
crassius47 - May 7, 2008 12:14 PM (GMT)
cheers people, i stick those on most of my tanks but i'm running out so am trying to see if i can get some more
Gundrek - May 7, 2008 12:22 PM (GMT)
You can get two of those on the old battle scenery sprue ;)
Penguin of Death - May 8, 2008 08:07 AM (GMT)
Don't have a pic but on the chimera there are 2 what look like small rectangular hatches with 3 hinges and rivets on them - I think they are numbered '7' on the sprue and are near the grab handles.
I assume they are used on one of the other tanks - either that or I've just left them off
crassius47 - May 8, 2008 11:21 AM (GMT)
they go on the basilisk above the front heavy bolter but on the chimera the front of the troop compartment covers it,
cheers gundrek, i'm off to ebay to find some
Ross - May 20, 2008 01:22 PM (GMT)
My turn, I got this guy in a bunch of Grenadier and GW '80s RPG models.

His tab has been filed down so I can't get anything off that, he fits into a GW slot base easily. From the curves of the armour I'd place him as a '90s GW model but I may be barking up the wrong tree.
Anyone?
KayvaanShrike - May 20, 2008 01:49 PM (GMT)
Can' be GW, far to dynamic! lol
I dunno mate, some kind of old fantasy model maybe, if its GW at all
Keravin - May 20, 2008 02:22 PM (GMT)
One of the old Chaos warriors.
brambleten - May 20, 2008 04:07 PM (GMT)
i got these fellows in a box lot of stuff at a car boot, along with about 5 others. i thought at first they were havocs, due to the heavy weapons, but then ive been told they are stealers. im confused.

EDIT: now pics of all of them
jasevx - May 20, 2008 04:20 PM (GMT)
Think it is the old stealers, ring a bell!
Keravin - May 20, 2008 06:28 PM (GMT)
They are Genestealer Hybrids. Came in a Space Hulk expansion.
brambleten - May 20, 2008 07:46 PM (GMT)
ohh, thats what they are. ive got them with an assortment of weapons, but 1 is definitely armed with a plasma pistol. it then pulls up the question: what do i know about space hulk? the answer is that i think it was termies vs stealers and thats it. i think i will use them as havocs. much better than metal ones and i dont have to pay another 30 quid.
thanks guys
Hocistik - May 20, 2008 07:48 PM (GMT)
Genestealer Hybrids, both armed with Conversion Beamers
And judging by the extra arm and the fact they still LOOK like Genestealers and not Human, I'd say probably 2nd Generation Hybrids at that B)
dean - May 20, 2008 07:50 PM (GMT)
Or you could maybe ebay them for more... Stealer Hybrids are a rare breed and have an armylist (stealer cult) that is in the realms of specialist gamers...
brambleten - May 20, 2008 08:02 PM (GMT)
that sounds like a nice idea. not bad for finding them in a large box of random warhammer at a car boot. anyone want pics of the rest? if yes i will post them tomorrow morning when the cat shouldnt be asleep on my case

He's an 80s model. I don't have those catalogues here. I'd say very early slottabase models. Looks to be around when the Compendium and Journals came out.
Ross - May 21, 2008 08:21 AM (GMT)
Cheers Keravin, I'll hit Solelegends for a search :)
chromedog - May 21, 2008 12:23 PM (GMT)
Those hybrids (in the 1st pic, from l-r) have a Conversion Beamer, plasma gun (not pistol, the pistol WAS smaller), auto-cannon and missile launcher.
They're from the 2nd expansion for Space hulk (1.0) called "Genestealer" - which also gave us a plastic terminator librarian, psychic power rules and an expanded blip set and larger corridor pieces.
Good find. The conversion beamer apparently comes back in 5th ed ( as an option for a techmarine or somesuch). All others can be used as is today (if you're using them as havocs, then the CB can be either a lascannon or other directed energy weapon)
brambleten - May 21, 2008 02:23 PM (GMT)
thanks a lot. thats exactly what i was using the conversion beamer for - a lascannon.
crassius47 - May 22, 2008 10:56 AM (GMT)
hello all, got these blokes with a collection of metal ig figures, what are they

[/IMG]
and what the hell is this?

[/IMG]
cheers to all
jasevx - May 22, 2008 11:34 AM (GMT)
First Picture are the Rogue Trader Imperial Guard, still useable
bram kuijpers - May 22, 2008 11:55 AM (GMT)
the second seems like a classic wood elf
Ross - May 22, 2008 12:00 PM (GMT)
I'd say pop them outta their plastic base and see if there's anything left on the tab, but Jase and Bram seem to have hit it on the head.
